Chapter 12 Laws

The final domain of the three, the laws of everything in the universe. The parent and child sat in the sitting room of the home. Alpha and Gamma were in the dinning room allowing the two the space to teach and learn.

"While space and time are relatively straight forward, laws are very detailed and complicated. Each one a different part of reality yet all are needed." Omega opened the scroll allowing it to furl out.

Eta looked at the scroll. "Am I to just study all the laws?"

"No my child. We shall observe the natural laws in action. Reading can only do so much. Come, we shall go to where I came from."

The two appeared at the edge of the universe. It was the edge of everything, a fine film that blocked out the pure black that lurked beyond.

"To learn of laws, I would like you to observe that which is outside my jurisdiction. The void from which we sprung forth from. The ever encroaching darkness that would want nothing more than to reclaim the territory me and my siblings claimed."

As Omega spoke, something slammed into the film. A figure much like the two gods stood in the black, contrasting it with texture. It seemed to not see them, obscured by the boundary.

"This is one of the laws I made right from birth. 'The Void has no place in the universe.' But it also shows the flaw of all of our domains, they only apply in this universe and from our understanding, there should be countless others somewhere further into the void." Omega floated closer to the barrier, touching it lightly.

"What is that creature then? It's soul is hollow and stretched thin." Eta placed its hand right where the figure was on the other side.

"An emissary of sort possibly, maybe the personification of nothingness. Maybe a god just like us. We aren't sure, but we know whatever this one is and all the others, they are counted as The Void." Omega pushed off the barrier and turned to the universe, taking in the countless galaxies.

"Can anything be done with the laws or are you bound by something?" Eta continued looking towards the deep black void.

"Anything, which is why this scroll is so very important to write said laws down. Unlike Alpha with the universe or Gamma with the realm of the flow, my domain is written to the very cores of everything." They go back and lead Eta away from the boundary. "Tis why you must observe the laws rather than learn them. Compared to the nigh infinite timelines or stars, each law can interact with one another in a nigh infinite amount of combinations. It would take countless millennia to learn all combinations for just one law."

Eta looked up to Omega. "It's just as souls interact then. Each object and being with one will mesh differently with each other. Every mortal has a nigh infinite possible fates, laws, and reactions."

Omega just nodded.

The two gods would roam about the universe, delving to observe that which interested Eta. From galactic impacts to supernovae to the space warping of black holes. Omega would force the laws to make themselves seen and Eta would spend days painting the scenes. Each painting capturing the law in question down to its very essence. The young god absorbed the information like never before. Neither with space or time did Eta be so curious.

The two would visit the pillar often as Eta would tell the other two about the interactions of the laws. It would hang up the paintings in a new building solely made by Eta for art. Each piece a part of an ever growing mural of something the elder gods did not quite understand yet.

After four millennia of observation, the two found themselves back to Eta's home galaxy. They watched the spiral galaxy slowly spin, still to collide with another.

"I asked this of Alpha, am I the being you thought for me to be?" Eta looked up to the elder god.

"My child, you are who you are meant to be. Through all the chaos and perfect imperfections, you are Eta. You are the one I truly believe will be the best of us. You are my child, my Daughter whom was born not of the void, but of reality." Omega hugged Eta softly.

"But am I ready? Am I the god you hoped me to be? Was all of this worth it?" Tears were falling from her face though they froze instantly in the void of space.

"You are. You are. And yes my daughter. Since you came to being, it has been the best point of my life. Raising you, learning from, with, and teaching you has been a true blessing. I know Alpha and Gamma feel the same." Omega turns to the nearby galaxy. "Our boringly emotionless universe turned into something truly awe inspiring. Souls permeate reality so to show how we are never to be perfect, and that's okay. My laws will never be perfect, the timeline will never be perfect, the universe itself will never be perfect. But so are we, all of us can be together in this imperfect universe no matter what form we take."

"Hmm. You have such faith in me." Her lips curled into a small smile. "I must be worth it if you're this sure." She pulled away from the hug. "Well then, shall we continue my Father?"

"So we shall my Daughter."

The parent and child continued about the universe. Eta slowly becoming more accustom to the laws that would soon be hers to write and rewrite. All the while, Omega learned more of souls and how emotions and the like were the complete opposite to his rules. While laws were similar to the natural instinct of creatures, emotions and souls allowed creatures to go against instinct such as that to flee or fight.

Over the course of three more millennia, Eta had finally understood enough laws to write her own. As with space and time, her laws were set to enhance the artistry of the natural world, the cause for plants to arrange themselves with more colors. The instinct for creature to appear louder in appearance to attract mates and for stars to flare up into possible chaos.

Alpha and Gamma could see the effects from the pillar. Earth would be home to many such changes in the life that called it home. The parent and child descended back onto the pillar for the final time.

"I see new beauty in the world, Eta my dear, I have you to thank, right?" Gamma approached the two.

She simply nodded and went to the home to paint once again.

"So it is done now?" Alpha looked to Omega.

"Yes brother. I have imparted my knowledge to her just as you and Gamma have."

"Then it will soon be time. Eta must become the tools owner, and for such, we must disappear." Alpha produced his orb of space.

"We'll become one with our dominion in every sense of the word. I do wish we could exist in tandem, but we made our tools such that they would only have one owner." Gamm produced her staff of time.

"My daughter will still have us by her side. As you will become one with space Alpha, you will always surround her. As you will become the flow of time Gamma, you will wreathe her in temporal energy. And as I will become the laws of the universe, I shall always be by her side offering insight." Omega produced his scroll of laws.

"Are you sure you can go through with this Omega? Will you be able to leave without regrets?" Gamma tapped Omega's scroll with her staff.

"I cannot answer you until we are to leave. Whether I have regrets now, no. She is my daughter whom I have poured my own soul into."

Alpha turned to Omega as well. "I can't speak for you Omega, but even I have regrets for how little time we've spent with Eta. Such a small span of time compared to our lives yet her whole life is with us. It will be a rather lonely existence once we're gone even if we'll still exist partially."

"She will find a way to fill such a void in her heart. We could even reincarnate into mortal forms one day to keep her company if need be." Omega smiled. "I think we should do such before we leave. We should create a mortal somewhere in time that will hold a part of our essence for Eta to find to reduce our regrets."

The two looked to Omega knowingly. They have more regrets in that moment than the other two combined.

"Before then, we should make even more memories with Eta. So she doesn't have to use my domain to look back at us." Gamma started towards the home.

Alpha followed beckoning Omega.

For the last time, Omega walked to the their home.
