Chapter 29: The Perfect Aerodactyl

Chapter 29: The Perfect Aerodactyl

Although Ron had caught many Pokémon and registered their data in his Pokédex, he still hadn't found an Aerodactyl. There was no way to obtain one anywhere else—it could only be found here.

So, Ron had Lillie recall her Pokémon, and he did the same, leaving only Mewtwo out. He then had Mewtwo carefully scan the area using its psychic abilities to locate an Aerodactyl.

Slowing their pace, the two began searching for any trace of Aerodactyl.

After nearly half an hour, there was still no sign of it—only many sleeping fossil Pokémon. Unfortunately, none of them were perfect-tier, or Ron would have captured them without hesitation.

After another short walk, Mewtwo suddenly stopped and communicated telepathically:

"Father, there's a Pokémon on the other side of that rock wall. Do you want me to break it?"

Ron hesitated, glancing at Lillie and the sleeping fossil Pokémon.

"Lillie, let Clefairy use Sing to put them all to sleep first. Then, we'll break the rock wall and check out this Aerodactyl," Ron instructed.

Lillie nodded, releasing Clefairy, which immediately began singing a soothing melody.

Ron quickly handed out three pairs of earplugs—one for Lillie, one for Mewtwo, and one for himself.

Once Clefairy finished singing, Ron approached one of the Omastar and gave it a little shake—it didn't react at all. He nodded in satisfaction.

"Mewtwo, Aura Sphere—break the rock wall!"

Mewtwo charged up an Aura Sphere and blasted the wall, creating a massive hole.

Suddenly—a swarm of fossil Pokémon surged forward, and a piercing screech echoed through the cavern.

From the shadows, a massive figure spread its wings and lunged at them.

The approaching fossil Pokémon froze in their tracks, seemingly intimidated.

Ron's eyes sharpened as he took in the sight of the charging Aerodactyl.

"Mewtwo, use Protect!"

---

Pokémon Identified: Aerodactyl

Rarity: Perfect-tier

Estimated Level: At least 90

Ron's heart tightened. "This is going to be tough."

Mewtwo's Protect blocked Aerodactyl's Giga Impact, absorbing the full brunt of the attack. Without waiting for a command, Mewtwo retaliated with Ice Beam, hitting Aerodactyl mid-air.

Before Aerodactyl could recover, Mewtwo used Future Sight, sending an unseen attack into the void.

With a furious screech, Aerodactyl unleashed Rock Slide, hurling countless boulders at Mewtwo.

Ron immediately channeled his Bonded Power into Mewtwo, strengthening their connection. He had tested this ability before—when enveloping a Pokémon, Bonded Power could enhance defense, coordination, and mutual understanding.

"Teleport behind it, then Water Pulse to wake up its brain!" Ron ordered.

Mewtwo vanished in a flash, reappearing right on Aerodactyl's back.

It formed a pulsating water sphere and smashed it into Aerodactyl's skull—dealing heavy damage and confusing it.

The dazed Aerodactyl began flying erratically, colliding with the rocky walls of the cavern.

But the reckless movements also caused damage to Mewtwo.

---

"Get out of there, use Recover, then another Ice Beam!" Ron called out.

Mewtwo teleported to a safe distance, quickly healing itself with Recover. Then, another Ice Beam blasted Aerodactyl's wings, weakening its flight.

Mewtwo had learned to target its wings specifically—while Ice Beam was effective anywhere, attacking the wings disrupted its ability to stay airborne.

---

"Toxic."

Ron was determined to wear Aerodactyl down—its movements were sluggish after centuries of slumber, and its attacks were stiff. This was his best chance.

"Thunder Wave."

Ron smirked—he had learned this strategy from Koga. Poison plus paralysis was an infuriating combination.

But just as Mewtwo was about to unleash Thunder Wave, Aerodactyl smashed into it with a powerful Take Down, sending Mewtwo flying—leaving it hanging on with only a sliver of HP.

---

"Recover!"

Ron's heart pounded—the level gap was too extreme. If that hit had landed cleanly, Mewtwo would've been out cold.

Luckily, Aerodactyl was still confused and paralyzed, unable to land another attack.

The Toxic damage continued to eat away at its health, leaving it writhing in pain.

"Ice Beam."

The quadruple-effective Ice Beam hit squarely, making Aerodactyl shudder uncontrollably.

With a final, desperate Super Sonic, Aerodactyl unleashed a disorienting soundwave.

"Safeguard."

Ron wasn't about to let it regain control—Safeguard blocked the status effect entirely.

Then, with a final roar, Aerodactyl used Hyper Beam.

Mewtwo teleported out of the way at the last second, dodging the devastating blast.

---

"Hail, then Ice Beam!"

Aerodactyl, now paralyzed, poisoned, and weakened by the Hailstorm, was struggling to stay airborne.

One last Ice Beam froze its wings solid.

Ron grinned. "Keep hitting it!"

Aerodactyl tried one last-ditch Hyper Beam, but Mewtwo easily dodged and countered with one final Ice Beam.

The combined assault of poison, hail, and repeated Ice Beams finally brought Aerodactyl crashing down.

Ron immediately tossed an Ultra Ball.

With a final click, the Ultra Ball sealed the Perfect-tier Aerodactyl.

---

Ron glanced at the other fossil Pokémon, now glaring at him.

"Mewtwo, teleport us out of here!"

Without hesitation, Mewtwo grabbed them both and teleported to the cavern entrance, then back to the surface.

Mewtwo then sealed the massive hole, ensuring the fossil Pokémon couldn't follow.

---

New Pokémon Acquired: Aerodactyl

Level: 90+

Gender: Male

Height: 2.3m

Weight: 72.3kg

Ability: Rock Head

Moves: Roost (Egg Move), Iron Head, Ice Fang, Fire Fang, Thunder Fang... (Too many to list, so I won't pad the word count)

Ron nodded in satisfaction.

Like his Charizard, this Aerodactyl was larger than normal, and already at a high level. It also knew almost every natural move possible.

Unfortunately, being a wild Pokémon, it wasn't yet battle-trained, relying on instinct rather than strategy. If it had battle experience, Mewtwo would've had no chance.

---

Ron sent Nidoking back to Oak's Lab and kept Aerodactyl with him.

He released it from the Ultra Ball—Aerodactyl glared at Ron but didn't attack, seemingly acknowledging him as its Trainer.

Ron immediately treated its wounds, while Lillie curiously patted its body.

"Hello, Aerodactyl! I'm Lillie. Let's get along, okay?"

Aerodactyl turned its head haughtily, but Ron simply smacked its head lightly.

"Don't be stubborn. I'm Ron, your Trainer. Lillie is my travel partner—be nice to her."

Aerodactyl let out a reluctant cry—acknowledging them both.

Ron shook his sore hand.

"Damn, this 'Rock Head' ability isn't just for show… that skull is rock solid!"
