He felt a liberating sensation envelop his eyes as well as a brilliant ray of white light envelop his whole being.
His golden eyes shone with brilliant golden light, and he began seeing it. He saw almost everything happening around him in astonishing detail.
Time itself seemed to slow down before his eyes! His knees dug on the ground, he was trembling from fear, but his eyes—his eyes were completely focused on the battle raging in front of him.
He watched every move the demon made, every strike the awakened delivered, the flash of Katana, the collision of strikes, the rippling of muscles! He forgot to even blink but not to observe the battle.
He watched as the demon delivered one devastating attack after another, each attack capable of unimaginable destruction. He watched as the awakened warrior parried each and every attack with shocking skill and precision.
The demon's physical might was disturbing; each step shook the ground, and its each strike threatened to tear the very fabric of reality.
The demon used all its six demonic hands with deadly skill, its each and every attack calculated, precise, and deadly. Its claws flashed with inhuman speed—surpassing the speed of sound itself.
The warrior looked no less deadly.
Even though he was half the size of the demonic giant and clearly outclassed in pure physical power, he made up for it with years of experience, cunning, and technique.
His blade moved in a way that defied common sense and even laws of physics—
he skillfully deflected every attack the demon had delivered. The ground beneath their feet shook and cracked as they fought.
The sheer lethality of their clash was utterly shocking.
The demon was powerful, cunning, and terrifying. It fought like it was having fun, causing the ground to shake and shatter with each attack.
The warrior was not weak either; he fought like a devil possessed. He fought the demon on equal footing, not because he was strong but because he was skilled.
More skilled than anyone had any right to be.
Hid pure skill and technique surpassed that of mighty demon itself. His sword met each and every strike the demon made. They both moved with inhuman speed, appearing at several places at the same time as their attacks met.
Ren watched with bated breath, not failing to miss a single move they made. For a moment, the battle looked like it would go on forever, but suddenly, the demon backed away! Not because it was scared but because it was time for it to get serious.
Its bestial face somehow looked even more sinister.
The warrior was confused when the demon suddenly backed away but regained his composure right away.
He was fighting a rank four demon. He was panting heavily, and his body was covered with shallow wounds, even though he had deflected every attack.
He got Injured. He knew he must kill the demon today but also couldn't let his guard down or make hasty moves.
Even though he was a near demigod-ranked awakened, the demon outclassed him. If he let the demon escape or failed to kill it today, he couldn't even imagine the destruction it would bring upon.
So, he was determined to kill it today, no matter the price, even if he had to sacrifice himself for this cause.
But the question was how? He could barely keep up with the demon, so how was he going to kill it? It wasn't the opponent he was supposed to face. But his Lord Norman, a Rank Four demigod, wasn't here, so what choice did he have?
A rank four demon wasn't supposed to appear here—not today. He had no idea how and why a demon of this rank had appeared here today of all times.
Today, he was supposed to take it easy and rest as the vice leader of the city welfare club, but here he was, fighting an impossible battle.
The demon was about to get serious, and here he was, forever serious and already panting.
He observed the demon's every movement with rapt focus, determined to not miss a single detail because he knew a single mistake was all it would take for him to ascend to afterlife.
The demon had acknowledged his strength and was about to attack him with all its demonic might.
So, he waited—waited for a chance to appear, an opening long enough for him to unleash his deadliest move.
After what felt like eternity, the demon moved again...
An evil and sinister smile appeared on its beastly face, capable of frightening anything. Its aura intensified, muscles rippled, and darkness surrounding it became even darker.
Its six demonic horns emitted an otherworldly purple glow that felt utterly wrong, and it happened.
The demon raised one of its hands, not towards the awakened in front of it but towards its own head. And with a cruel snap, the demon ripped one of its own horns and crushed it in its fist.
The horn disintegrated and vanished, and time froze.
For a fraction of a second, everything stopped, every person, every movement, literally everything, except for the mighty demon itself.
The demon didn't stop.
It moved faster than ever.
In an instant, it appeared right in front of the warrior, frozen there in time.
The demon rammed its fist on the warrior's chest with enough force to crush a building to dust.
Time flowed again. The warrior flew back like a rock thrown by slingshot and crashed on the wall.
Everything happened in an instant – no, it didn't even take an instant; time was frozen after all. The warrior didn't even have the time to feel pain because the demon wasn't done yet.
The demon ripped another of its horns and crushed it.
Time froze again.
Demon attacked again, aiming for the warrior's right leg the demon delivered a devastating kick.
Time flowed… again.
The warrior's leg shattered, crushed by the force of the kick.
But the demon was not done yet.
It crushed another horn.
Time froze again.
The warrior's remaining leg also got crushed.
Time flowed again then froze again.
Warrior's arm broke – shattered.
Time flowed again then froze again
Warrior's remaining arm also broke, got crushed
Time flowed back in.
The demon finally stopped with just a horn remaining on its head, other five already gone, used.
Used to activate it's trump card, to freeze time.
The demon wasn't killing him, nor defeating him it was toying with him.
The warrior lay on ground was barely alive, bloody and battered, his breathing almost unnoticeable. But the demon wasn't unscathed either.
Using its trump card five times in a row had taken a heavy toll on its body. Its body wrecked by moving in frozen time.
But it didn't seem to care about any of that. That lunatic of a demon had a wick sadistic grin on its face. Its eyes filled with wicked pleasure.
It was bleeding heavily from the place where five demonic horns used to be. Its movement had become slow but it didn't care. It was weakened but that too the demon didn't care.
all it cared about the sadistic pleasure he felt while tormenting the man in front of it. It was addicted to it, to that pleasure.
The warrior, utterly broken was crushed, his limbs shattered, his chest caved was about to die without knowing how, he never saw any attack coming all he saw was the demon that was ripping its own horn and after that, only blurred world and terrible agony.
He didn't want to die, not like this, not now. It wasn't time for him to die yet, he still had many things to do. He couldn't give up, not now, not after being toyed with so crushingly.
The demon moved, Its steps slow but inevitable. Its step felt like the cruel drums of death.
With each step the demon made the warrior flinched. He wanted to get up, he wanted to fight, he wanted to rip apart the bastard that had humiliated him like this but he couldn't and he knew it.
He had no arms left to hold the sword nor any legs to stand, even his heart was slowly failing him, his mind was no better.
The demon arrived In front of the half dead corpse of a once mighty warrior and slowly raised its leg, aiming to crush the head that was beneath it.
Just as it was about to deliver that cruel stomp something happened – something that changed the course of the battle.
A miracle.
The demon lost in sadistic pleasure hadn't paid any attention to those two weak humans that were watching from afar. The demon knew they were weak, terribly weak and not worth its time.
And how it was going to pay for that one mistake.
A brilliant white light enveloped the battered body of the warrior. The demon instinctively backed away. And in an instant the warrior's wounds healed. He became as good as new.
