The Hunt for Kirigaya's Diary

Moksh discovers a Watcher symbol and an ancient Sumerian inscription in Rashid's house, hinting at a weakening barrier between worlds. Rashid denies knowing anything about the symbol despite it being found in his home. The inscription translates to "The veil is thin," a concept referring to the boundary between realities. Moksh also detects the scent of Cursed Human blood, despite their supposed absence for decades. Expert Albert confirms the symbol's Watcher origin and identifies the inscription, revealing the Watchers' belief in a weakening veil and the potential return of Cursed Humans. Rashid eventually admits to seeing a tall, gaunt figure with glowing red eyes and hearing strange whispers. Just as Moksh and Albert realize the danger, they are abducted by men in black suits displaying Watcher symbols, leaving their motives and affiliation unclear. The story will explore the Watchers' plans, the meaning of "the veil," the connection between the Cursed Humans and the Watchers, and the identity and intentions of the men who abducted Moksh and Albert.

The air crackled with unspoken tension as Moksh and Albert exchanged a knowing glance. The masked man, his eyes glinting behind the fabric, merely chuckled. "Don't try to be clever," he rasped, his voice a distorted echo, "we just need one thing." The 'one thing' was a pulsating, obsidian-like stone. With a swift, almost casual gesture, he touched it to Moksh's ornate pendant. The stone seemed to melt into the metal, absorbed as if by a living thing.

"We have got the Light of the Heart and Darkness," the masked man declared, a strange triumph in his tone. Moksh felt a jolt, an alien energy surging through him. "What was that? What did you do to me?" he demanded, his voice strained.

Before the masked man could answer, Albert, his eyes narrowed, began chanting in a low, resonant voice. The air shimmered, the world twisted, and suddenly, they were standing in Moksh's living room.

"Idiot, Albert, why did you teleport us here?" Moksh fumed. "We could have caught them!"

"You forget," Albert replied, his voice calm but edged with steel, "that I am a magic expert. And none of those who were with them were human. They are all controlled puppets of the Watchers. If you try to extract information, they will explode. I have handled many such cases before."

Moksh's anger subsided, replaced by a chilling realization. "They'll harm ordinary people soon," he muttered.

"They won't do anything so blatant," Albert countered. "Use your brain, you were in the Detective Department. They operate in the shadows. Now, I need to do some research."

The next day, as Tara left for school, the doorbell rang. It was Inspector Bikash. After a brief, awkward exchange, Bikash revealed he was being transferred and had come to say goodbye. "It seems you two are very busy," he remarked, a hint of something unreadable in his eyes. The word "two" snagged in Moksh's mind. He turned to find Albert, seemingly oblivious, engrossed in documents.

"There is a door in the house, you know," Moksh snapped. "You suddenly appear inside, you have no manners."

"Sit," Albert said, ignoring the barb. "I have some leads. Look at this." He thrust a document at Moksh. It detailed the life of Kazuto Kirigaya – computer specialist, swordsman, magic user, and legendary APC officer and professor. "He trained over a thousand officers," Moksh murmured, impressed.

"And," Albert continued, his voice dropping, "he was a member of the Kirigaya bloodline, experts in sword arts, and… he was once a member of the Watchers."

A chill ran down Moksh's spine. "So, what's the connection?"

"Kirigaya kept a diary," Albert explained. "He documented all his research, his knowledge... everything. You saw it once, remember, when he taught at the academy."

"The diary," Moksh breathed. "That's our only lead."

They had a name, a target: Kirigaya's diary. But as they delved deeper, a more sinister mystery began to unfold. The document Albert had shown Moksh… it was incomplete. The last line, partially obscured, read: "The Kirigaya bloodline… their magic… it requires a sacrifice. And the Light of the Heart…" The rest was torn away. What was the sacrifice? And what was the true purpose of the Light of the Heart and Darkness, now residing within Moksh?
