Finally, the time had come to make my last wish. Once it was granted, I would be sent to my new life. The few hours I had spent in this realm had been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride—one filled with highs and lows that some might not even experience in an entire lifetime.
But the most astonishing part of it all was meeting her—the goddess.
A part of me wanted to know more about her. Now that I had calmed down, lingering questions surfaced in my mind. Earlier, she had mentioned that my previous life wouldn't have been filled with so much sorrow if not for a mistake made by a god. I wanted to know—who was this god?
The goddess before me had helped me in countless ways—granting me the power of time, skills and traits to enhance my talents, a system to acquire bloodlines and abilities, two mystical pets, and an extraordinary power to transform dark magic into pure white magic.
She claimed it was her responsibility to compensate me for my past life's misfortunes, but why had she gone to such great lengths? She had even offered to erase my past memories and grant me precognitive abilities so that I could feel secure in my new life.
She had tried—tried so hard—to undo the pain, the tragedies, and the suffering I had endured.
I let out a deep sigh, overwhelmed by these thoughts.
Taking a deep breath, I steeled my resolve and looked up—only to find an empty pavilion.
Confused, panic surged through me.
Was it all a dream? Was this nothing more than an illusion? A fabrication of my own mind?
A hundred questions rushed through my head all at once.
Then, sensing a shift in the sky, I turned around—and what I saw left me speechless.
The goddess stood in midair, her robes flowing as though caught in an unseen current. With a single wave of her hand, darkness and light intertwined, forming a glowing circle before her.
And then—I saw it.
I saw the birth of civilization.
I saw war and peace, love and hatred, famine and prosperity.
I saw clear blue skies and dark, thundering nights.
I saw lush forests and barren deserts.
I saw crowded cities and quiet villages.
It was as if time had frozen, yet before my eyes, these images moved—like fleeting glimpses of history.
Each scene appeared in pairs—creation followed by destruction. I saw kingdoms rise, only to crumble into dust. I saw life bloom in one moment and wither in the next.
It was both beautiful and terrifying.
After what felt like an eternity, I shut my eyes, trying to calm the turmoil within me.
Then, a single word echoed through the silence.
"Nyx."
I opened my eyes to find the goddess gazing at me.
"I am Nyx, a primordial goddess born from chaos. I represent darkness—its peace, its mystery, and even… its fear. My domain is intertwined with shadows, sleep, dreams, and even death. I am the embodiment of the vast, unknowable power of the night itself."
She paused before continuing.
"As humans evolved and built civilizations, they created new gods and goddesses in their own image, forming pantheons to suit their beliefs. But very few realize that we have always existed. Every god or goddess they imagined, they became real."
She looked directly at me before speaking again.
"A minor god, responsible for the fate of all people born in 1981, made a grievous mistake. He fell asleep while reviewing your records. In his negligence, instead of a green light, you were stamped with a red light, marking you for a life filled with misfortune."
I felt my heart clench.
So, my suffering… all the pain and hardship I endured… had been caused by one careless mistake?
But Nyx wasn't finished.
"As a primordial goddess, an upper echelon of divine beings, I have chosen to correct that mistake. And do you know why?"
I shook my head, unable to answer.
"Because of your smile."
My breath caught in my throat.
Out of all the reasons I had expected, this was the last thing I could have imagined.
Nyx's voice softened.
"Every night, out of all the people on Earth, only you found solace in the darkness. You smiled at night. You begged for night to arrive early, seeking comfort in its embrace, "
"Countless eons have passed since I last encountered a soul who found peace in my domain. That is why I came to you. That is why I have offered you guidance, protection, and all the tools you need to build a better future, "
"And that, my child, is why I am here—to comfort you, to watch over you, and to provide for you… like a mother."
A mother.
I had heard that word countless times—spoken by others, cherished by children who had a loving family.
But never for me.
No one had ever wanted to be a mother to a child like me—a harbinger of misfortune.
No one had ever embraced me, comforted me, or wished me happy birthday.
My vision blurred with unshed tears as a single question escaped my lips.
"Will I ever see you again… in my next life?"
Nyx smiled.
"The gods oversee countless parallel worlds, but the one you are being sent to… you will find me there. You will find all the gods and goddesses of this world. We will be watching over you."
She then leaned forward, her expression playful.
"Now, go on. Make your final wish. I'm sure you're eager to meet your new family, test your abilities, and perhaps… cause a little mischief." She winked, letting out a soft, knowing laugh.
A chuckle slipped from my lips.
Taking a deep breath, I made my final wish.
"For my last wish, I want my family to be protected from all misfortunes and accidents—whether caused by gods or humans. I want them to smile and live happily for the rest of their lives."
Nyx's gaze softened.
"Granted."
Her voice carried a divine weight as she declared,
"No evil power or entity, no god or goddess, no human—male or female—shall ever bring misfortune upon you or your family.
"As a primordial goddess, I give you my word—fate will never again play cruel tricks on you."
And with that—
I had completed all five wishes.

As the sun emerged from behind the mountains, its golden rays chased away the lingering darkness. It felt like a cycle—one force approaching as the other receded, a seamless balance between night and day.
I stood there, uncertain of what to do next. Should I thank her? Should I bow now that I knew she was a greater goddess? Should I simply offer a respectful nod and leave, making a cool exit?
Never in my life had I been so utterly at a loss.
Perhaps my hesitation was amusing because the goddess suddenly burst into laughter.
"Humans…" she mused, shaking her head in amusement. Her tone wasn't scornful—if anything, it was filled with warmth, as if she found my predicament endearing.
Then, with a gentle smile, she spoke once more.
"Go on. This won't be the last time you see us. I will be watching over you. Make sure to bring some color into my dark domain. Goodbye."
Before I could respond, a brilliant light engulfed me, forcing me to shut my eyes.
And then—I was pulled.
A powerful force dragged me forward, overwhelming my senses. I had no control, no way to resist. My mind swayed, my body felt weightless, and before I could make sense of what was happening—
Everything went dark.
My consciousness faded.
Perhaps the next time I opened my eyes, I would be in my new world.
Harry Potter… I'm coming.
