Chapter 33: The Voice from the Past

The whisper sent shivers down Saanvi's spine. The name—Meera—hung in the air like an echo from another time. Satya and Saanvi stood frozen, listening. The alley was empty, yet the feeling of being watched was undeniable.

"Let's go," Satya whispered, grabbing Saanvi's hand. They hurried away from the alley, their footsteps echoing in the empty street.

Once they reached Satya's rented apartment, they locked the door behind them. Saanvi paced restlessly, her mind racing.

"That voice… It wasn't just the wind, Satya. Someone—something—was trying to tell us something," she said, rubbing her arms as if trying to shake off the lingering chill.

Satya sat down, deep in thought. "It could be a warning… or a sign that we're getting close."

Saanvi took a deep breath. "The library journal mentioned that Veer was taken away, but it didn't say by whom. What if the person who wanted to silence Veer is the same one who made Meera disappear?"

Satya nodded. "And what if they're still trying to hide the truth?"

A heavy silence settled between them. They both knew what had to be done—the palace held more secrets.

"We need to go back," Satya said. "The old wing, the locked chambers… there must be something there that can tell us what happened to Meera."

Saanvi hesitated. The palace was vast, and they had barely scratched the surface. But she also knew this was their only way forward.

"Tomorrow night," she said firmly. "We'll go after dark."

Satya agreed. "And this time, we'll be ready for whatever—or whoever—doesn't want us to find the truth."

But deep down, they both knew…

The past wasn't just calling them back.

It was waiting.
