Chapter 36

It was an hour after Tia mind linked Gaby when Nikau, Azrael’s wolf, plodded up the road leading into the village. He had an injured boy draped over his back that Gaby recognized as a young rogue named Tyler. She sent for Dorthea, grabbed clothing and a blanket, and ran to meet them. Ari shifted and took some jeans from Gaby.

“A gang of warriors attacked him in the forest. His leg needs to be set so it can heal.”

Gaby laid him on a blanket.

“Do you know who they were?”

“The warriors? No. I am afraid I did not recognize them, but they had him outnumbered five to one. It didn’t seem like a fair fight.”

“It was Hoh River pack. They came out of nowhere. If he hadn’t shown up, I would be dead right now.”

Dorthea hobbled up and started barking orders.

“We must hurry. Gaby, roll up that shirt and put it in his mouth. You, Gamma, hold him down.”
