CHILDREN OF HUMANITY

A loud silence filled the air on a dark night, in a misty field, under the moonlight. Bella's corpse was lying right in front of Nero's legs. Stella was watching in shock and with the look of hopelessness.

Nero took out his knife and stabbed Bella's corpse in the chest and took out her heart. "You are complicated to truly kill. Even though she died, if somebody were to take out the bullets through a few decades, she could revive if I left her be."

"Ha?" Stella looks at Nero with absolute despair.

"Goodbye." Nero says, walking away. He reaches into his back pocket and takes out a small marble. It had a distinct red color. Stella had never seen such a red, but it was red nonetheless, looked like it was made out of a crystal of some kind. He threw it into the air, the marble flew for a few seconds before it stopped and stayed in place, levitating above their heads, then, after a second or so, it started to shine.

"The job's done," Nero reported, while Stella watched him in confusion. "One of the vampire sisters is dead."

"Geart job Nero! Am I to assume the previous job is close to completion too?" Deep voice came from the marble quite, but somehow incredibly loud.

"Yes, it's nearly finished."

"Good, no need to call after completion. I will take this as an official report. Well done."

"Okay." Nero replied, just before the marble shattered.

Finally, coming to her senses, Stella let out a gut-wrenching scream. She quickly took out the bullets and healed herself as much as she could before attacking Nero. He, however, calmly shifted his weight to the side, dodging with little trouble.

"That's a dumb move," he sighed. "I don't have any reason to kill you, so it would be better to avoid it. Would you please stop?" Pleaded Nero as he avoided another attack.

Blood dripped down on the grass, trailing toward Stella's palms, "Stop! You want me to stop!" She launched at him, but this time, he remained in place as she tackled him. She brought her claws to his neck as he continued to offer no resistance.

Her eyes glared down at Nero. Looking at him, she saw the same thing as before, two empty specs in his eyes. This time, however, they painted a completely different picture, someone who has no emotion or desire. "Why?!" She let out, her teeth breaking each other. "Why?!" Her nails sank into his skin.

"It's nothing personal, just a job," completely indifferent, Nero answered. Staring right back at Stella.

Her teeth greeted even harder. Shen wanted to end him. She wanted to slaughter him and get rid of his entire bloodline. She wanted to kill everybody even slightly involved. They all had to die.

Revenge for her sister. That's what she wanted; she is angry at the cause of it, but someone like this, he only executes orders.

Nero continued to stare at her with no struggle. "And he clearly has no intention of fighting back." She thought. Her mouth started to bleed. "Arrrgghhhhh!" She raged, her scream filling the field with sorrow before falling on him, her eyes filled with tears.

"Why did you do it? Why did you kill her?" She whimpered.

"I already told you. Nothing but a job," Nero repeated himself, placing one hand on her back, giving her a small hug.

"Why was it her? Why must it be her? Could it not have been me?" She continued to cry.

He sat up, placing his other hand on her head as it rested on his chest. His hand slightly tapped her back again and again as he gently caressed her hair. "You want to kill them?"

"Eh?" Stella glanced up, her watery eyes shining in the moonlight while they tried to discern the meaning behind this expressionless being in front of them.

"You want to take revenge, no? You want to tear off their limbs and pull their guts out. On the organization that enabled me to get close to the two of you. On my boss that wanted your sister dead… on me? So why not come with me?" Nero looks straight into her eyes, as he grabbed her face with both his hands fixing it on him, his gaze staring directly at her soul. "I will allow you the same thing they allowed me, to get close to them, to know them, to destroy them." He paused for a second. "Children of Humanity." Statement lingered in the air, Nero's eyes making sure that she would edge it into her memory. "They are the ones behind those crucified people over there. Come with me. We will burn them to the ground together."

Vampire's eyes widened at his speech, her tears slowly stopping. "Are you serious?" Stella whispered. "You want me to come with you…"

"And after we do, you can take your shot at me." His voice entered her ears as a breath, comforting, like a mother's touch, but yet so empty and distant.

His hand continued to trace along her hair. "No, that would work either, would it? You need to kill my boss too, so we would need to continue working after that as well." With one last comforting stroke, he sighed and got up. "Although, if at any point in the future, you desire to do so, you are certainly welcome to make an attempt on my life."

Stella looked up from her crawling position, seeing a helping hand coming from a man standing in front of the moon

She did not know how to respond. How could she know? He was right in every aspect but after everything… She opened her mouth and then closed it again… before finally… she took his hand and stood up.

"There is also one excellent reason for me to have you by my side right now," Nero says, breaking the silence.

"And what could that be?" Stella answers, still in a trance.

Nero responds completely monotonal, with his voice devoid of all human emotions. "I need you to drive me back... it's a pretty long way to walk, and I got here with you."

Stella was in shock at this, all the anger she has, all the sadness she feels but yet she couldn't help but chuckle at this a little. His tone was the same, stance, same, everything was the same, the same as a few moments ago. A figure that frightened her more than any god could and sent a chill down her spine that it felt like she froze up, now said something like this, yet, not a glimpse of sarcasm showed on the man's face nor was it audible in his words. He was dead serious. Stella couldn't help herself but accept such a thing and drive him to the hotel. After all, she was also curious about some things.
