Chapter 2. The Test

Grant family took Lucas to their home and Lucas was given a room. He was inside his room laying on his bed and then he summoned Varulf and told it to go and spy on his family. Varulf has the stealth ability through which it can go invisible and spy on anyone but Varulf's magic power should be greater than the one it is spying on.

Varulf came down in stealth mode and heard the father and mother talking about their son's return. Both of them were very happy and they even called their relatives. They were thinking of the announcement of their son's return and to have a party. Everything was normal. Arthur was still confused. Lucas mother send a maid to Lucas room. She was three years older than Lucas.

She knocked on the door and said, " Lord Lucas, your mother has instructed me to help you in bath. ".

Lucas let her come inside and didn't mind her washing him because he was only twelve but before the bath, she cut his hair as they were way too big. Lucas hair was black in color and his eyes too. He has a fair skin color. After that she washed him and gave him his clothes. He was wearing black shirt, black pant and belt and black socks and shoes. Lucas came down in the hall to his parents and greeted his younger brother. His younger brother was still afraid of him and her mother said, "It's okay Arthur, he is your big brother. ".

Arthur asked, " Big brother? ".

" Yes, your big brother. You must get along with him. ".

His father was just going to tell him about the party but before that Lucas said, " Father, I want to get my Arbiter License and a rank and I also want to join a guild. ".

His father said, " Oh, my child you just came back. You can do this stuff later, can't you? ".

" No. I can't, I am fond of battles. ".

Ademar had no choice but to accept his request. He personally took him with himself to the Arbiter Organization and when they reached their, every staff and Arbiter greeted Ademar with respect as he was the chairman and then introduced Lucas to everyone. Everyone was surprised to see him alive and congratulated Ademar and after that, Ademar asked the receptionist to measure Lucas' magic power and give him a rank.

There was an AA rank Arbiter who wanted to get his magic power re-examine but now he had to wait more because of Lucas. Before Lucas could enter the room to get his magic power examine, the Arbiter stopped him and said, "Kid, it was my turn first. Back off. I don't care even if you are the chairman's son, we all were in the line and it was our turn not yours. ".

Ademar got angry and said, " Mr. Ken, if you doesn't let my son enter the room, I don't think so it would be possible for you to be an Arbiter anymore. ".

Ken said, " Mr. Chairman, I understand he is your long lost son but it's not fair to treat him like this. If you really want to give him privileges then I want to have a duel with your son. If your son successfully defeats me, he can go further. I won't mind. Nobody will mind. ".

Ademar hesitated but Lucas, he accepted his challenge. Ademar tried to stop him but Lucas said, " Father, trust your son. I won't disappoint you. ".

Ademar gave a sigh and said, " Don't let your guard down, son. ".

They all moved to the underground training room and many Arbiters came as spectators.

Ademar became the referee and the battle started.

Lucas summoned Bogeyman and Varulf. Ken thought, " Oh, so he is a summoner. Well, that's too bad for him. ".

Ken was an assassin type Arbiter and had advantage over Lucas according to him. Varulf charged on Ken but Ken used his speed and disappeared and targeted Lucas but before his attack could touch Lucas, Lucas disappeared right infront from him eyes.

Lucas was a summoner type but he could also control time. He could stop time for one second for anyone and could exclude anyone from time stopping effects.

He stopped time for everyone except Bogeyman, Varulf and himself and Bogeyman took Lucas and got away from the range of Ken's attack.

When the time resumed, everyone was confused. Even Ademar who was SS rank didn't able to see Lucas' movement. Suddenly, Varulf came infront of Ken and striked him with his claw which he barely dodged and from his behind, Bogeyman striked Ken using his wooden club. Bogeyman was able to come behind him because Lucas again stopped time.

Lucas can stop time in every 2 seconds. Ken didn't thought that Lucas would be able to put up such a good fight. Ken use two knifes as his weapons which he got as a reward after clearing a monster town. Ken charged at Lucas with his speed but infront of him came Varulf and launched a barrage of attacks of his claws. Ken blocked every attack of Varulf using his pair of knife and suddenly again Bogeyman tried a surprise attack but this time Ken dodged it too and now was infront of Lucas and Lucas again stopped the time and when time resumed, Lucas was not there and Ken felt a great pain on his back.

When Lucas stopped time, Bogeyman carried Lucas away from Ken's range and Varulf damaged Ken's back using his right claw.

Ken charged at Varulf this time and Varulf and Ken got into a fierce battle. A single mistake could cost them their life. Nobody their except Ademar, Lucas and Bogeyman was able to track their movement. Lucas asked something to Bogeyman, "Bogeyman, give it to me. ".

Bogeyman always carried a big bag with him, he took something out from it and gave it to Lucas. It was a weapon, a pair of katana. Lucas stopped time and jumped on Ken, the time resumed and Varulf was not their anymore. Ken saw a figure above him and when he looked above, he saw Lucas there. Ken used his knifes to block Lucas attack but Lucas threw the katana he was holding in his right hand on Ken and Ken had to use both of his knifes to block it and then using the katana in his left hand, he striked the katana he threw at Ken.

Ken and Lucas was in mid air and then they both came on the ground. Ken was too fixated on the katana which he was blocking using his knifes that he forgot about Varulf, Bogeyman and Lucas. When he realised, it was already too late. Lucas had already put his other katana on Ken's neck and Ken was also surrounded by Varulf and Bogeyman.

Ken had no choice but to surrender. Ademar was surprised to see his son stronger than a normal AA rank Arbiter.

Ken was also shocked because he never thought that he will lose to a twelve year old boy. Ken was thirty-one years old and he had wife and a three year old daughter. Ken shake hands with Lucas and said, "Kid, you were better than my expectations. I am sure you will achieve great things in your life as an Arbiter. Well, now you can go and get your rank. ".

Lucas said, " Thank you very much mr. Ken but you and the rest were here before me, so I think you all should get your re-examine first. ".

Ken was surprised to hear it from a twelve your old kid. But everyone let Lucas get examined first and after the examination Lucas was given a rank, similar to Ken, AA rank. Even though he had the same rank as that of Ken but his power was greater than Ken. His ace, time control power was still a secret and he had no intention of telling anyone about his power, even his parents.

Ademar asked, "Now, what do you wanna do Lucas? ".

Lucas said, " I want to join a guild. Not too big and not too small and also not famous. ".

Ademar was shocked and asked, " Why don't you want to join a famous guild?"

He continued, "I can get you into any guild you want, son. ".

Lucas said, " No father, I want to make the guild I'll join famous by myself. ".

Ademar gave a smile and gave him the list of newly formed guilds. Lucas asked for one day time from his father and his father gave him. They both came back to home. His mother asked him about his rank and Ademar told his mother that he got AA rank and she was happy, very happy. Ademar also told about his victory of Ken and she was surprised to hear that and said to Arthur, "Your big brother is so strong, right? ".

Arthur gave a smile. Lucas went to his room and read the list. In the list, there were so many guilds but none was interesting enough to make Lucas join them. The day passed and the next morning arrived. The maid came to his room and knocked, " Lord Lucas, your mother is calling you down for breakfast. ".

Lucas said, " Tell her I will be there in a minute. ".

After few minutes, Lucas came down. His mother said, " You are looking very amazing in those outfits. ".

Lucas never loved fancy clothes, he liked formal better. He was wearing a white shirt, black pant, black socks and black shoes. His hair length was more than medium but was not long enough to be called long. He had a middle part hair style and was also wearing a black watch on his right hand.

Lucas sat on the dining chair and his mother asked, "Don't your companions feel hungry too? ".

Lucas said, " Oh, you don't have to worry about them mother. They feed on the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in air. ".

His father asked, " Where did you learn these terms Lucas? ".

He said, " Bogeyman taught me all this. ".

Ademar asked, " Where did you meet your companions and how did you survived in that monster palace and how did you even got lost, Lucas? ".

Lucas said, " I'll answer all these questions after breakfast. ".

They had a peaceful breakfast and after breakfast, the whole family sat in the living room and the young maid appointed for Lucas, Ademar's bodyguard and some more maids were also present in the room.

Lucas started explaining, " When I went to the monster palace with you father, I didn't got lost. I was simply left to die. ".

Ademar and Lucy were shocked to hear it and questioned in angry expression, " Who left you there Lucas!? ", " Tell us and we will get that person executed immediately. ".

Lucas said, " I am sorry but I don't remember that person father and mother. Well, after I was left there, I started searching for all of you but didn't find anyone but only an injured kid wolf. That wolf and I was in same situation, we both lost our parents and then I started taking care of it. Few days passed and I started hearing noises. All the monsters respawned and then one monster found us and that was Bogeyman. Bogeyman didn't kill me and the wolf for some reason. The monster palace was kingless and needed a king and if it didn't recieve a king back then it would have cease to exist and I would not have made it back. But as you all annihilated all the monsters there because of which the newly spawned monsters were not given the rights for the succession and a human was required to become the king and Bogeyman chose me as the new king of the monster palace and taught me lots of things and I also learned the technique of spirit necromancy. ".

Ademar asked, " Spirit Necromancy? ".

Lucas said, " Yes father, spirit necromancy. It is a technique through which I can make any being my companion but it has a requirement. I should either be equal or stronger than that particular creature and the will of that being must be broken by me. If the being is stronger than me then I must defeat it and after that I can make it my companion. ".

Ademar said, " Oh, I see. ".

Ademar, Lucy and all the maids present in the room were very shocked. There was also a butler. That butler also went with them in the monster palace when Lucas got lost.

His father asked, " Son, by the way, which guild you gonna join? ".

Lucas said, " None. I wanna create my own, father. ".
