Saki's interface displays another text 'Attack' as the slime prepares to attack. Once again, Saki raised her sword higher. "Saki, are you an idiot? Stop taking the slime's damage and dodge!" Abigail yells. Saki's gaze turns to her interface and yells back. "How?".
"How?!" Abigail yells Saki's response back in disbelief, her body slightly slumping down. "What do you mean 'How?!', Saki Nisshin?" She added. "Sh-shut up, Abigail Sylviana!" Saki was already red on the face as she realized her stupid response. When Abigail yelled to dodge, she dashed through her options in the battle and found no dodge option. Then she quickly remembered that she could dodge on her own. The system counts it as a defend option.
As if the slime was bewildered by the two's back and forth, its initial attack was canceled and a new one appeared. Another text displays 'Attack' on Saki's interface. Saki readies herself to dodge. As the slime jumped, Saki immediately moved aside and slammed its body against the air. "Yes! I did it!" She cheers. "You're happy that you were able to step away from its attack's direction? You keep surprising me, Saki" Abigail shook her head. Saki stomps and whines. "Ahh! Keep your mouth shut already, Abigail!" Then she sighed sharply and focused on the battle.
She reads in the interface 'Slime attacks Saki!' 'But Saki moved aside!' She took another closer look at the logs. "Why did it specifically say that I moved aside? Wasn't it supposed to be me evading its attack?" She asked. "Well, you just moved aside, didn't you? You didn't evade or anything" Abigail replied briefly. "What do you mean?! I dodged its attack!" Saki complained.
"Really, You should see someone evading attacks, you will see the difference. You just stepped to the side" Abigail snickered at Saki. "Grr...! I can't believe this!" Saki stomps again in irritation and focuses on the battle. "Haah...!" She put all her frustration into her attack and swung her sword against the slime. But just like her earlier attempts, her sword just bounced off.
"Use your weight to amplify your strike! When you attack, shift your weight, push off with your legs, and drive your hips forward!" Abigail yells. Saki acknowledged her words. She did as she told, repeating her advice word by word, and adjusted her body for her attack. "Haah...!" She let out a yell as she struck the slime with the support of her body. However, her sword only digs slightly into the slime before bouncing it away. "Still not enough?!" Saki said in disbelief.
"How about striking with the gravity?!" Abigail yells. Saki understood what she meant. She advised to strike from the top. After her attack, it was the slime's turn. The slime attacks again. And just like earlier, Saki stepped aside as soon as the slime jumped. After its attack missed, it was Saki's turn.
She raised her sword above her head and yelled. "Haah...!" With her yell, along with the gravity and the sword's weight, she swung down against the slime, hitting with every force she could gather. Her sword dug deep into the slime. "Kyaah...!" The slime yelped in pain. Saki gasps and laughs. "Yes! It worked!" She quickly pulls her sword out of the slime and turns to her interface. 'Saki attacks Slime' 'Slime takes 10 damage'
Her damage was the lowest of the base damage, but she didn't mind. Her attack worked finally and that's all that mattered to her. She looked back at the slime. It had a hurt expression and was vibrating as it flinches its eyes. "It hurts, doesn't it?!" Saki taunted, and after she spoke, the slime regenerated its body. The cut she dealt with initially has disappeared. "What?!" Saki yelled in disbelief and turned to her interface. At the end of the previous turn, the last text displays 'Slime Regeneration' 'Slime reinvigorates its cells!' 'Slime regained 10 hp'
"Can you swing faster than its regeneration?" Abigail asked. "I'll try!" Saki readies to dodge again. As the slime jumps up, Saki once again steps aside to dodge. Having her turn, she swung her sword down just like last time, and sure enough, it damaged the slime again. "Now again!" She quickly pulled out her sword and raised it again. But before she could swing down, the slime already regenerated. When her sword hit the slime, it took another 10 damage. When she pulled her sword out, it regenerated back to its full health.
"So stubborn!" Saki clicks her tongue in annoyance, her face forming into anger. As she dodged the slime's attack, she quickly began her turn. She swung her sword from the top, damaged the slime, and quickly pulled it out. This time, she swung from the right. But like her previous attempts to slice the slime from the side, her sword bounced off the slime. The slime regenerated itself to full hp.
"I can't..." Saki knew she would tire herself quickly if she attempted any more attack after attack. She stands still and catches her breath.
"I'm sorry to say it, but your arms are still too weak to slash it from any side" Abigail told her. "Then what do you think I should do?" Saki asked without taking her eyes off the slime. "Plunge your sword into it". That's right, she hasn't tried thrusting her sword's tip into the slime. She slapped herself internally as she quickly realized this. "Okay, got it!" As she dodged the slime's attack again, she quickly made her turn.
Saki grunts as she points her sword's tip into the slime and focuses all her strength into her arms as she thrusts the sword deep into the slime. She felt her sword breaking a tension as she dug its tip deep into the slime. "Hah! That works!" She cheered. She read on the interface. 'Saki attacks Slime' 'Slime takes 15 damage'. "Kh... Kh...!" The slime struggled to let out a cry as it felt intense pain and vibrated as soon as she pulled out her sword.
'Slime regeneration' The text displayed on Saki's interface and she immediately went into action. "Hey!" In a hurry, she swung her sword at the slime but her attack bounced off. After that attack, the slime regenerated again and back to its full hp. "Ah, you're so annoying..." Saki clicks her tongue again as she sees the slime's hp back to full.
Abigail giggled quietly behind as she witnessed her struggle. Hearing her, Saki finally decides on a final move. She prepared to step aside to dodge the slime's attack, but it looked like it was shocked. "You won't attack? Then it's my victory!" She cheered, raised her sword above, and swung down, dealing 13 damage. She quickly pulls out her sword and thrusts its tip back into the slime, dealing another 15 damage.
The slime bursts, scattering slimy particles and splattering into the ground, leaving her sword in the air. "Hah! Yes!" She grips her sword with both of her hands close to her chest and cheers. "I won! Take that!" She laughs.
Abigail claps behind her. "Good job!" She looked delighted at Saki's victory. With a triumphant smile, Saki swings her sword to the side to send the slime's remnants off her sword before sheathing it. "Ah, that was so cool!" She muttered as she imagined herself doing it.
She turned to Abigail, who still had her hands clasped together with a smile on her face. "How does it feel? It's rare for a mere villager to win against a slime, you know?" She asked. Saki let out a small sigh and said. "Tiring. These slimes looked soft and squishy, but they were actually tough. To think an iron sword won't just cut it". Abigail walks to approach her.
"No living organism was born and evolved to be the prey" She stated. "Huh? Well, what about the deer and other harmless animals then?" Saki crossed her arms. Abigail just giggled and didn't give a response. It was typical of her, Saki thought. She wasn't certain if Abigail always knew what she was saying or not. She grew to just let her be whenever she refused to give answers.
"Anyway, despite everything, it was fun. It fires my spirit, and I want to keep fighting" Saki said as she went through her interface. "Hey, look! I got exp! But what is it for? Am I gonna rank up to a villager rank 2?" She joked as she read 'Saki defeated Slime!' 'Saki earned 25 exp!' in the after-battle log. "I wonder what is it for" Abigail replied. Saki sensed in her voice that she was not telling something. She pushed the thought aside and walked further into the forest. Abigail follows beside her.
