Chapter 103: Splash Plate, Little Lugia
"This thing?" Bruno picked up the blue stone tablet sealed inside a glass sphere. The glass sphere contained a transparent liquid, allowing the blue stone tablet to float within it.
Bruno couldn't figure out what it was. He kicked Dr. Namba beside him and asked, "Hey, what's this thing for?"
Dr. Namba glanced at it and said irritably, "This is a peculiar stone tablet we found in the nearby waters. It possesses a mysterious power. By using a machine to amplify this power, we can attract some Water-type Pokémon."
Bruno smirked and said, "That's it?"
"That's it. It's not of much use, so after testing it, we sealed it away," Dr. Namba replied.
Bruno nodded and casually tossed it to Ron, saying, "If you like it, take it. It's useless anyway."
Ron caught the glass sphere and put it in his backpack, unable to hide the smile on his face.
They actually think this is useless? Foolish humans. Ron thought to himself and immediately contacted the system, urging it to analyze the stone tablet.
"Ding. Scan complete," the system's voice announced. "After analysis, this tablet is identified as the Splash Plate belonging to Arceus. However, it has been fragmented into 24 pieces. Through the tablet's analysis, the database on legendary Pokémon has been updated. Please review."
Splash Plate (Fragment): When held by a Pokémon, Water-type moves are boosted by 20%. There is an extremely low chance of comprehending primal energy.
Legendary Pokémon Power Classification: 1-100 Levels (Standard Pokémon) Initial Primal Energy Comprehension (Pseudo-Legendary) Primal Energy Mastery (Tier 3 Legendary) Primal Energy Practical Application (Tier 2 Legendary) Self-Powered World Modification (Tier 1 Legendary) Rule Creation and Domain Formation (Mythical God-Tier)
"Ding. Side quest triggered—Find the fragments of Arceus's stone tablets. Based on detection, numerous fragments exist in the world. Please collect them. Identical fragments can be fused to help Pokémon comprehend primal energy. Each fully restored tablet grants one primal energy comprehension attempt, with a 10% chance for a Pokémon to master primal energy."
Ron silently read through the system notifications, learning about the classification of legendary Pokémon for the first time. According to the system's ranking, Mewtwo and Celebi would only qualify as pseudo-legendaries, and even the powerful Mewtwo trained by Team Rocket would only be considered a Tier 3 Legendary.
With this in mind, those ancient legendary Pokémon truly possessed the power to destroy the world.
Without a clear path ahead, it's easy to get lost. Without a proper understanding, Ron had to admit he had been viewing things too narrowly. Only by recognizing true power could he understand his own shortcomings.
Ron made a silent determination—he would ensure his Pokémon stood at the pinnacle of the world!
Bruno looked at Ron in confusion. What's up with this kid? Why does he suddenly seem so much more mature? The previous recklessness and impatience had completely disappeared.
But this was a good thing. At least Ron had overcome a major weakness, Bruno thought. He continued receiving reports from Team Rocket, while the League operatives found the control room and sealed off all lower-level passages to prevent seawater from flooding in again.
Ron was also assigned to handle Team Rocket's Pokémon, which he enjoyed doing.
Upon checking their Pokémon, he confirmed they were indeed just grunts. Most of their Pokémon were mediocre, with only one high-quality specimen. He handed them all over to the League operatives and had nothing else to do. After bidding Bruno farewell, he and his companions left as the League's reinforcements arrived from Silver Rock Island.
Taking a speedboat, Ron, Rosa, and Ruby arrived at Silver Rock Island. Although they had landed, the follow-up operations were still ongoing, and the League wouldn't let them leave just yet.
Ron and the others didn't mind. Since their business was done, they had nothing pressing to do, so they decided to go fishing by the sea.
Ron took out his Super Rod and handed Rosa and Ruby each a Good Rod. The three of them started fishing by the shore.
Rosa was quite interested, as she still lacked a strong Water-type Pokémon. If she could catch a good one, it would be a great addition to her team.
"So, I'm counting on you, Ron," Rosa said.
Ron's face darkened. "Why are you asking me to catch your Pokémon? Can't you fish yourself?"
"Because you're so good at fishing, Ron," Ruby said with a grin.
Ron felt his face heat up. He couldn't exactly tell them he was winning thanks to a cheat. Clearing his throat, he said, "Leave it to me."
He cast his line, and three minutes later, he reeled in a high-quality Corsola. Rosa wasn't interested, so Ron sent out Greninja and captured it, giving Greninja the Splash Plate to test its power.
The Splash Plate could actually be absorbed into a Pokémon's body, saving Ron the trouble of modifying it. With the plate, Greninja's Water Pulse was insanely powerful—one shot instantly knocked out the Corsola.
Even Ruby and Rosa were stunned. Ruby even asked if Ron had taught Greninja some new technique.
Ron denied it, saying maybe Greninja had a sudden breakthrough. He couldn't reveal the truth about the Splash Plate, so he had to tell a small lie.
After catching the Corsola, Ron cast his line again. Two minutes later, he hooked a medium-quality Corsola and captured it.
Again, he cast his line. Three minutes later, another Corsola appeared. He caught it.
Once more, he cast his line—another Corsola. Even Ruby and Rosa started catching Corsola after Corsola.
"Is this place Corsola's home or something?" Rosa asked, watching Ron reel in yet another Corsola.
Ron caught another medium-quality Corsola and said grimly, "Let's move. This place is cursed."
Ruby and Rosa nodded in agreement. They changed locations, moving to a secluded shore. This time, when they cast their lines, they finally didn't catch a Corsola. Instead, Ron reeled in a medium-quality Remoraid and captured it.
After a while, Rosa got lucky and hooked a high-quality Chinchou.
Chinchou resembled a pink eel-like creature with a long snout. Two shell-like structures covered its chest, making it look like a mermaid. It also had a fin with purple tips resembling antennae on its head, along with a smaller similar fin on its tail. It had small eyelashes above its eyes, and two bright stripes on its purple tail fin.
Rosa liked the Chinchou a lot and immediately used her Serperior to defeat and capture it.
Ruby didn't mind too much since he hadn't found a Pokémon he particularly liked. As both a Trainer and a Coordinator, he was picky about appearances. He wanted a Water-type powerhouse like his mentor Wallace's Milotic.
Ron understood Ruby's desire and didn't want to discourage him. His future Water-type ace would be Swampert, and he'd also have a Milotic, though Swampert would be the stronger of the two.
Suddenly, Ron's fishing rod sank heavily. He knew he had hooked something big—possibly a Gyarados.
With both hands, he exerted force and pulled up a silver-white figure from the water.
Seeing the silver-white figure, Ron's face darkened, and he let out a bitter smile: "Lugia!"
