CHAPTER 4 - Necrosis

----final----

Because of the pain, I could no longer run, so I tried with my last strength to get there.

When I reached the gigantic doors of the church, I realized that I was not allowed to be

recognized. Fortunately, the Aphragon Church was not far from here. The Aphragon

Church had knight armor, as they were responsible for the country's security. I ran

there. I didn't have much time left as my pain was increasing. It was like a countdown

running down. I tried to hurry. When I reached the Aphragon Church, I stole a set. It

was difficult to get the armor, but escaping from the church was easier. The guards

hardly noticed me because of the armor. My last day had arrived. My soul and thus

my suffering would soon come to an end. I ran back to the wedding. When I arrived, I

saw Atsuko, who was leading the guests in. When she saw me, she ran to me worried.

It was as if she had recognized me, but that couldn't be.

"Hey, you're from the Aphragon Church, aren't you? Could you be our best man?

Unfortunately, there's no sign of the Pope..." she called to me.

It worked, but why does it hurt so much... I thought to myself. I knew that deep down I

had hoped that she would recognize me. But that couldn't happen. Everything I had

done up to this point couldn't have been in vain. So I gritted my teeth and ran towards

her.

"Yes," I replied monotonously, but I suffered with every single letter I uttered.

Some time passed and the pain increased. My time was almost over. But the time had

come... The wedding ceremony began and I had to say it.

"Do you 'Tadano', take your partner 'Atsuko' as your lover, to be by her side... through

the good days and the bad?"

This should have been my marriage, and I would have married Atsuko instead. My

heart felt like it would burst, but this was just the extreme pain of seeing them. Atsuko

smiled... She loved to smile... I watched the person I love marry someone else. The

pain and sadness were indescribable, but I had to endure it.

"Yes," he said in a confident voice. He was hardly excited, but you could see that he

was happy.

"Will you 'Atsuko', love your partner... 'Tadano', forever?"

As I said these words, my eyes started to bleed. These were probably signs that I had

no time left. I had to hurry...

"Yes," she replied with a broad grin.

Everything repeated itself, but without me. I was not destined to marry Atsuko. I was

not destined to live. What I did was to correct fate. It was the right choice... wasn't it?

When the ceremony was over, I walked out with slow and painful steps. The pain was

unbearable. I had to end it myself. I ran to the flower field, but it took a little longer

because of the pain, but I reached it. The moon was already high in the sky. This is

where my best memory took place and this is where my story will end. I dropped to my

knees and drew my sword from its scabbard. Before positioning the sword, I looked at

the moon. I positioned the blade across my neck and held my hand behind it for

support. Before I struck with the last of my strength, I began to regret it. I should have

seen a beautiful and peaceful life. But before regret overcame me, I struck with full

force.

I did it.
