Kara sat on the plush sectional of her high-security mansion, legs stretched out, flipping through TV channels without any real intent to watch. The massive flat-screen flickered from news to reruns, to some reality show where rich housewives screamed at each other. She wasn't paying attention. The cold bite of ice cream melted against her tongue as she absentmindedly scooped another spoonful from the carton, eyes drifting toward the others in the room.
Her harem was scattered around the living space, positioned in a way that looked casual to the untrained eye but was far too intentional. Wanda sat closest, an elbow propped on the couch's armrest, swirling a half-empty wine glass in her fingers, the deep red liquid catching the dim lighting. Jean was perched on the opposite end, flipping through a book, her fingers lazily tracing the edge of the pages though she hadn't actually turned one in minutes. Rogue had taken over one of the oversized chairs, stretching like she had nowhere else to be, while Gwen sat cross-legged on the floor, tapping a rhythm against her knee as if waiting for the right moment to speak. Mystique lingered against the far wall, arms crossed, her presence silent but undeniably watchful. Storm, as always, moved with calculated ease, leaning against the kitchen island with the faintest charge of electricity crackling between her fingertips.
Kara swallowed another spoonful of ice cream, then felt the shift.
It was subtle, but she had been around them long enough to recognize it. The way the air became just a little too still, the way their movements synced just a little too perfectly. They were about to get inside her head.
Natasha was the first to move. She sat beside Kara, leaning in slightly, enough for Kara to feel the weight of her presence. "You know, Kara, you could just go punch Magneto in the face right now," she started, her voice smooth, deliberate. "But wouldn't it be so much more fun if we let the X-Men and the Brotherhood fight it out first?"
Kara paused, spoon hovering midair. "You mean like…" she frowned slightly, processing the thought. "Letting them have some dramatic anime-style battle while we sit back and watch?"
Jean, still not looking up from her book, flicked her fingers dismissively. "Exactly. Let them tire each other out, burn through their resources, and when it's all chaos and destruction, you swoop in for the final hit."
Rogue stretched, shifting her weight against the chair. "And obviously, there's only one place that makes sense for a dramatic battle." She glanced up at Kara with an expression that was entirely too satisfied. "The Statue of Liberty."
Kara's eyebrows lifted slightly, her mind now fully engaged. "Wait… you're telling me I could swoop in, beat Magneto, and destroy the Statue of Liberty at the same time?"
Wanda leaned forward, setting her wine glass down with deliberate ease. "And pin all the blame on Magneto." A slow tilt of her head, just enough to let the idea settle. "People will believe anything if it's framed the right way."
Kara slowly lowered the spoon back into the carton, letting the weight of the idea settle. "I'm listening."
Gwen adjusted her position, resting an elbow on the table, chin propped against her palm. "It's simple. Magneto and Xavier both think they're playing some grand chess game. What we do is nudge them toward a public showdown. Let them think they're both in control."
Mystique, silent until now, spoke with that same unreadable smoothness. "Meanwhile, we're the ones pulling the strings."
Kara inhaled, her mind turning gears she hadn't realized were there. This wasn't just her harem plotting something. This was strategy. This was the long game.
She sat back, ice cream forgotten. Then, it hit her.
Her eyes widened. "Wait. Does this mean I get to slap Magneto in the face?"
Wanda's lips parted slightly in amusement. "Not only that, but you can destroy his helmet in the process."
Jean finally looked up from her book, resting her chin on her knuckles. "The Cerebro-Resistant Helmet, if we're being specific." She raised an eyebrow. "Without it, he's vulnerable to psychic attacks."
Kara felt something warm spread in her chest. "Oh my God." She sat up straighter. "I get to slap him AND destroy his villainous plot device?"
Storm exhaled lightly, arms crossed, watching Kara process the absurd amount of joy she was experiencing. "Not just any slap." She let the statement settle. "A historic slap."
Kara tapped her chin, seriously considering the logistics. "Okay, but like… he's an old guy. I don't wanna slap him too hard. That'd be too cruel."
Natasha, always direct, folded her arms. "So what's the limit?"
Kara thought for a moment, tilting her head as she ran the numbers. "I'll only knock out, like… a dozen teeth."
There was a unanimous nod of agreement.
"Yeah, that seems fair."
Gwen tilted her head slightly. "Forcing him to eat applesauce for the rest of his life would be too much."
Jean lifted her glass. "A dozen teeth lost is reasonable."
Wanda's fingers tapped lightly against the table, considering. "It's dignified."
Kara sighed dramatically, stretching her arms over her head. "Fine. A dozen teeth, no more, no less. We have to have standards."
With the plan now solidified, there was an underlying shift in the room. A mutual understanding.
This was happening.
Kara wasn't just along for the ride.
She was part of the planning now.
And she liked it.
Natasha leaned back, satisfied. "We'll start feeding the right information to the right people. Magneto and Xavier will come to their own conclusions, believing they're leading their sides into battle."
Mystique's voice was smooth as ever. "And when the dust settles, we take what's left."
Kara stretched, flexing her fingers. "And I get to slap a major villain across the face."
Jean turned a page in her book, her voice completely casual. "With historical significance."
Wanda exhaled lightly, amusement dancing in her expression. "And property destruction."
Kara shook her head, a slow realization settling in. "I gotta admit," she muttered, "this manipulation thing is kind of fun."
Rogue chuckled lowly. "Wait 'til we show you how deep it goes."
Kara arched an eyebrow, shifting her attention toward the next step. The Green Tea Method!!
