Chapter 52: Journey to Alola, Battle with Olivia

Chapter 52: Journey to Alola, Battle with Olivia

After spending two days in Pallet Town, Ron and his group boarded a private jet to Alola's Aether Paradise.

Lusamine personally acted as their tour guide, showing them around the facility.

Aether Paradise was massive, occupying an entire island as the headquarters of the Aether Foundation. It was a testament to Lillie's family's wealth.

---

Winter in Alola

Since it was already late autumn, Ron decided to spend the entire winter in Alola.

By next spring, he would return to challenge the Silver Conference with Ash.

This meant he had plenty of time to train Charizard and prepare to challenge Tapu Lele.

---

Lusamine's Gift: Beast Balls

During his stay at Aether Paradise, Ron asked Lusamine for a few Beast Balls.

Sure, he could buy them from the system, but why waste points when he could get them for free?

After all, Ultra Beasts occasionally appeared in Alola.

Even if Ron wasn't interested in keeping them, he could gift them to Lusamine for research.

Lusamine trusted Ron's strength, so she gave him thirty fully developed Beast Balls.

(Beast Balls were specifically designed for Ultra Beasts. Using them on normal Pokémon had an even lower success rate than regular Poké Balls.)

---

Back to Pokémon School

After saying farewell to Lusamine and Gladion, Ron and the group returned to Pokémon School, guided by Principal Oak and Professor Kukui.

Since Lillie had taken time off to travel, she now had to catch up on her studies.

Not that she minded—Lillie was a natural academic, a top-tier student who had no problem with coursework.

---

However, she still had a year left before graduating.

That meant she couldn't join Ron's journey to Johto.

Ron understood.

After staying at Kukui's house for a few days, he captured a batch of Pokémon for Professor Oak and set sail for Akala Island.

---

Journey to Akala Island

For this Alolan adventure, Ron left most of his main team at the ranch.

His current lineup included:

Charizard

Dragonair

Gyarados

Larvitar

Mewtwo, for some reason, decided to stay behind.

Ron didn't pry, simply telling Mewtwo to call him if there was trouble.

Mewtwo nodded, acknowledging his words.

---

Arrival in Konikoni City

Instead of stopping at Heahea City, the ferry went straight to Konikoni City.

Standing on deck, Ron could see the Akala Lighthouse in the distance—one of Konikoni City's most famous landmarks.

---

Konikoni and Heahea were only separated by a sea channel.

They were connected by the Diglett Tunnel, making travel between them very convenient.

---

Finding Olivia

Ron's first objective in Alola was to meet Olivia, the Island Kahuna of Akala.

Since he intended to challenge Tapu Lele, he needed to inform Olivia first.

Otherwise, she might hunt him down for stealing a guardian deity.

(Or worse— the other three Tapus might come after him too!)**

Unlike Legendary Pokémon like the Kanto Bird Trio or Celebi, the Tapus weren't a species—they were unique guardians of their respective islands.

---

Olivia's Warning

"No way! Absolutely not!" Olivia shouted.

"How could you even think about catching Tapu Lele?!"

"Even if you're strong enough, do you really think the other Tapus would LET you take it?"

---

Ron sighed, rubbing his ears.

"Fine, fine. I won't catch it. But at least let me battle it?"

---

When Ron arrived in Konikoni City, he asked the locals for directions to Olivia's jewelry shop.

Thanks to their enthusiastic guidance, he quickly found her.

---

Olivia was thrilled to see him—especially after hearing that he had won the Kanto League.

However, the moment he mentioned wanting to catch Tapu Lele, her expression darkened.

She poked his forehead, giving him a stern lecture.

---

A Battle for Permission

"Are you serious?" Olivia narrowed her eyes.

She didn't fully believe him yet.

---

Ron sighed dramatically.

"More serious than a pearl in an oyster."

---

(Even if he couldn't catch Tapu Lele, he at least wanted to defeat it—

Teach it a lesson for bullying weaker Pokémon.)**

---

Olivia crossed her arms.

"Fine. Battle me first."

"If you win, I'll take you to the Ruins of Life and give you Rockium Z."

"If you lose, you reflect on your reckless thinking."

---

"Deal. Where do we fight?" Ron asked.

He wasn't going to turn down a free Z-Crystal.

---

Battle at the Ruins of Life

Olivia led Ron through a dense jungle, stopping at the entrance to the Ruins of Life.

However, she didn't take him inside.

---

"This place is sacred," Olivia explained.

"Only those chosen by the guardian deities can enter."

"Unless you plan to live in Alola permanently, you won't be allowed inside."

---

Ron shrugged.

"Doesn't matter. I just need to fight Tapu Lele."

He released Charizard, ready for battle.

---

Olivia glanced at Charizard and nodded.

"Not bad. You really did raise it well. But don't underestimate me just because I'm an Island Kahuna!"

She threw her Poké Ball.

"Go, Probopass!"

---

Charizard X vs. Probopass

"Probopass, Thunder Wave!"

"Let's end this. Mega Evolve—Charizard X! Fire Claw!"

---

The moment Olivia sent out Probopass, Ron activated Mega Evolution.

With a flash of energy, Charizard transformed into Mega Charizard X.

Its black scales gleamed, blue flames swirling around its claws.

---

"Is this Charizard's ultimate form?" Olivia mused.

"Looks strong."

---

"Probopass, Discharge!"

Olivia wasn't intimidated, commanding an Electric-type attack.

---

Modified Fire Claw

Mega Charizard X's ability had changed to Tough Claws, boosting physical attacks.

Its Fire Punch had been modified into Fire Claw—

Same power, but in claw form for continuous strikes.

---

With blinding speed, Mega Charizard X closed the distance, delivering a devastating Fire Claw attack.

Probopass was slammed into the ground, heavily damaged but still standing.

---

"Sturdy ability, huh?" Ron remarked.

"Doesn't matter—Fire Claw is a combo move!"

---

The second strike landed.

Probopass collapsed, unable to continue.

---

Victory & Rockium Z

Olivia recalled Probopass, sighing in defeat.

"You're strong… no wonder you're a Champion."

Ron smirked.

"I try."

---

As promised, Olivia gave him Rockium Z.

Next stop—his battle with Tapu Lele.

---

(Modified Move: Claw Barrage)

Inspired by King of Fighters-style rapid slashes, this technique allows a flurry of claw strikes, overwhelming the opponent.
