Chapter 8: The Shadow of the Past
Li Yun stood up, feeling the spiritual energy pulsing through his veins. The morning sun bathed the lush green countryside, revealing an unparalleled beauty. Towering trees, with leaves that shone in shades of emerald and gold, stood majestically, their crowns touching the blue sky.
He took a deep breath, feeling the fresh, pure air, unlike anything he had ever smelled. The scent of damp earth and exotic flowers enveloped him, awakening his senses.
"Where am I?" he murmured, his voice still hoarse.
"You are in the Heaven Realm, young man," a voice replied behind him.
Li Yun turned around, finding the gray-haired cultivator, who now looked younger and had a serene smile on his face.
"How can I thank you for saving me?" Li Yun asked, still astonished.
"No need for thanks, young man," the cultivator replied. "You have been chosen for an important mission."
"A mission?" Li Yun frowned in confusion. "What kind of mission?"
"Fate has brought you here to protect the Heaven Realm from an ancient threat," the cultivator explained, his eyes shining with a bright light. "You are the only one who can stop the Shadows from invading."
"Shadows?" Li Yun shivered. "What are Shadows?"
"They are creatures of pure darkness, evil beings who seek to destroy the order of the world," the cultivator replied, his voice serious. "They feed on the life energy of living beings, spreading chaos and destruction wherever they go."
Li Yun felt a chill run down his spine. The thought of creatures of pure darkness terrified him. But he also felt a sense of responsibility, a need to protect this world that had welcomed him.
"I… I will do my best," Li Yun said, his voice shaking slightly.
"Your inner strength is the key to winning this battle," the cultivator said, placing his hand on Li Yun's shoulder. "You must learn to control your spiritual energy and master the martial arts."
"But how?" Li Yun asked, feeling helpless in the face of the immensity of the task.
"You are not alone, young man," the cultivator replied, a reassuring smile spreading across his face. "I will be your guide, and you will find others who will help you on this journey."
The cultivator then led him down a winding path that wound through the trees until he reached a small village. Wooden houses with thatched roofs and bamboo walls clustered around a central square where a crystal-clear spring of water gushed forth.
"This is Moon Village," the cultivator explained. "Here you will find other young men like you, who have also been chosen to protect the Heaven Realm."
Li Yun took a deep breath, feeling a mixture of hope and apprehension. He had left his old life behind, but now he was facing a new adventure, full of challenges and opportunities. He needed to adapt to this new world, learn to control his spiritual energy and face the Shadows.
And he was ready to begin.
