6 months later.
It's been a while since I reincarnated.
What can I say about my new life so far? Well, I must say that there's not much that a baby can do besides sleep and eat.
But I managed to keep myself entertained, which is to learn the language spoken here, because it's obvious that I'll need it, and I must say that I've made a lot of progress during this time.
Now I could understand most of the things I heard, I could consider myself half fluent, if you were to ask me.
My progress was so fast for two reasons, I believe.
The first is that I had nothing else to do.
The second is that I was always looking for an opportunity to hear someone talking, especially the ant girl, who today I know is called Junah, she is the oldest child in the orphanage, as far as I know, and she helps Aunt Mia take care of the children.
Aunt Mia, from what I've seen so far, is the only adult in this orphanage...
"Hello~"
"Little Kurt, guess who came to play with you again~".
Junah appeared out of nowhere in front of me, again, but this time I wasn't scared, I had already gotten used to her appearance.
Oh, another thing, apparently my name is Kurt, it's not a powerful name that promises great achievements, but at least it's not a bad name.
I'm sure I heard another classmate of mine who has the name Jukmelek or something like that, I feel sorry for him.
Junah picked me up, which made me smile, because that meant she was going to take me outside. And that smile didn't escape her sight.
"Owhnn, you're excited to play right~? Come on, let's go, I'll take you outside to play with the others."
Then she took me outside the house, while I observed the whole place again.
After walking around a bit, I already had some idea of what this orphanage was like.
It had two rooms, one for the babies, which was the room I currently slept in, and the other was for the older children and Aunt Mia.
There was apparently a place that looked like a kitchen and a living room at the same time, but I've never been there yet. All together, it was barely the size of a normal house in my other world.
And there was the courtyard, which was much bigger, and it was also where the children spent most of their time.
I haven't gone very far from home yet, but from the conversations I've heard, this is probably a village, called Tokurabu Village.
Unfortunately, I don't know more than that yet, but I'm in no hurry to find out.
From what I've noticed, Aunt Mia has things under control, we won't go hungry or anything like that, and from the atmosphere I see, we're not in any kind of war, or at least far from one, if there is one...
The orphanage has about 10 children in total, 4 are babies and the rest are between 3 and 11 years old, since apparently the children start working when they're 10 or 11 and leave the orphanage.
From what I know, Junah is already about 12, but she stayed at the orphanage to help Aunt Mia take care of the other children.
Well, anyway, although I have a lot to complain about the place I ended up in, the two of them take great care of me and the others, I don't think I can ask for much more until I'm older and able to do something about it.
"Here, here we are~"
We walked out the door, and arrived at a courtyard full of children playing, and Junah took me to a corner where the other babies were.
There, my two new friends were already, playing with a pile of dirt.
"Hey, look who's here to play with you!"~
They were Bachirou and Gablin, they were the other two babies in the orphanage, that's why we spent more time together, or that's what I like to think, because it was basically Junnah gathering all the babies together so they would be easier to take care of.
As for us being able to play in the dirt at 6 or 7 months old?
Well, what I can say is that the demon race has more vitality than normal. And even their children are stronger and more resilient than the norm.
That's right, the demon race, I found out about it recently while listening to Junah talk to the other children, while she taught them some basic knowledge.
Which confirmed, of course, that I really am not in a human society.
But I was already fine with that, after all, if I managed to get used to Juunah's beautiful ant-like face, I don't think there is anything worse to surprise me...
As she took me off her lap and left me on the floor, I could see the curiosity awakened, as always, in the eyes of my two new comrades.
Bachirou was a little bigger than me, his skin was a faint blue color, and his most striking feature was that he had 4 arms, instead of 2. And well... he was bald.
Gablin... well, he looked like a humanoid chicken chick, that grew more than it should have, but I didn't discriminate against him because of that, except that he made some very annoying bird sounds.
" Ugu aga!."
" kruu kruu!'
" Guh guh dah dah.?"
"Ugu aga!"
" kruu kruu!'
"Guh guh dah dah.?"
That's usually what we talked about, to them it seemed pretty interesting at least.
What I liked most about this place was that I could hear the older kids talk, which was a great boost to my vocabulary, after all, like I said, I had nothing better to do.
"Let's play adventurers!"
"I'll be the leader!"
"No, I came up with the idea, I'll be the leader!"
"I'll be the magician!"
"I'll be the swordsman!"
That's how the kids talked, I had fun entertaining my two new strange friends while listening to the older kids.
In fact, apparently there are adventurers in this world, as well as swordsmen and magicians, judging by the kids' conversations.
Which could suggest that I'm in a medieval fantasy world of swords and magic, which is confirmed because I've heard Aunt Mia say that she's been an adventurer for the kids before.
She said she was a mage or something.
Honestly, when I heard that, I instantly got really excited!
Because a world with magic will definitely have all kinds of things to do!
Meanwhile, I was slowly enjoying my routine, because I was always watching the children, I managed to see.
There was one of my orphanage colleagues, a guy with a dog's head, I don't remember his name, but he was the only one with those features in the orphanage, and he was the second oldest after Junnah, so I recognized him right away.
Well, he was in the middle of jumping over the fence that covers the courtyard, trying to be as stealthy as possible, as much as someone can be in broad daylight without any cover.
And the worst part is, he's doing a good job of not being noticed.
Well, I don't like being a spoilsport for others, but I'm not going to let a child run the risk of leaving the orphanage alone, since I saw it happen.
What if something happens to him?! I would definitely feel guilty.
So, I made a curious face and pointed my finger in his direction.
"Dah dah!"
Juunah noticed right away and looked at the fugitive.
She stared for a moment until she understood what was happening, as soon as she realized it, she shouted:
"Mojin!? What are you doing?!"
'Oh, his name is Mojin, these names are so random and hard to remember..'
The boy who was already halfway up the fence, was startled by the shout and fell backwards to the ground, momentarily gasping for air, but soon recovered.
'Suuu, if it were a normal child, it wouldn't have been so simple.. thank goodness the bodies here are more resistant...'
Junnah stood up all at once, irritated, and stomped hard and started cursing the poor dog boy, I mean, Mojin? I think that was it.
"Why were you jumping the fence?!"
"I was just -"
"Don't lie to me! You were trying to run away again!"
"You know what happens to kids who lie, don't you?! Superd will come and get you tonight!"
"Then tell me the truth!"
The boy shivered at the mention of the name.
'Hmm, it must be one of those stories to scare kids, but what is a Superd?'
'Wait a minute... Superd..'
'Suu. peerrr.. ddd
Why does that pronunciation sound so familiar to me?
While Kurt stood there mumbling and trying to remember where he had heard that word before, Aunt Mia, who heard the commotion, opened the door and came out of the house to see what was going on.
She was carrying another baby in her arms, this one was the last one, but apparently she couldn't go out into the yard, as she was weaker and always a little sick.
As soon as she appeared, the two of them instantly fell silent. As she approached the pair, she spoke slowly and softly.
"Junnah, what's going on? Why are you fighting with Mojin?"
As soon as she said that, Junnah turned her face to the side and spoke harshly.
"Come on, tell her why I'm fighting with you?"
The boy shivered again as he looked away from Aunt Mia, who was now looking at him curiously, as if demanding that he tell her what was going on.
"I.. I... was going to see Uncle Hachi.."
The boy explained himself hesitantly, apparently this time telling the truth.
"Uncle Hachi? Why would you want to go see him?"
As they talked, I slowly felt like I was remembering where I had heard this before, but it seemed like something was missing, and I really couldn't remember.
'Superd.. hmm, where exactly?'
So I started paying attention to their conversation, to see if they said anything else.
The boy spoke again, this time without so much apprehension.
"Uncle Hachi told me the last time he saw me that I had the talent to be a swordsman.."
"And he said that if I trained hard, I could even reach the intermediate level of the Northern God Style!"
As I heard this, something clicked in my mind, and it was as if the pieces started to fit together.
"He also said that he could train me when he had time!"
At this point, I could no longer hear their conversation, as they were in a tidal wave of wild thoughts!
'Superd, Northern God Style, Demon Race...'
A huge smile spread across my face, which I couldn't shake off.
'I think I know where I am...'
