chapter 4:

As the students continue murmuring, the principal went unto the podium looking as stern as ever.

Normally the principal would at least give them a smile whenever he appeared on the few occasions they've met him so it was quite surprising when they saw his attitude at that moment.

The dean greeted the students on his behalf

"good day every one, sorry for the inconvenience. Everyone is required to assemble here because we have two important things to announce and give verdict to. Should we say the bad news first or the good one"

below the podium the students were all giving their answers, some said the bad one while some chose the latter.

The principal was already getting annoyed so he said sternly

"I don't care about your opinions so I'm going for the good one first."

He coughed to clear his throat

"one of the computer software developed by one of our student got an award in the world computer association"

then an average looking boy was called to the podium. The principal continued his speech

"this young boy James Arthur has made our school proud. Please give him a round of applause. Because of his great achievement, the school has decided to give him a full time scholarship till he finishes his university education."

All the students including the teachers clapped to appreciate the school's decision. Han lian who was sitting beside her brother sneered before talking with sarcasm in her voice

"wow I didn't know the school was so kind until now."

Han sheng who was sitting beside her looked at his sister with disgust

"just say it directly"

han lian rolled her eyes at him indicating that she doesn't care

"am I really your sister or not. What I meant was that the school got a very huge amount of money and fame with respect because of him and now they are saying they gave him one foolish scholarship. Even the WCA gave him a choice to study in any private university under them but they are saying it as if they are the one sponsoring the scholarship. Nonsense"

Han sheng gave her a charming smile "my dear sister, please tell me where you heard this from and besides when do you become such a busybody"

she frowned

"busybody you say? Bro I was just saying what I knew, alright ?"

After sending the boy away, the principal maintained a stern face. The students all knew that the culprit was about to be summoned up to the podium.

The atmosphere became tense and everyone was silent, the silence was broken when the principal called out the culprit

"Han lian come out here".

Han lian who was called out stood up from her seat and moved towards the podium, not everybody knew her but she was recognized by many because of her extraordinarily beautiful face and her crazy tomboyish behavior.

She was not liked by many girls and they claimed that she was a bully but to everyone they knew they were just jealous of her beauty.

As han lian moved closer to the podium, a boy suddenly shouted from his seat

"han lian I love you"

this motivated some other boys and they all did the same thing and this got the principal so angry that his face turned different shades of red, he slammed his hand on the wooden table in front of him which made a loud bang.

The hall immediately turned silent that even a pin drop can be heard.She continued walking towards the podium, neither slow nor fast.

On getting to the podium, the principal who was trying to control his anger couldn't help but scold her hard

"student lian what sort of nonsense are you constituting. You committed a crime and yet you are still acting high and mighty, see the way she is dressed. Are you even a student and which parent would allow a child to leave home like this, do you even have a guardian for god sake because I heard you attend school at most twice a week. That's not even the main reason you are called out, so can you please tell us the reason you came into the school through the back gate and by jumping the fence at that".

Han lian dipped her left hand into her pocket and the other hand touching her short hair.

She gave a straight response

"the main gate was locked"

the principal sneered and said "the main gate is usually opened until ten so how come it was locked when you came" han lian pressed her lips together, a sign of her losing her patience and her voice was gradually getting cold as well as her aura

"lunch break"

she said before she continued

"I came lunch break".

Hearing this, the principal was furious. "Imagine, just imagine. What insolence, you still have the audacity to stand in front of me to tell me that you came to school by lunch break. You will definitely be punished and the best punishment for you is expulsion." Immediately he finished, the dean quickly moved towards him and whispered in his ears

"sir please don't let us make rash decisions, this is very dangerous for the school"

the principal looked at the dean in confusion as he said in an hushed voice

"What is the problem with expelling her" the dean gave him a complicated look before he replied to him

"sir we need to talk".

The principal turned to han lian

"you, you can go to your class. Your case is pending for now".

As the principal said this, the student began murmuring with hush voices making the atmosphere very tense and annoying.

The man turned to the students

"the assembly is dismissed''

Han Sheng who was quiet all this while stood up from his seat preparing to leave the hall when a tiny but strong hand held his arm stopping him from leaving.

He looked at the tiny figure in front of him whose height only reached his shoulder, and he tried to rip her fingers off him but her grip on him was too tight and this frustrated him to no end.

"Han Lian let go of me" he was trying to mask his anger but he couldn't stop his voice from being cold.

Han lian touched her head with a complicated look as a sign of being awkward

"bro what's up now. Ok am sorry"

han sheng gave her a meaningful glance before he began to walk out of the hall ignoring the figure who was still holding his arm.

When they got to a corner pathway that led to their class, he stopped and he turned to han lian

"explain"

it was a direct command.

Han lian rested against the wall behind her releasing his arm from her grip as she dipped one hand into her pocket, he was annoyed with her nonchalant attitude.

Han lian raised her brows at him indicating that she was confused, han sheng knew his sister too well, seeing her expression, he knew it would be futile to keep asking her questions about the matter so he held his peace. A deep sigh escaped from his lips and this was a sign that indicated that he released the matter, this made han lian sigh with relief because she was too lazy to explain things to him at that moment so they just let the matter slide.

"Bro come on lets go. You will be missing class you know. I honestly don't know" then she grinned widely at him before both of them went to their class.
