Chapter 79 Psychic Town, Xatu's Fortune-Telling

Chapter 79 Psychic Town, Xatu's Fortune-Telling

"Mienfoo, use Force Palm!" Ron shouted.

"Nana, use Tackle!" Ruby commanded.

"Serperior, use Vine Whip to restrain them!" Rosa called out.

Ron and the others had arrived at the Ursaring Forest. Originally, there wouldn't have been any problems if they were careful, but Rosa couldn't resist catching a Teddiursa.

It was currently spring, the season when Ursaring raised their offspring. Female Ursaring were already sensitive and easily agitated, so Rosa's action had stirred up a hornet's nest. A large group of Ursaring immediately surrounded Ron and the others, launching an attack.

"Sorry," Rosa apologized awkwardly after resolving the incident.

"It's fine. We needed more Pokémon for the breeding house anyway. Ruby, do you want any Ursaring or Teddiursa?" Ron asked.

Ruby, still a novice, wasn't fully accustomed to such intense battles and quickly waved his hand. "No thanks. I prefer elegant and powerful Pokémon. Ursaring are a bit too much for me."

Ron slapped Ruby's shoulder forcefully and said, "Kid, you're still lacking in training. Want to exercise with me daily?"

"Forget it! Who wants to train with a freak like you?" Ruby snapped back in annoyance.

He had seen Ron's training before—Ron currently had over a hundred points in both strength and physique. His usual push-ups involved Cosmoem pressing down on him. Of course, he didn't directly have Cosmoem release its psychic levitation; instead, Cosmoem gradually decreased its psychic power, slowly increasing its weight to achieve the perfect resistance.

Ruby and Rosa didn't know this at first. When Ron initially tricked them into training by having Cosmoem remove its levitation immediately, their expressions afterward had changed to those looking at a monster.

After catching the defeated Ursaring and Teddiursa, the trio resumed their journey.

Two days later, Ron and the others arrived at a place called Psychic Town. Ruby said excitedly, "Let me tell you, there are many Psychic-type Pokémon here; almost every household owns one. I also know a secret—an elderly man here has trained a very strong Xatu and opened a fortune-telling shop, which is incredibly accurate."

After speaking, Ruby led Ron and Rosa through several twists and turns until they reached a small, run-down wooden hut. Ruby stepped forward, knocked on the door, and called out, "Grandpa Wilton, are you there? It's me, Ruby."

"Come in, the door isn't locked. I already foresaw you'd come today," an elderly voice replied from inside.

Ron curled his lips slightly. The old man certainly seemed mysterious, but whether he truly had skills remained to be seen.

Ruby pushed open the door and walked inside, with Ron and Rosa following behind. Inside the hut was nothing unusual, just an ordinary small wooden house. An elderly man was feeding an equally aged Xatu—this must be Grandpa Wilton, whom Ruby had mentioned.

"Grandpa Wilton, I'm here again," Ruby said sheepishly. "Can you give me another fortune reading?"

"No need. I can't tell you anything more. That entity has already told you everything necessary; the rest depends on your choices," Grandpa Wilton calmly said. "Young man over there, come here. Let me take a look for you."

"I'll be counting on you, Master," Ron said with a serious expression.

He had a simple reason: that aged Xatu was a level-100, top-grade Pokémon. Moreover, Ron clearly sensed a familiar force of time emanating from it—the original power of Celebi. If this Xatu didn't have genuine abilities to foresee the future, Ron wouldn't believe it for a second.

"Old friend, please help him. Use Future Sight," Grandpa Wilton said.

The Xatu nodded slightly, its eyes glowing with a faint blue light as it began contemplating. After a while, Grandpa Wilton fell silent, then spoke slowly, "Another chosen one bound by destiny. Young man, remain true to your heart, and you will achieve the success you seek. You've already formed connections with too many beings; don't pursue too much. Just let things flow naturally."

"If I take that step forward, how long would it take?" Ron asked.

"Three years should suffice," Grandpa Wilton answered.

"Alright. Thank you," Ron said respectfully.

"One more piece of advice: every existence has two sides. 'A fierce tiger within, yet smelling the roses.' Human nature has its duality, and the opposites can be balanced within," Grandpa Wilton said cryptically.

"Understood. One more question...about my love life?" Ron asked, blushing slightly.

Grandpa Wilton chuckled and said, "What is meant to be yours will eventually come to you. You can't miss it."

"Grandpa Wilton, can you do mine too?" Rosa couldn't hold back any longer and immediately stepped forward to ask.

"Hmm. Let me see," Grandpa Wilton smiled kindly, then asked Xatu to use Future Sight again.

After a brief moment, Grandpa Wilton said slowly, "Alas, troubled times are coming. The battle of legendary Pokémon is drawing near. Other chosen ones will soon appear, destined to prevent the catastrophe."

"What does that mean?" Rosa asked, confused.

Ron, however, felt uneasy. He knew from the anime that Ash traveled region by region to solve disasters. But now, the timeline had changed; it was possible that the villainous groups from each region would act simultaneously. If the Pokémon League failed to handle this properly, things might spiral out of control.

"I cannot reveal too much. After all, the future can change. If someone deliberately alters it, the future will shift accordingly," Grandpa Wilton explained.

Although he seemed to be speaking to Rosa, Ron knew the elderly man was actually reminding him. After all, he definitely recognized the Celebi sitting on Ron's shoulder.

"What about my love life?" Rosa asked urgently.

"Childhood friends; destined since youth," Grandpa Wilton replied. "Alright, get going now, children. Don't waste too much time on this old man."

Ron and the others respectfully bowed to Grandpa Wilton. After all, he was their senior and clearly a strong one deserving respect.

After leaving Psychic Town, Ruby asked curiously, "By the way, both of you asked about your love lives—who were they about?"

"Adult matters; kids shouldn't meddle," Ron said, momentarily forgetting he himself was only fourteen years old.

"Hehe, as if you didn't ask earlier. Come on, tell big sister—who's your sweetheart?" Rosa instantly darkened, looking like she might pull out a whip at any moment.

Ruby shivered, quickly looking toward Ron for help.

"Speaking of which, Ruby, your battle skills are quite good. So why did you become a Pokémon Coordinator? Isn't that usually a girl's path? Could it be…?" Ron smirked mischievously.

"Bro, you're my real brother!" Ruby immediately rushed to cover Ron's mouth, begging, "Could you show some mercy?"

"Oh~ So that's the case," Rosa drawled slowly. "Looks like someone has a childhood sweetheart."

"Aren't you the same?!" Ruby shouted back, embarrassed and angry.

"Oh-ho-ho! Seems you're asking for a beating!" Rosa instantly exploded, chasing after Ruby to give him a good thrashing.

"Hey, slow down, you two!" Ron sighed helplessly and ran after them.

Watching the three children leave, Grandpa Wilton let out a long sigh and whispered, "Good luck, children. The future truly lies in your hands, you chosen ones. I hope the Pokémon League will raise its vigilance, or it may truly become irreparable."
