December 7, 2024 | 7:00 AM | The Sky Ranger's Den | Robin Tower | Ottawa, Canada
Kepler wakes up in the freezing cold temperature of the city. He is still getting used to the cold climate. He grabs his phone and sees that it is seven in the morning. He leaves his bedroom and hears Ren taking a shower in one of the bathrooms. He grabs some new clothes from the drawer and hops on one of the other bathrooms. When he finishes taking a bath, he leaves the bathroom and notices a presence inside the living room. He carefully walks in case it's an invasion but is relieved to see a familiar face.
"Hey, how's it going?", Mr. Onzai smiles at him.
"I already took your contracts. You guys are officially members of The Sky Rangers, hooray," Mr. Onzai says.
"Great, is Ren still taking a bath?", Kepler asks.
"He sure does take forever to shower," Mr. Onzai responds.
"Are you hungry? Because I am," Mr. Onzai stretches his arms.
"A little hungry but not desperate," Kepler replies.
"This is gonna be a long day, superstar. Make sure you eat a lot," Mr. Onzai states.
"Where are we gonna eat breakfast?" Kepler asks.
"I know a place and it is my treat," Mr. Onzai says.
As the two discuss what food they want to eat, Ren steps out of the shower. He goes to the living room and joins the rangers.
"I heard both of you talk about food, now I'm hungry," Ren says.
"Alright, off we go," Mr. Onzai snaps all of them.
December 7, 2024 | 7:30 Am | Morning Sun Breakfast Buffet | Robin Tower | Ottawa, Canada
The three disappear and then reappear in front of the entrance of a buffet restaurant.
"The smell is making me more hungry," Ren smells the air.
"We are table five, I already booked us a reservation," Mr. Onzai tells them.
Kepler looks for table five and sits first. The three grab their plates and gather around to find food to eat. When they are finished, they sit back down on their chairs and discuss their schedule for the day.
"After this breakfast, we will have a private meeting with the lieutenant general in his office. So make sure you are full but not too full," Mr. Onzai says.
"Ah, work," Ren reacts.
"And then, later in the afternoon you will go training on the Uplands until evening," Mr. Onzai speaks.
"Got it," Kepler says.
"And of course, if there is another atmospheric anomaly or flying saucers around we will send you to investigate," Mr. Onzai adds.
"More, work," Ren eats his burger.
After the three finish their meals, Mr. Onzai pays the bill and then teleports them to LG Probe's office. The lieutenant general is busy doing some work but immediately postpones the paperwork when he sees the three show up at his office.
December 7, 2024 | 8:30 AM | LG Probe's Office | Department of National Defence Headquarters | Ottawa, Canada
"The rangers are fed and are ready," Mr. Onzai sits in his chair.
"Take a seat, you two, we got a lot to talk about today," Lieutenant General Probe smiles at them.
Kepler and Ren sit down and they begin the discussion.
"What is the physical appearance of the aliens?" the lieutenant general asks.
"I hate using the term alien," he mutters.
"Based on what I remember they seem to have two forms," Kepler answers.
"One is a pale-looking humanoid form and the other one is a translucent form that gives them an almost invisible appearance," Kepler adds.
"They kind of look like a vampire," Ren chimes in.
"They are also so cold as if they are made up of ice," Kepler says.
"Ice vampires? Aliens? What else are our theories?", the lieutenant general wonders.
"Aliens that look like ice vampires," Mr. Onzai joins in.
"You just combined the two," Ren says.
"That could be possible," Mr. Onzai defends himself.
"I also saw one of them transform into some kind of an ice beast," Kepler remembers.
"Oh, yeah, the one that took me down. That one was scary as heck," Ren says.
"And two of them transformed into a weapon," Kepler adds.
"Transfiguration, invisibility, what else are their powers?", the lieutenant general asks.
"Decagon is almost indestructible and can easily absorb my hypersonic attacks," Kepler answers.
"Triangle has a sniper rifle that can change into other weapons," Ren answers.
"And Pentagon can create clones and traps," Kepler responds.
"Their abilities don't seem to be very much of a threat. How indestructible was Decagon?", the lieutenant general asks.
"Indestructible enough to absorb my punches but not enough to survive an attack from a 4-Star Ranger," Kepler replies.
"First their abilities are not that strong to be a national threat. Second, their snow globe weapon can easily be countered by water. But what makes them dangerous is their motives and intentions of destroying our atmosphere," the lieutenant general says.
"And we don't know much about them, the lack of information is scary," Mr. Onzai.
"Why did they want to destroy our atmosphere?" the lieutenant general wonders.
"No idea," Kepler responds.
"Maybe, they hate humanity or whatever," Ren suggests.
"We still haven't figured it out," the lieutenant general says.
"What about the spaceship, what did you see?", the lieutenant general asks.
"Ren, you answer that question," Kepler looks at the ranger.
"Okay, I saw three things. First, a revival pod for the defeated aliens. Second, an ice cube where more of their kind spawns. And third, a holographic map of our world where five places are marked including Toronto," Ren explains.
"A revival pod for the aliens, which means it will be harder to defeat them. An ice cube where people like them spawns which means there's a lot more of them out there. And a holographic map where they marked five cities, which means they will probably plant more snow globes in," the lieutenant general brainstorms.
"That just made the situation more difficult. What are those places marked?", he asks.
"Toronto, New York, California, London, and Japan," Ren answers.
"Two cities, two states, and a country," the lieutenant general mutters.
"And based on what I know, the snowglobes absorb the life force of the non-rangers and use it to power it up so it can damage the atmosphere once it reaches the stratosphere, right?" he asks.
"Correct," Kepler answers.
"Then if my guess is correct, they are targeting big cities across the globe. Which means their next targets are: New York City, Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo," the lieutenant general guesses.
