Chapter 4: Confrontation and Escape

When they left the warehouse, Logan and Emma walked toward the north sports field. The scenery around them was becoming increasingly eerie. Creatures wandered among the ruined buildings, the wreckage of burned vehicles, and the corpses lying on the ground, revealing the cruelty of this new world. The sky was still in shades of purple and black, and there was a strange chill in the atmosphere. The wind carried the smell of burning and the echo of screams.

"Be careful," Logan whispered, pulling Emma closer. "We may encounter a surprise at any moment."

Emma nodded and continued to look around. She felt nauseous at the sight before her. She had never seen anything like this before. Everything was like a scene from a horror movie. The eerie images of the creatures, the desperate cries of the people, and the smell of death everywhere deeply affected Emma.

As they approached the north sports field, they heard the sound of a helicopter in the distance. Logan said, "Here they come. We must be quick."

As they ran toward the sports field, a creature suddenly appeared in front of them. It was one of the mutant puppies they had encountered earlier in the tunnels. But this time it had grown bigger and stronger. Its eyes were glowing red, and saliva was dripping from its mouth. The creature's paws were much larger than those of a normal dog, and its sharp teeth seemed designed for tearing flesh.

"Oh my God!" Emma cried, recoiling in fear.

"Get behind me," Logan said. "I'll take care of it."

As the creature lunged at him, Logan used his "Shadow Speed" ability to quickly dodge to the side. Then, using the fire extinguisher, he sprayed the creature's eyes. As the creature howled in pain and retreated, Logan used his "Momentum Control" ability to throw the fire extinguisher at the creature's head. As the creature collapsed to the ground, Logan used his "Shadow Blade" ability to create a sword from the darkness and cut the creature's neck. The creature's severed head fell to the ground, its body twitched for a moment, and then became still.

Emma looked at Logan in astonishment. "You... you're really incredible," she said. "How did you do that?"

"You haven't seen anything yet," Logan replied. "Let's go now."

Together they ran to the north sports field. The helicopter was waiting for them. The helicopter's propellers were spinning, and it was waiting for takeoff.

"Mom! Dad!" Logan shouted, running towards the helicopter.

The helicopter door opened, and Logan's mother and father came out. As soon as his mother saw Logan, she ran to him and hugged him. Her eyes were filled with tears. His father also embraced his son and asked, "Are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"I'm fine," Logan replied. "But we have to go. We're not safe here."

They all got into the helicopter. As the helicopter took off, Logan looked back and left the Princeton campus behind. This new world was going to be a new beginning for him. He never looked back at the world full of chaos and danger he left behind. As the helicopter rose, the shrinking view of the campus symbolized the beginning of a new era in Logan's mind.
