As Leyla continued to run her fingers through Naru's hair, he felt a soothing calm, but it wasn't enough to make him stop. His spirit was restless, and love mixed with teasing was not something that could be easily tamed.
"You know, I think something has changed..." Naru murmured, speaking more to himself than to her, but just loud enough for her to hear.
Leyla looked up at him cautiously. "What do you mean, Naru?"
"Well, maybe you're actually falling for me," he said with that familiar, teasing smile. "That's why you're petting me like this and worrying about me. You have nothing better to do, huh?"
Leyla rolled her eyes. "Don't start teasing me again, Naru."
"Wouldn't it be tragic if someone walked in right now and interrupted our cuddling?"
Leyla pressed her lips together, her cheeks tinged with pink. "Shh, you're so shameless," she whispered, trying to keep her composure.
Naru smirked, feeling the subtle shift in her demeanor, while she grew increasingly flustered.
A faint blush colored her forehead as a question that had been lingering in her mind started to slip from her lips, hesitant and clumsy.
"Naru... is it... is it possible... to have... a relationship with a human? And... intimate... relations... or..." She pressed her lips together and rolled her eyes. "Or, I mean, is it possible... to have a child?"
Her voice was quiet, almost fearful, as if she was afraid of offending him—or worse, that he might laugh at her.
For a moment, Naru was caught off guard. He was touched by her question, and his expression softened.
"Leyla... all of that is possible," he answered slowly, tilting his head toward hers. "But very few of us ever attempt it. Because the yokai world and the human world don't always mix easily, you know..."
Leyla still felt uneasy about her own question. I shouldn't have asked that, she thought. But there he was, completely serious, without a trace of mockery. His explanation was actually reassuring.
"So... it's possible," she repeated softly, feeling her heart pounding faster than she wanted to admit.
Naru raised his hand, gently caressing her cheek before sitting up to face her. His eyes were filled with both passion and respect. Without words, sensing the weight of the moment, his gaze deepened.
"Yes, Leyla, everything is possible," he said quietly as he sat beside her. Then, without warning, he slowly leaned in and kissed her—softly, yet intensely—as if every answer she was searching for could be found in that one kiss.
No words, no explanations. Just touch. Just a kiss that spoke louder than anything else.
Leyla remained in his arms, feeling everything suddenly become clearer, as if, in that moment, nothing else mattered.
Naru pulled back slightly, his eyes filled with warmth and devotion. "We'll never stop. I won't let you go, Leyla."
