Gathering followers with a demigod

The system usually grants different quests to users for their rank-up. The quests they receive usually depend on their skills as well as the situation and sometimes even desire if it's intense enough.

But all of it changes from demigod rank. The quests players users receive to rank up to demigod and above are exactly the same.

We can take the demigod rank-up quest for example. The quest to be a demigod is to create a legend befitting that of a demigod.

As soon as she saw the divine flower, the receptionist woman who was barely standing beside Ren ran forward with speed Ren didn't know she was capable of.

Ren followed behind her. As soon as she reached near the flower, she dropped on her knees, clasped together, and started muttering something under her breath.

Ren watched all this with a face that seemed to say, "I don't know which expression to make."

The woman was showing no sign of getting up from her kneeling position anytime soon, so Ren kindly moved his attention toward the flower bud that was pulsating from the sacred aura of divinity.

The flower looked serene and very, very sacred, untouched by the impurity of the world. It was pure—so pure that it put any purity Ren had ever known to shame.

At first, Ren wasn't that curious about the flower because of the towering corpse of the demon lying down a little far.

But as soon as he placed his gaze upon the flower bud, it captured and pulled every ounce of his attention toward itself.

All thoughts vanished, all desires vanished. Greed, fear, love, hatred, anger, kindness—everything just vanished.

Every thought he had ever had, every dream he had ever dreamt, every memory, every experience, every emotion… just vanished.

Ren felt like nothing, as if he had merged with nothingness and become one with it.

There was no such thing as mind anymore, nor any thoughts. Feelings were there no more.

Dreams were there no more.

Light was there no more.

Darkness was there no more.

There was only stilled nothingness.

And that very nothingness gave birth to a desire. Shallow at first, but soon intense, so intense that it threatened to swallow his whole being down to the soul or perhaps even beyond that.

It wasn't the desire to destroy, nor the desire to create, not even love, but to worship.

Worship something great, something beyond… something ….divine.

Ren fell on his knees clasped his hands together and began muttering something his under his breath.

His eyes never closed, never blinked, never moved, never turned, not failing to gaze at the flower of the divine in front of him even for a second.

Seconds passed, minutes passed and even hours.

Finally the warrior within the flower bud stirred and opened his eyes.

The ritual had succeeded and he had had advanced to the rank of a demigod. The first true step towards the divine.

With his awakening the flower containing him turned into brilliant white sparks vanishing into the unknown or Maybe in the land of gods itself.

The warrior landed on the ground with a light thud. Marveling at his own new found power. His whole being had changed. Not just his body, even his soul had advanced to a new level.

When he regained his sense of self Ren found himself kneeling on the ground, his hands clasped together.

He got up on his feet and the first thing he saw wasn't the flower of divinity but a man. The flower was gone and in its place stood the man that had defeated the terrifying demon.

But there was something different about him. His fiery red hair was the same, his red eyes were the same, his rippling muscles were also same but something was undeniably different about him and Ren had some idea what it was.

He was now a demigod ranked awakened so of course he would be different.

The warrior's presence felt both human and divine. His whole body radiated pure unrestrained power. His aura wasn't terrifying like that of the demon but was just as potent.

There were more changes but Ren's normal human senses failed to notice any of that.

The warrior got a little uncomfortable being stared by the white haired boy so he cleared his throat

"ahem,ahem"

. Ren Immediately stopped staring and was just about to say something when the woman next to him beat him to it.

"v-vice leader, I am glad you are alright." she managed with expression of pure relief and joy.

The man called vice leader turned his gaze towards the woman and immediately a pleasant smile appeared on his face.

"Milia! What are you doing here?" he asked while trying to be strict but failing miserably.

It was clear that he had a soft spot for that woman. The woman named Milia was also teeming with joy – so much joy that her steps were barely on ground.

then suddenly her expression changed that that of concern. " Did the demigod ritual succeed?" she asked.

Meanwhile the vice leader's smile grew even wider, his chest puffed with unrestrained pride as he replied.

"Yes it did. I am a demigod now. Impressed?" he teased.

Milia scanned him thoroughly as she became happy again, her smile becoming even more brighter than before.

"thank goodness" she said as she leaned closer to him.

They were just seconds away from hugging each other when Ren decided decided to be a villain in their love story by reminding them that he also exits.

"cough- cough" he coughed.

And the effect was instaneous they immediately backed away and glared him with a hmmph.

The woman named Milia only blushed but that shrewd man got clearly annoyed as if Ren had committed a grave sin by existing.

"What do you want?!" He barked at Ren.

But then he remembered something as his eyes grew slightly wider and his annoyance vanished.

"were you the one that healed me back then?" He asked.

This time, it was Ren's turn to puff his chest with pride as he replied with with a smug expression.

"Let me introduce myself properly" He said

"My name is Ren and I am one of the followers of the God of miracles."

"…..what!? Who!?" they both barked in unison clearly confused.

Meanwhile Ren's smile turned into a grin and his eyes became mischievous.

" You don't know!? Oh, don't worry for yours truly is here. I will explain everything thoroughly and clearly"

Well, you see in the ancient times blah blah blah blah blah, and then there was too much chaos and blah blah blah blah. In that battle blah blah blah, so Lord Vasudev had no choice to go to a very very very long sleep, and then blah blah blah.

After more than thousands of years Lord Vasudev finally woke but his followers were long gone. He had been forgotten so he had to gather new followers and I am one of the followers Lord Vasudev personally gathered and blah blah blah blah blah.

And today When you were terribly injured and in the verge of death, Lord Vasudev gave me the mission and power to save you, which I did.

And the reason I sought you out is also related to this, you see, when I applied for a rank up quest, my quest was to gather hundred more followers for Lord Vasudev, for which I came to this city, but the deadline is already near so I have no choice but to ask you for help. And since I have helped you, you will repay me, won't you?

Ren blinked innocently while trying to make puppy dog eyes.

Meanwhile, the man and woman in front of him looked more confused than ever.

After what felt like an eternity, the vice leader finally sighed.

"Okay, I will help you gather followers," he said, albeit a little reluctantly.

"I knew you wouldn't agree right away, so I have prepared a deal… wait what?! You agree!?"

Now it was Ren's turn to get confused. Never in his wildest dreams had Ren thought they would agree this easily. If he knew they would agree so easily, he wouldn't have prepared so thoroughly to make a deal with him. Well, oh well.

The vice leader narrowed his eyes slightly as he replied, slightly confused.

"You saved my life today… and who knows how many people would have died if that demon escaped from here. So, it is only right for me to repay you. And my instincts are also telling me to help you. And a demigod's instinct shouldn't be taken lightly.

After that, Ren told them how they can help in a very detailed way.

An hour later.

Poria city, as always, was bustling with activities. The staff of the city welfare club were very busy finding and solving every problem the citizens had or might have.

Suddenly, all the citizens heard a loud voice reverberating throughout the city.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, please accept my apologies for disturbing you. I have something very important to tell you, so if you are not terribly busy, then all the people above the age of 50, please gather in the city hall."

As soon as they heard it, the citizen started talking amongst themselves.

"That voice, that was vice leader wasn't it?"

"Yeah, and it sounded very important."

"I wonder why only people above the age of 50 were called?"

" Is it just me or vice leader's voice really did sound a little different today?"

Vice leader Silar was the second strongest person in the city, so all the citizens respected him. They knew of his strength and capabilities, and if he said it's important then it must be really important.

Soon all the men and women above 50 were sent to the city hall.

The city hall was located near the center of the Poria city. It was one of the tallest and biggest buildings in the whole city, standing at the height of more than 70 meters.

But the real magic was inside the city hall building.

Space magic was used to expand one of the rooms in the city hall, making that room shockingly vast. That's where the citizens Were gathered right now.

The room was big enough to fit at least a thousand people, with rows of comfortable chairs numbering over a thousand.

The room itself was simple, but comfortable, all the chairs were facing towards the stage at the center of the room.

And on that very stage, three people were standing. The citizens recognized two of them but they didn't know who the third one was. But they were going to know soon as the vice leader stepped up to speak.

He mentally counted the people present, and after finding out that there were around five hundred of them, he began speaking.

"Let me get straight to the point: this white-haired fellow here is a follower of a god and he has received a quest from the system to gather followers for his Lord. And I wish to help him on his quest.

So, let me ask you this, will you be the followers of his Lord and help him on his quest?"

As the gathered people were on the older side, they had knowledge and experience that only comes with age. They soon began discussing among themselves.

"Did you hear it, the system's quest?!"

"Yeah, if the system itself gave the quest then what choice do we have?"

"But it's not like all of us have to be a follower."

"Can't you see it, it's a chance, a chance to be a part of something great."

"But can we trust that boy, he looks younger than my grandson?"

"That's only because you are hundred years old, just die already."

"Why should I die? I am too young to die."

" Being a god's follower sounds really great"

" Wait! Doesn't that mean gods really do exist?"

While the city people were busy discussing among themselves, the white-haired boy suddenly stepped a few steps forward and spoke.
