#FIRST FRIEND

A few months passed by, Yves continued with her life but she would sometimes think about the little boy who gave her the sweet toffee hoping she could meet and play with him again. Today, she especially missed the boy because it is her birthday, she got up early in the morning, got dressed up in her birthday frock, as the school follows the tradition of children dressing in nines on their special day, gone to school and attended the classes like everyday.

It was a pink and white coloured ombre dress made of glittery net lined with smooth satin, the circumference of the frock covered with pink coloured flowers embedded with a pearl in the centre. Her hair is styled in a fish tail with pink and white little flowers in contrast to her black hair and a flower crown of white baby breath flowers combined with green twigs placed on her head accompanied by a pair of pink ballet-toe shaped shoes.

Yves was the definition of the very snow white disney princess with fair skin white as milk and black, long straight hair and big round eyes representing onyx gemstones that shines as the bright stars in the pitch dark night sky with proportional facial features, soft pink lips and chubby cheeks. Her eyelids had a shade of rosy pink hue on them by birth as if they were covered by eye shadow of that colour adding more beauty to her already pretty face.

She was all alone by herself the only thing that made her feel like birthday was when her teacher announced her birthday in the class and everyone began singing a happy birthday song for her and gave her a new doll as a birthday gift and also everyone in the class got chocolates on behalf of the birthday girl.

This time Yves ate the chocolate as soon as she received it so as not to get snatched again. Previously, she had a habit of saving it to eat at lunch which ended up getting snatched by other kids. when savoring it she was reminded of the toffee boy.

It was after lunch the children would take a nap and after the noon nap they would be allowed to play. Yves went to the swing and sat on it playing alone when a tall brunette boy, hair in a shade of brown and green eyes as if the nature is crafted carefully into them dressed in a yellow tee and beige shorts with a fresh smile as morning sunshine stood in front of her.

Yves pov : He's taller than me and has green eyes that look like the trees and grass in the garden, he looks older than me should I greet him by saying hello or evening. Immersed in her thoughts she was staring at the boy when he suddenly smiled and said :

Hello! which made her come back to her senses as she replied Hello!

he laughed, then asked what's your name ?

Yves! she replied then he introduced himself: I'm Henry

And she repeated after him Henry! to which he said yes! as if complimenting her for her good pronunciation, she was confused to speak any further, as it has been a long time since someone interacted with her in a friendly manner

what are you doing here alone looking all sad ? henry asked

Then Yves told him it was her birthday today but she doesn't have any friends to play with and how other children bullied her, snatched away her things, made fun of her, grabbed her hair. It was the first time Yves opened up to someone, she went on talking while he listened to her when finally, she stopped and looked at him, he gave her a hug and patted her back this warm hug made her cry and before she knew she was wailing flustered by her cry Henry soothed her repeating the words it's okay! it's fine! you are a good girl! finally he calmed her down, extending his hand with a handkerchief towards her face and wiped her tears and snot.

After she calmed down completely Henry spoke: Yves! Happy birthday! You look very pretty today like a princess. I wish to have a beautiful friend like you. Hearing those words she looked up at him in confusion

He then asked her: Feeling better now?

She replied: Yes!

After getting her affirmation Henry sat on one knee, holding her hands in his hands, getting all her attention

Then he proposed: Can I be your friend? Please! Yves was surprised but a few seconds later... she nodded her head vehemently as she repeated yes! yes! yes! That marked the beginning of their friendship.

They continued their conversation asking about each other's interests. He then told Yves that he is in middle school and suggested that they both can go to school together as they were both in the same middle school but in different grades.

They both started walking to and from school everyday, having lunch together along with his friends. Sometimes Henry would carry her backpack 🎒 for her while other times he would piggy ride her. On sundays, Henry invited Yves to play with his friends in the neighbourhood playground🛝. He also took her to visit his friend's homes on holidays. They would share their snacks with each other.

During evenings, after their school, they both would visit the library building of the estate to study and complete their homework. They also studied together during exam season and Henry would help Yves out with the questions she found hard.

Like that they both continued to nurture their friendship by sharing things, talking about what they did at school, playing together in the orphanage and Yves also made new friends, to be precise, they were Henry's friends but they welcomed her warmly and treated her friendly as Henry introduced her to them as his little cousin.

Days passed by as seasons changed, while they shared their umbrellas, raincoats, icecreams, sweaters, stationery and conversations.
