On her way back to the Shen Family house, Ming Yue strayed from the path.
"What do I do?"
She wondered aloud while walking aimlessly across the street.
Her eyes darted around before stopping on a park not far away as she chose to be close to nature to refresh her self.
'Maybe I'll know what to do then...'
She mused before entering the park and taking in the view.
It was a simple park with a few swings, a sand area for kids to play, a few benches and some plantations to partition the park into playable parts.
After all, kids loved playing hide-and-seek, I-spy and many innovative games by themselves.
And it also made a walk through the park not so boring and monotonous due to the changing scenery.
And in that scenery, atop a tree sat a 8-year-old with mud smearing his clothes and face as he hid himself in the dense foliage.
"I'll definitely not get caught again," he murmured in a resolute face as he maneuvered the binoculars to look for his chasers.
The boy didn't seem to mind the environment or the riskiness of his situation as he simply wanted to "win" this game of hide-and-seek with his "friends".
It was truly a wonder if they were his friends since had gotten bored and left him without a care to keep hiding.
They didn't even bother informing him by shouting or anything else and just left a few minutes after none was caught.
Sadly, the boy was too naive as he smiled, "Heh! I'm so smart! No one has caught me till now."
While other kids might find it strange to not see anyone nearby, even after using binoculars, he didn't even get close to that thought process.
It was truly a wonder he managed to climb the tree with his nimble and short limbs.
Just as he was about to turn his head, he caught sight of a girl.
She sometimes frowned, sometimes smiled... which was quite eery.
Even the boy felt somewhat strange at that smile and couldn't help but shiver.
Due to the sudden movement, he almost lost his balance and fell.
Luckily, his reflexes were pretty good, saving him from many broken bones at best...
However, the sound and soft whimpers of his alerted Ming Yue who vigilantly looked around in the bushes.
'Hey system, is there some pervert or lecher in the bushes?'
Her tone was of "you-know-doing-what" made the system unable to respond for a second.
Then it finally did.
[No, Host. There's no one in the bushes nearby but... there's someone on top of the tree...]
Before the system could tell her it was an 8-year-old, she smirked with a 'I knew it!'
[Host! Wait! That's a kid!]
The system hurriedly informed her, successfully stopping her from kicking the tree trunk and bringing down the pervert she thought sat atop the tree.
After all, one would really get a "good view" from atop the tree.
"Hey, kid! I know you're up there! Come down on your own!"
She shouted, starting the child who had barely stabilized himself for a second.
Yet he didn't fall and the expected scene of saving a child to end up with a "You saved my brother. I will repay you with my body." cheesy line from CEO...
At certain points, Ming Yue found her own thought process leaving her speechless.
"Just what goes on in my mind?" She wondered before shouting again.
"Oi, kid! Come down or I'll come up!"
Hearing her shout, the naive kid was confused for a second before fear of being caught came in as he hurriedly decided to descend the tree.
He still didn't want to be caught by his friends...
Truly speechless.
Rustle
Splack
After reaching a height he considered safe, he kicked off the tree to land with a thud and turned to look at the uninvited guest with an irritated expression.
"What's the deal with you?" He asked, leaving Ming Yue speechless.
'He's just a kid... don't mind him,' she reminded herself for a moment, catching the vicious words at the tip of her tongue.
"Brat, do you even know how dangerous what you're doing is?"
"What's it with you?" The kid retorted, not caring about his inappropriate tone at all.
Hmph! Why should he care? She had even called him a brat!
"Hah! Kids these days," Ming Yue muttered, leaving the kid confused before a sharp pain hit him.
"Ow ow ow," he cried out as she continued to pull his ear before finally flicking on his forehead and letting go.
"It hurts," wheezed the boy through unshed tears.
It was the first time he suffered so much at the hands of a stranger.
It was lucky that his family didn't see it or they'd definitely send this troublesome kid to Ming Yue to teach.
Ahem, she could cause him to cry in pain from so little, just how weak was he?
Even Ming Yue was stunned that it would have such a huge impact on him.
[...Pathetic. He's such a weakling.]
Even a system mocked the kid...
Just how had he been raised to be so fragile yet be daring enough to climb a tree?
"Kid, if you fell or scraped your arms or legs, you'd be in many many times more pain than this, and that's the best-case-scenario."
Ming Yue patiently explained, choosing to ignore his pitiful expression as if he had been greatly wronged.
[Tsk, tsk, he surely has the potential to be a green tea!]
'Hmm,' Ming Yue agreed to it internally before chiding him outside.
Right when she was about to finish her lecture about child security, a man anxiously looking here and there finally noticed the boy and dashed towards him.
As if on instinct, Ming Yue stood in front of the child to shield him from the 'stranger.'
Though, it was all for naught.
"You...! Where'd you go?" The man shouted angrily as if he was never worried to begin with.
This kid really dared to go anywhere and without any aides, wasn't that just making his job as the kid's butler difficult?
"Uncle, you have to avenge me!"
The kid hurriedly shouted and rand towards the man as if he saw some light of salvation upon his decadant world.
"Huh? Huh?"
Even his butler was stunned, let alone Ming Yue.
'At least they know each other,' Ming Yue thought in relief before the unruly kid's next words infuriated her.
"Uncle, she hit me! You have to avenge me!"
"Kid, you can't go around blaming others for no reason! I saved you!" Ming Yue retorted sharply, not caring about lying through her teeth.
