Days turned into a blur for Avni, yet Aarav's presence never left her mind. He hadn't appeared again, but the memory of his touch and the way his words lingered haunted her thoughts.
At school, life carried on as usual—until that afternoon. Avni was waiting at the gate when Rohan, a classmate, approached her. "Hey, Avni, want me to walk you home?" he asked with a grin.
Avni smiled faintly. "No, I'm fine. Thanks, though."
Before Rohan could reply, a black SUV pulled up across the street. The window rolled down, and Aarav's sharp gaze locked onto the scene. Avni's smile faded as her heart stilled.
"Who is that?" Aarav's voice came, deep and slow. Rohan blinked, confused. "Uh… I'm a friend. Who are you?"
The way Aarav's eyes narrowed made Avni's stomach twist. Without a word, he stepped out of the car and walked toward them, every step deliberate, every movement controlled. Rohan shifted nervously under Aarav's dark stare.
"She said she's fine. Leave," Aarav said, his voice soft yet dangerous.
Rohan hesitated before backing away, muttering a quick goodbye. Avni looked at Aarav, her chest tightening. "Why are you here?" she whispered.
Aarav ignored her question, his eyes searching her face. "Don't smile at other men, Avni. You're mine."
Her breath hitched. "Yours?"
"Yes," he said firmly, stepping closer. "If I see someone else near you, I won't be this calm."
Avni felt trapped in his gaze, her pulse quickening. Aarav reached out and tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering. "You don't understand yet, but you will."
Before she could respond, he turned back to the SUV, leaving her shaken and breathless.
