the lost documents

As the eerie silence settled after the brutal battle, Darius and Adam sat inside the ruins of the abandoned camp, their breaths heavy and bodies exhausted. Despite their fatigue, curiosity drove them to search through the scattered documents among the corpses and wreckage.

Darius picked up a half-burned piece of paper and muttered,

"What were they looking for here?"

Adam glanced at the document in Darius' hand. It was filled with torn sentences and faded letters, but among the ashes and fading ink, one phrase stood out clearly:

"Find the Scion… We must locate him before they do."

Darius: "Scion? Scion of whom?"

Adam, frowning as he flipped through more pages: "No names, but it seems they were in a race against someone. Who are 'they'?"

Their search continued until Darius found a relatively intact file containing a structured classification of the Shadows, detailing their types and strength levels. He read aloud:

"The Hierarchical Classification of Shadows…"

Ordinary Shadows: Mindless entities, mere tools moving without will.

Elemental Shadows: Possess natural elemental powers, such as fire, water, and forest energy.

Black Shadows with White Eyes / White Shadows with Black Eyes: The highest known tier, stronger than Elemental Shadows, possessing a form of awareness.

Beyond these ranks… Unknown.

Darius turned to Adam and spoke in a low voice: "Does this mean that the shadow's Heart that… merged with me was one of the strongest known types?"

Adam, his expression serious: "If that's the case, then you have a power we don't fully understand yet… and it might not be in your favor."

Darius fell silent, staring at his palm, where he could feel an unfamiliar energy pulsing within him, as if something strange was stirring inside. He couldn't fully grasp what was happening, but his instincts felt sharper… stronger.

He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to focus on it, and sensed something akin to a whisper within him…

But he couldn't understand it yet.
