Save Me

Arabella POV

I struggled and kicked, but the men's grip was too strong. One of them covered my mouth, silencing my screams. I was dragged backward, my feet scraping against the pavement. Just as I thought all hope was lost, I heard a loud shout. "Hey! Let her go!"

The men paused, and I saw a figure running towards us. It was Dimitri. My professor. My ex-boyfriend's brother. The man I had thought of earlier in the shower. The one who I had consciously avoided throughout. He looked sternly at the men who had me, his fists clenched.

"I said, let her go!" he repeated, his voice firm and authoritative. I would have melted under the sound of his voice except I was being held captive by two unknown men.

The men hesitated at first. They look at each other. Suddenly the man holding me released me but before I could move forward, they held me back. "Why should we listen to you?" One of the men said. "They're two of us and one of you. We could easily beat you up and carry that pretty little girl away." the other man said looking at me in a way that made me feel naked.

They rushed towards Dimitri but suddenly stopped when he rolled his sleeves and took a stance to fight them. Apparently, they didn't know who he was and thought he was some passerby who couldn't mind his business.

"I could beat you guys up now and drag your freaking ass to the station or I could let you go after you promise not to harass females again." "Who does he think he is?" one of the men said. Before the other man could reply, Dimitri responded, "I never said I had finished talking, Or, I could call the Don to settle you men seeing you don't want to do things the easy way."

The Don? No way. There's no way Dimitri is associated with the Don. I've heard of the Don. They are said to be elite club members who are involved in certain things and they have the ability to change the law and break them. They're more like a Mafia club but without the bloodshed, I presume.

"The Don. Oh please, do you think because you have tattoos on your arms, you would be able to fool both of us? You're just a simple man. You know nothing of the Don."

With the last word, one of the masked men rushed at Dimitri with his fisted hands. Dimitri dodged and missed every punch the masked man threw. Seeing that his accomplice was being seconded, the second masked man rushed at Dimitri but this time with a weapon, something sharp.

Immediately I saw it, I yelled. "Dimitri, watch out. He has a knife."

As soon as the words fell from my mouth, Dimitri pushed the accomplice onto his friend causing him to graze his skin with the knife. "Run along now, or I won't be so merciful."

They both groaned as they tried to rise to the ground. They tried to immediately rush to get out of the area in the opposite direction but fell in my direction making me stumble forward a bit as I still had a bruise from my earlier fall. I gasped for breath as I tried not to hit the ground. Dimitri caught me by the elbow, steadying me.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning my face. I nodded, still shaken by my earlier ordeal.

"Y-yes. Thank you." Dimitri's gaze turned to the men, who were now backing away slowly.

"You're not welcome around here," he growled. "Leave now, and don't come back." The men didn't wait for Dimitri to repeat himself the third time, they turned away and ran, disappearing into the darkness. Dimitri turned back to me, his expression softening.

"Let's get you home, safe" he said, offering me his arm. I took it, still feeling a little dazed. As we walked, I couldn't help but steal glances at Dimitri. He had just saved me from those men. I felt a surge of gratitude, and something more...

But I pushed the thought aside. I shouldn't. I couldn't let myself feel that way about my professor. I had told myself that I would not. It was wrong, and it could never work out.

Looking at the way he held me makes me think otherwise. What if I told him how I felt? Could it work out?
