Confidence Riding On A Mosquito

One week has passed since the former discussion in the Wolf Court.

Today, a meeting had been called by the princess. The Wolfocrates were curious over the decision made by Luciana.

From their perspective, Sylvon was the perfect candidate to take over the throne for a few years, considering his problem-solving skills and wise jurisdiction, they would wholeheartedly support him. Also, they planned to use him for personal benefit regarding the connection they have built with him over the years.

On the other hand, the court also included those who despised him. One of them was Aza, the young Wolfocrate who wanted Luciana to be the Regent Queen. Or maybe, The Queen.

But one cannot lie while declining that Sylvon stood as the center of attention, that day. Rather be it respect, hate or jealousy, everyone looked out to him.

They predicted princess's answer to his proposal. Why would she say no? Because there was no reason. Even if she did say no, they were ready to fight. It was a trick which might earn them a place in Sylvon's heart.

Kai, the Import and Export Minister of Blackmoon nation, also the best friend of Sylvon, was seated beside the center of attention, while boring a bored expression on his beautiful face. The man decided to look around in hope to gossip with anyone, but everyone was already busy with themselves.

He turned towards Sylvon and saw his best friend filling some templates on a file. Probably dealing with the massacre situation outside.

"Sylvon," He called out while sipping the hot tea from his porcelain white cup with printed flowers at the center.

"Hmm?"

"You aren't becoming a king, I bet my life." It was out of nowhere that he said that and left Sylvon muddled.

Sylvon paused the pace of his running pen and turned towards his friend. He looked around to look if anyone was listening before sharply pinning his eyes on Kai.

He exhaled heavily before whispering at a low range, making sure only Kai could listen to those words, "Once I become the King, I will make sure that you become first the sacrifice under my regent."

"Your confidence seems to be riding on the back of a mosquito, Sylvon." Kai sipped the relaxing herbal tea while closing his eyes to ease into the smell of the aroma.

"You had a week to spit in my face, is there a reason you choose to do this now, before the crucial moment, also when I was engaged in filling this?" Sylvon said while pointing towards the paper lying before him.

"I was bored."

Sylvon rolled his eyes at Kai's reasoning and before he could remark further, the voice of the guard at the front door rang with a monotonous commanding tone, "All hail the Princess of Blackmoon. Everybody rise!"

All the Wolfocrates immediately rose from their seat while the east gate opened, welcoming Luciana, who was adorned in her violet dress, which exceptionally matched her violet eyes.

Her aroma traveled across the room and filled it with the essence of her bath soap.

She entered the room accompanied by the clicking sound of her heels on the marble floor, hair dancing on her shoulder and curls diving into another. To everybody's eyes, she looked a little different today.

During the two former meetings, Luciana never came with a beautiful appearance. The woman was too worried about the situation around the court, leading her to not care about her looks.

Sylvon's mind ran wilder with thoughts, the more he looked at her. Blood rushed towards his nose and breath came out in a heave.

Why is she looking so—

He involuntarily tapped the ring in his pocket and smiled with satisfaction, his thoughts ran miles, a beat skipped his heart as the realization of getting both power and a beauty with one move hit him. Definitely killing two birds with one stone.

"Good morning, Wolfocrates." Luciana greeted them with an unnatural smile on her face.

The tense princess was finally loosening up?

But how can they blame her, losing her father just prior to seven weeks, who in the right mind would act happy?

The Wolfocrates bowed to her as she took her seat on the corner, far away from Syvlon.

"Please be seated, the high member of Wolf Court." Her tone was smooth and relaxing as she commanded them.

She looked around at everyone's face before easing their anticipation with her voice, "A week has passed since Prime Minister's marriage proposal. I thank all the Wolfocrates for considering me a humble amount of time to make a better decision."

The court member nodded to her response and straightened their back as if it would grant them a clear answer.

And on the other corner, Sylvon sat with his hand folding on the table and looking at Luciana with an intense stare. Beside him was Kai, who was no longer sipping his tea and watched the princess from the corner of his eyes.

As everyone around the court sat silent in the court, the bird chirping in the noon light, while bathing in the fountain below came through the curtains of the hall.

Luciana stood up from her seat and bowed in apology before expressing her thoughts, "I, Luna Luciana, The princess of Blackmoon nation, the honour of Silverthread Royal bloodline, is apologizing to Prime Minister and all other members of Wolf Court with the claim that I would like to decline the marriage proposal. I hope the court stands by my reasoning and allows me to reject the proposal."

Everybody was shocked with Luciana's statement, or they pretended to be.

Kai, who acted shocked, nudged silently at Sylvon and smiled mockingly at his friend. But Sylvon didn't react to him, instead, he rose from his seat and raised his question. Although he seemed confident towards his proposal, he was also ready for rejection.

"What may have been your reason to reject my proposal, Your Majesty?"

"You are very victorious Sylvon. I have gone through your records and indeed, you are the glory to our kingdom, but..." Luciana paused speech mid-way.

She looked towards the East door and clapped her hands.

Again, the east door emerged open and a man with long braids, eyes hidden behind black blindfold, and dressed in a violet coat and sleek pants, entered the room with a cane in his hands.

"But I found someone better than you." Luciana ended her speech as Dylan walked over and stood beside her.
