Sector 55

She had called me, which I accepted. A small figure of her materialized itself.

-Hello! Kids, ready for your first mission.

Sharing the sentiment, we all said in unison. "Yes Ma'am!!! "

-Good, Now be ready I will drop you off at sector 55.

Blinding azure light emerged beneath our feets, following it the space below us cracked with a 'buzz' sound.

Before I could register anything, I was at a different location, most probably sector 55.

We were dropped in front of a desolate village…No, most probably it was slums.

The scenario was your usual typical slums, filled with stench, dirty and disgusting. Even the houses if you call them that, seemed like huts at best, tents to be precisely made up of creature carcasses.

Kaltain was holding his head, maybe he was dizzy.

He ruffled his hair. "It's exactly how I imagined, a wild place."

Azrael laughed at remarks. "Wild place? Just say it reeks of a stench and you're disgusted by it, don't sugarcoat it."

I was offended by his remarks, normally he seems like a caring fellow. This was the second time he made this remark, I guess his caring self is just a facade then.

"You don't have to be so rude, people living here didn't choose this life. They were forced, it's not like the government is doing anything for their well-being."

He was still laughing, not caring about my words. He looked me straight in the eyes. "Didn't choose? Vesna, people here are criminals at best whereas the rest are burdens. Waste of resources, please don't live in fantasy."

I was right about the fact, I should be isolated, focusing solely on my strength. People like these are nothing but burdens, even if I get stronger with these two. They will destroy the planet themselves, rotten pests who think human lives are just playthings.

He scoffed. "Oh, now you think we are the bad people. Don't think people deserve to live just because they exist. If you don't have any worth, even your family will ditch you."

I didn't know why he just switched, was he disturbed by something or some trauma he was reliving here. Either way, his real self made one thing sure for me, I should stay away from him.

Kaltain already is a mysterious fellow. I'm already on guard against him, might as well add another person on the list.

I really didn't want to listen to his voice again, so I made my way through the metal gate which was in front of us. Entered the area, leaving those two outside glaring at me from behind.

I could faintly hear Azrael telling Kaltain to leave me alone for now.

Coming here was a boon for me, at least I saw his real face, his real and disgusting thoughts.

...

Having already fought with Azrael, now that I was thinking with stable mind. I could understand where he was coming from, maybe even he has some trauma.

"I overreacted for sure."

Still it won't change the fact that I shouldn't associate with such people, even if he has some trauma he way of thinking is really bad.

Roaming around the streets, if that's what they were, I found some people here.

Their conditions were not good, appearance wise at least. They were wearing rags, actually not rags but hides of the creatures they had killed.

Their bodies were quite toned, bruised and battered too.

The gazes they were sending me were also not quite good, perhaps from my attire they judged I'm from the upper levels.

A sense of disgust for those in upper levels is valid for them, so I didn't take it to heart.

I ignored their uncomfortable gazes, greeting them. "Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Vesna, can you please tell me which direction I should take to reach the next sector. "

They didn't say anything for a moment, not even moved, they just stood still glaring at me.

After some time one of the ragged people, a boy approximately my age stood up.

"You should just…go straight…from here, then…go..left…"

He was stuttering profusely but still tried to explain the direction to me, which was very nice of him.

His accent was also quite different from what I was used to, but I didn't mind it.

Another one of them stood up, this to stop the boy from telling me the direction. He was an old man, which was quite surprising because of cosmic energy.

He didn't say anything, just pulled the boy back. They went somewhere deep through some alleyway.

While going back, the boy turned. "Go away…dangerous…place.."

Before he could have said anything else, he was dragged back. These people were intentionally avoiding me.

They started avoiding me after confirming I'm from the upper levels, mainly because of my speech pattern.

"Are they trying to do something?"

I knew I shouldn't be judging them as threats. Even so, whatever bullshit Azrael said, one thing was true for sure. They are criminals at the end of the day, they don't deserve to rot here but they aren't innocent too.

I have to stay on guard, just the fact I'm from the upper levels is enough to entice hatred from them. They didn't need any other reason to be hostile against me or those two.

I continued roaming around, hoping to eventually find out a way to the next sector. As every sector has a 10 km distance, the journey will be a long one.

If I wanted, I could have just run at sonic speed through the sector. But doing so would antagonize people here, which I seriously don't want to.

Eventually an hour goes by, I still couldn't find any clues to the next sector. As if it was hidden behind some unknown veil.

The place here was quite a pizzle itself too. Many long alleyways, similar tents and huts, even some matching carcass were thrown at many places.
