As Haru slowly blinked awake, the sterile white ceiling of the hospital room came into focus. The steady beep of the heart monitor echoed in the otherwise silent room. His entire body ached, but compared to what he had endured, this was nothing.
The door creaked open, and a doctor stepped in, flipping through a clipboard. His eyes widened slightly as he saw Haru awake.
“Mr. Haru, this is nothing short of a miracle,” the doctor said, shaking his head in disbelief. “Not only did you survive, but you can still move all your limbs. With the injuries you sustained, most people wouldn’t even be breathing right now.”
Haru stretched his fingers experimentally. “Guess I’m just lucky,” he muttered, forcing a smirk. “Or maybe you guys are just that good.”
The doctor chuckled. “I’ll take that as a compliment.” Then, his expression turned serious. “Can you tell me what exactly happened? How did you get these injuries?”
