CHAPTER 7~
~ZACHARY'S POV🤵💘💎~
I woke up early Tuesday morning and the first thing I checked was my phone.
Which was an unusual thing for me to do.
But I had to check if she replied my text.
I was once again met with disappointment.
She hasn't even read the message.
I dropped my phone and quickly got ready for work after doing some morning workout.
I had my breakfast and left for work without wasting much time.
~
Once I got to the office, I was informed by my secretary about some losses we had in the trade market last night.
"How did that happen? I thought we had everything under control." I said to her.
"I'm not sure sir. I wasn't expecting any losses to occur." She replied.
"Send the sample to my system. I'll find out what happened myself." I said to her and left the window where I was watching people coming in for work.
I guess I won't be seeing HER come in today.
I sat down on my chair, ready to work for the day.
~~~
After trying and trying to fix the problem for hours, I wasn't getting anywhere.
It got me almost frustrated.
I hated being unlucky in the trade market but sometimes losses happen. That I know.
But I needed to fix this particular one because a lot of money was involved.
And in addition to that, My father would mock me non-stop if he hears about this loss and I can't let that happen.
I checked my watch and saw it was already time for lunch break and sighed heavily.
I requested for a light lunch, a chicken salad, some fruits and a bottle of red wine, non alcoholic.
I can't take alcohol when I'm frustrated with work issues, only when I've tackled the problem.
My secretary brought in my order minutes later and placed it on my lunch table in my office.
Immediately she left, I went to the lunch table and ate the salad as fast as I could.
I felt like I was wasting time eating when I could be working.
My Mother always warned me when I was a child never to skip any meal, that if I did, she would find out and punish me one way or the other, and that warning has always sticked with me up until now.
When I was done with my lunch, I went back to the computer to continue tackling the problem.
Everything I was doing seemed not to be working and I was already getting exhausted.
I relaxed back on my chair, looking up at the ceiling, thinking.
I haven't seen My Angel all day, not even a glimpse of her.
I wonder what she's doing now. Probably eating lunch.
I smiled to myself as I kept thinking about her.
I wondered how she looked like today, what she was wearing, if she had her hair down or up, if she was happy to be here.
I realized Thinking about her wasn't enough for me. I needed to see her. Even if it was for a little while.
I sent for one of the security men and he came into the office without delay.
"I need you to bring in one Miss Kimberly Gilbert for me, she's in the Meetings Board department." I told him and he nodded.
"Okay sir. I'm on it." He replied and left the office.
I waited for a while for a feedback before the security man returned.
"She's here sir. At the coffee machine stand." He informed me.
"Thank you." I said to him and let out a sharp breath.
Why was I suddenly nervous?
I never knew seeing someone would become such a big deal to me one day.
I stretched myself and adjusted my suit, making sure I was looking okay before leaving my office to the coffee stand.
My pace slowed down as I approached closer to the stand.
Why is my heart beating so fast?
Calm down Zach, calm yourself down.
Once I got there, I saw her.
She was sitting elegantly on one of the waiting chairs, looking around with gleaming eyes.
Wow.
I don't understand how this girl manages to take my breath away every time I see her.
I summoned the courage to sit down on one of the chairs, giving a good distance from her.
I couldn't stare at her anymore, she was too beautiful.
I rested my head on the chair and closed my eyes, I could smell the alluring fragrance of her feminine perfume.
She smells so good, even from this distance.
After breathing in the air around me, I stood up from the chair.
I needed to come closer to her.
I walked towards the coffee machine, close to where she was sitting and poured a cup of coffee for myself.
I took a deep breath, enjoying her smell, before gulping the cup of coffee down at one go.
I threw the cup in the trashcan and went back to sit down, but this time, purposely sitting on a seat that is five seats closer to where she was sitting.
I contemplated wether to say hi or not and decided to do it.
"Hi." I said to her, observing her facial expressions.
I hoped for her not to be creeped out of me.
"Um...hi." she replied, looking at me briefly before looking away.
She must be shy.
This is the first conversation I'm having with her and I was feeling so happy and nervous at the same time.
"You must be new here." I said to her and regretted it immediately.
What is wrong with you Zach?
"Yes. I am. Just started yesterday." She replied me and pursed her lips.
I simply nodded at her unsure of what to respond with.
Having conversations with people is one of the things that came naturally to me but with her, my mind is completely blank on what to say.
"So do you work here too?" She asked me.
I observed her face, she was looking at me hopefully. I didn't know how it would make her feel if I told her I owned the company.
It's probably best if she doesn't know yet. Atleast not until we're closer to each other.
"Yes I work here too." I said to her.
"Good to know." She said to me, nodded and looked away from me.
I kept staring at her, thinking of what next I could ask of her without being too obvious.
"So what's your boss like? I was told he's asking for me. I just hope I'm not in any sort of trouble or anything." She said to me.
I don't know why I was a little amused by her statement.
"Why? Did you do anything that would get you in trouble?" I asked her.
"No. Of course not. Today's just my second day here. It's too early to get into trouble." She said to me and I couldn't help but smile.
She's cute.
"Then you have nothing to worry about." I said to her and she nodded.
"So... what is he like? The boss?" She asked again.
I didn't know how to answer that so I tried to evade it.
"I'm sure you'll find out soon enough." I said to her and rested my head on the chair again, closing my eyes.
I was enjoying the moment with her. Even though we didn't talk much but it was still very memorable for me.
We sat in silence for minutes. I peeped at her occasionally from the corner of my eyes to see what she was doing.
After a while, she began to look nervous and uncomfortable to me, so I decided to release her.
After taking in one more deep breath, I stood up from the seat.
"I should take my leave now Miss Kimberly. Congratulations on getting the job and good luck on your stay here. I hope to see you some other time." I said to her and observed her face one more time before leaving the coffee stand without turning back.
And believe me I wanted to turn back.
~
I got back to my office and called the security man.
"Please dismiss Miss Kimberly Gilbert. Tell her she's free to go and I'm busy with work. And I apologize if I disturbed her from her lunch break." I said to him and he nodded.
"Okay sir." He responded and left the office.
I sat down on my chair, smiling ear to ear, what a lovely day today is.
After recalling everything that happened earlier, I was satisfied.
I'm happy I'm making progress. Atleast I've finally spoken to her and she to me.
I focused back on the work on my system, and this time around, everything seemed clearer to me than before and I could see where my mistakes were coming from.
I fixed the problem in no time and the trade market started selling rapidly again.
Today is a good day.
I sent the remaining work to my secretary to complete, showing her the process I followed to raise the selling rates.
Once it was time to go home, i took my bag and left the office to my car that was parked outside.
I was hoping to see My Angel but was disappointed when I didn't catch a sight of her.
~~~
After I got home and settled in for the night, I picked up my phone to check if I've gotten any replies yet from her.
I saw that she hadn't replied yet to my text but she was online since the green dot was displaying on her profile.
I decided to text her again.
(Do you always ignore your inbox?) I clicked send.
I waited for some minutes and saw she was typing.. my heartbeat suddenly started beating faster.
(Do you always text people you don't know and demand for a reply?) She sent to me and I smiled.
Atleast she texted back.
(No I don't usually do that except for rare cases like yours.) I sent.
I waited for minutes and minutes and still didn't get a reply.
This is hard. I don't usually have to struggle this much to get a girl's attention.
(Are you there, pretty?) I sent.
(No I'm not.) She sent.
(Hm. Yes you are.) I sent with a smile on my face.
(Heaven must be in chaos right now.) I sent to her.
(????) She sent.
(An angel is missing in heaven.) I sent.
(🤔?) She sent.
(YOU are missing in heaven.) I sent to her.
(🙄 Try again. I've heard that one before.) she sent to me and I chuckled.
(Yeah but not from me.) I sent to her.
I waited a few minutes and didn't get a reply.
(How did your day go?) I sent to her.
(Shouldn't concern you.) She sent.
(But it does because I care.) I sent to her.
(Why do you care? You don't know me.) She sent to me.
(Who says I don't know you. I know enough. Trust me.) I sent to her.
(That's a creepy thing to say to someone you haven't met before.) she sent to me.
(You're right. I'm sorry for being creepy. I don't know you but I would very much like to know you. Please.) I sent to her.
(No thanks.) She sent to me.
I let out a heavy breath.
She's way more friendly in person than online.
I guess I should be happy.
She doesn't give chances easily to men online.
I guess I'll do everything I can to win her over.
(Okay. You must be exhausted from work.) I sent to her.
(How did you know I'm working?) She sent to me.
(Wild guess 😉) I sent to her.
(Are you feeling sleepy? It's getting late, don't you think so?) I sent to her.
(I do.) She sent.
(Have a lovely night rest Kimberly.) I sent to her.
I waited for her response but didn't get any.
I kept my phone and relaxed on my bed.
Today was one of my best days. I got to talk with Kimberly Gilbert, both in person and online.
Can't wait to see how tomorrow will be, I just hope it tops today.
