King Alex sat at his great desk, made of polished oak. In front of him, a thick sheet of parchment was spread out, his quill occasionally dipping into the thick black ink. His heart felt heavy, filled with waves of worry that would not subside. Princess Katy, his beloved daughter, the only daughter he had with Queen Meghan, was now far away in the Kingdom of Atlas.
Katy had been sent to Atlas several months ago to foster closer ties between the two kingdoms. An important mission, indeed, but the distance between the Oscar Kingdom and Atlas felt like a deep and frightening chasm to King Alex.
