Unspoken Truths

The night stretched on, the storm outside matching the quiet turmoil between them.

Kaelith lay beside Seraphine, his hand resting lightly against her bare back. He traced slow, absentminded patterns along her skin, his mind uncharacteristically still.

Seraphine, nestled against him, was the first to break the silence. "You never let anyone close, do you?"

His fingers stilled for a moment before resuming their path. "No," he admitted. "I learned not to."

Seraphine turned her head, her gaze searching his face. "And yet, here we are."

Kaelith exhaled, a slow, measured breath. "You are different."

Seraphine smiled faintly. "Is that so?"

His thumb brushed against her shoulder. "I do not trust easily, Seraphine. But I trust you."

The weight of his words settled between them, heavier than any battle, any war.

Seraphine reached up, tracing the scar along his forearm. "I will not betray that trust, Kaelith."

He turned, pressing a kiss to her forehead. But deep down, neither of them could ignore the truth—
