Into the Dark

Seraphine stood outside the scout's tent, the weight of his words pressing against her chest. Not men… Shadows.

She had expected spies, mercenaries, perhaps even a rival kingdom's forces. But this?

This was something far worse.

She could go to Kaelith now. Confront him. Demand the truth.

But he had already made it clear—he would keep her at a distance.

So, she would find her own path forward.

Seraphine pulled her cloak tighter around her, her mind racing. If these shadows moved like smoke, if their eyes burned like embers… then they were not of this world.

She needed answers.

And there was only one place to find them.

She turned sharply, heading toward the farthest tent in the camp—the one belonging to the royal scholars. If there was knowledge of such creatures, they would have it.

Kaelith may have shut her out.

But that would not stop her from uncovering the truth.

To be continued…
