[ Leo ]

The classroom was chaotic. The bell was about to ring, however nobody was even ready to be taught anything, still discussing the previous events.

Geoffrey walked toward his desk, it was as good as new.

Actually, that's a new desk...

As he made his way to it, everyone's head turned toward him. The moment he sat in his seat, a small crowd amassed around him.

"Hey! You know about what happened earlier? On your desk—"

"Leo, he was attacked and left on my desk, I know."

Chatter and whispers filled the small crowd, who turned to each other, worried expressions on their faces.

Are they concerned? For me?

Peter approached, making his way through the small crowd.

"Geoffrey, right?" said Peter.

"Yes."

Peter didn't look bothered, concerned or worried. He looked confident, if anything.

"I'm sorry... If only I had been there, maybe I could've done something," said Peter.

As he said that, he turned his head as if the emotion was getting to him, dramatically holding his nose bridge.

A girl next to him gently touched his shoulder. "It wasn't your fault, nobody could've expected this."

"She's right, Peter, it's not your fault," said Geoffrey.

Other students chimed in, trying to be supportive.

"Thanks, everyone..."

Peter looked at them smiling, grabbing some shoulders and nodding.

Once he was done, he turned toward Geoffrey once more.

"You should probably lay low for a few days. I heard that the disciplinary committee is looking for the culprit, but since you were directly threatened I don't think it's safe at all," said Peter.

"I'll be fine," replied Geoffrey.

"No really, they could be coming back for you at any time..." said another one of them.

A symphony of people agreeing was performing before him, as he sat in his chair rubbing the back of his head.

Ehh.

"I'd rather not miss any school days, we don't know if they could impact my current grade," said Geoffrey.

Geoffrey could see as some of them bit their lips, realizing it might prove more hurtful to skip school.

"Then let's have someone escort you, this would be a lot safer," said Peter.

Another symphony rose, as everyone seemed to agree with his 'brilliant' idea.

Right, so they will assign someone to essentially follow me, ironic.

Geoffrey raised both hands while shrugging, a slightly defeated look on his face.

"So be it. Let's have someone risk being attacked alongside with me. Who wants to do it?"

The smiles quickly vanished as they realized the danger associated with the task.

Everyone will agree with the nice solution, but nobody will take the risk that comes with.

Peter smiled while nodding. He looked like he anticipated the turn of events, ready to

"How about Ryan? You know each-other, right?" said Peter.

Ryan took a step forward, his face unlike what it was earlier. He wasn't as stressed and anxious, granted Leo wasn't resting on his desk anymore, but still.

"I'd be happy to do it," said Ryan.

Everyone smiled, happy that there was a resolution to the matter.

"Ryan?" said Geoffrey.

Peter slightly frowned. "Is there a problem with Ryan?"

They became silent once more, wondering what objection Geoffrey could've had this time.

"There's no problems. I just recall him opening his profile on the first day, and to quote: '[ Gift: Lumen ] Infuse light in things that otherwise have none.'"

He could see Peter's expression hinting at annoyance as he gazed at Ryan with an accusatory look.

The other students, oblivious, asked Geoffrey. "What are you trying to say?"

He tapped his lips with the tip of his finger, feigning careful thinking.

"Well, his gift wouldn't be very helpful if we were ever attacked... It wouldn't deter anyone, right? I could be wrong, of course..."

"I'll do it."

Everyone turned around, shocked.

Even Geoffrey's eyes opened wider as he heard that voice for the first time.

The student who spent the past days sleeping on his desk had finally spoken, his low rugged voice finally gracing their ears.

His head was hovering over his desk, his eyes barely opened as he gazed at the small crowd.

Besides looking tired, even more than the disciplinary committee's president, he looked invested in the conversation.

"You... want to be Geoffrey's escort?" asked Peter, hesitating.

"Yeah. My gift is the offensive type."

"We don't even know your name," started Peter.

"It's Levi."

"I don't know..." said Peter.

"Well, if he's willing and has an offensive gift I have nothing against it. Thanks for your help, Levi," said Geoffrey.

"Don't worry about it."

A loud 'thonk' could be heard through the class, Levi's head hitting his desk once more.

The crowd dissolved, the students happy with their proactive action.

Levi was quite mysterious, if anything, most forgot he even was part of the class.

He never participated, or spoke.

He was seen several times leaving the class in complete silence, and when someone tried waking him up, he simply ignored them.

Still better than Peter's lap dog.

"Ah, there you are. You've heard—" started Rei, who just arrived.

"—Leo? I know. He's at the infirmary," quickly cut Geoffrey.

"It's sad that it has come to this. We should be helping each others to overcome Death's sick games, yet people would rather choose violence? Makes little sense to me."

"I agree. I can't understand why some would choose violence. This was a rash, bold, and foolish move."

"You'll be fine?" asked Rei.

"Yeah, Levi will be escorting me around."

"Good! Make sure to ask me if you ever need help, I'll make time for you no matter what."

"Thanks," said Geoffrey.

Geoffrey looked forward, surprised.

Jet is awfully quiet, today.

He tilted his head to the side, and hovered above Jet's shoulder.

Is that?!

Geoffrey sat back down, a smile on his face. It was a faint one, however, on the inside, he was cackling uncontrollably.

Jet, who had been in his own world, was having a lot of fun.

Skillfully, he was spinning a white card at the tip of his finger, making it jump once in a while, his tongue out as he tried balancing it at the best of his ability.

Unbelievable.
