[Chapter 402: Chasing Amy]
Nicole Kidman seemed elegant and refined on the surface, but deep down she was a woman full of wildness, even a bit crazy. She was like the fiercest horse on the prairie, loving to run free and powerful.
Ordinary men found it hard to control her; one wrong move, and they'd be wiped out and left embarrassed. But everything changed when she met Link.
No matter it was status, power, height, or strength, he completely outmatched this woman. With him, Nicole could be graceful and gentle, or go wild and crazy; no matter what she did, she couldn't escape Link's control.
She always got more satisfaction than she expected with him. Every time their date ended, Nicole felt incredibly happy, saying it was worth a thousand times over. Even death would be worth it.
And Link found great relaxation with her.
They were a match in every way, both gaining something from each other.

After sending off the charming blonde beauty, Link wiped the still wet stains on the floor-to-ceiling window that hadn't dried under the sunlight, and continued working.
It was past two in the afternoon when Ben Affleck dropped by with director Kevin Smith, who was 25 years old and had just entered the indie film scene in 1994. Earlier this year, Ben starred in Kevin Smith's new movie Chasing Amy, made on a modest $250,000 budget.
After the shoot, Ben contacted Link asking if the movie could be distributed through Guess Pictures' channels. Link did not refuse but asked them to bring the film over for review.
Recently, Guess Pictures announced their support for independent films and planned to establish an independent film foundation to fulfill this promise. Helping distribute indie films would also demonstrate the company's stance.
The company's investment in distribution depended largely on box office numbers from test screenings. Good numbers meant increased promotion and distribution; poor numbers meant reduced investment or stopping the distribution. Regardless of box office success, the company wouldn't lose much money.
...
"Link, this movie is really cool. I promise you'll like it after watching," said Ben Affleck with a smile.
"Alright, let's check it out in the screening room," Link replied with a smile, calling Daniel DeVito and Mark Amin to arrange for people to watch the film and then decide on its release timing and scale.
"Link, what's this?" Ben Affleck asked, standing up from the sofa and pointing to a dark wet patch on his slate-gray casual pants.
Link cleared his throat, recalling that Nicole Kidman had just been leaning there.
"Coconut milk! It spilled accidentally just now. Okay, the screening room is ready; let's go," Link said, guiding Ben Affleck and the plump Kevin Smith outside, passing Monica Lewinsky's office and instructing her to arrange for cleaning.
...
In the screening room, Link started watching Ben Affleck's new film Chasing Amy. The story was about a man falling in love with a lesbian.
The man, Holden McNeil, was a comic artist full of longing for love. His roommate, Banky Edwards, lived with him in a small LA apartment leading a dull life. But when Alyssa Jones appeared, their peaceful life was disrupted. Holden fell in love at first sight and was utterly drawn to her.
Alyssa gradually fell for this like-minded big boy too. For him, she was willing to put aside her original sexual orientation, bravely facing misunderstandings and rejection from her gay friends, becoming straight.
As their relationship deepened, Banky didn't want to lose his best friend Holden and became a lonely single, starting to drive a wedge between them to sabotage their relationship.
In the end, Holden and Alyssa overcame many difficulties and prejudices to be together, but Holden also lost his friend Banky.
Chasing Amy was essentially a love triangle, but with unique characters. The director used this movie to explore the subtle relationship between love, friendship, and sexual orientation. Themes also involved growth, choices, and self-identity.
The three lead actors performed well, bringing the characters to life vividly and interestingly.
Overall, it was a quality low-budget film, and with Ben Affleck as the leading man, the box office wouldn't be bad.
...
"The movie is good. The company can release it with a B-movie standard," Link said after the screening, discussing with Daniel DeVito and others, then notifying Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith of the company's attitude.
"Thank you! This is fantastic news," Kevin Smith was so excited he gestured animatedly.
Link was the pinnacle of the film industry; for this movie to gain his recognition was more thrilling than winning an Oscar.
"Haha, I told you this movie was cool. See, I wasn't wrong," Ben Affleck grinned.
"You're at the height of your fame; how did you think of making an indie film?" Link asked.
"Because I'm an actor with ambitions. My goal is to win the Oscar for Best Actor," Ben Affleck said, holding his chin high.
"Keep it up! If you maintain this attitude, winning that golden statue won't be hard."
"I will. By the way, Link, is this really coconut milk?" Ben Affleck pointed at the dried stain on his pants, scraping it with his fingernail and sniffing it, saying, "It has a weird smell, kinda fragrant but funky. Smell it!" stretching out his finger.
Link waved his hand, "Maybe it's your own sweat smell."
Before Ben could argue, Link turned to chat with Daniel and Mark Amin, giving them responsibility for the film's distribution.
After the arrangements, Link returned to his office to work.
...
[T/N: Rosamund Kwan called saying Carina Lau and Chingmy Yau came to U.S. Link went to meet with them along with everyone else he was involved such as Vivian Chow, Gong Li, Joey Wang, Yu Feihong, Chen Hong, Rebecca Wang, Maggie Cheung, etc.]
