Chapter 92: Shadows and Blood

Satya and Saanvi crouched behind the heavy wooden crates, barely daring to breathe. The dimly lit chamber reeked of dust and decay, the air thick with tension.

Jayant's footsteps echoed through the hall, slow and deliberate. A predator searching for its prey.

In his hand, a gun—loaded and ready.

Satya gritted his teeth. Jayant wasn't just looking for them; he was ready to kill.

One of Jayant's men moved closer, scanning the room. His boots scraped against the stone floor as he stepped past their hiding spot. A mistake.

Satya struck first.

He lunged, wrapping an arm around the man's neck, cutting off his air before he could react. The man struggled, but Satya tightened his grip until the body went limp. He gently lowered him to the ground.

Saanvi's eyes darted to the second guard. He had just turned, eyes widening in realization—too late.

Before he could raise his weapon, Saanvi grabbed a broken wooden beam and swung.

Crack.

The man collapsed, groaning in pain. Satya finished him off with a precise blow, making sure he wouldn't wake up anytime soon.

Now only one remained.

Jayant.

A deadly silence followed as Satya and Saanvi pressed themselves against the stone walls, watching Jayant.

He stopped walking. And then, he laughed.

"I know you're here," he said, his voice eerily calm. He cocked his gun, letting the metallic sound echo through the room. "You've always been here, haven't you? Sticking your nose where it doesn't belong—just like Veer and Meera did."

Satya's fingers curled into fists. Jayant was speaking as if he already knew everything.

Jayant took slow, deliberate steps toward the center of the room. "The throne," he continued, "was never supposed to remain empty. Do you know what happened when Veer and Meera got in the way? When they refused to be pawns in our plans?"

His grip tightened around the gun. His anger was barely restrained.

"The betrayal wasn't just about power," Jayant sneered. "It was about what Veer and Meera represented—a love that was never meant to exist, a defiance that shattered everything we built. And now, history is repeating itself."

Satya's breath hitched. His memories were still fragmented, but deep inside, he knew Jayant wasn't lying.

Veer and Meera had fought against something much bigger. A plot that was never meant to come to light.

Jayant's voice turned colder. "You don't understand, do you, Satya?"

He turned his head slightly, as if sensing their exact location.

"This isn't just about the past. This is about erasing its mistakes."

Satya's heartbeat thundered in his chest. Jayant wasn't here just to stop them.
