The beast emerged from the shade of the branches, it was black and it hulking form loomed over Jake like a vice.

The long, spindly fingers that seems like a razor-sharp claws, and a snake-like tongue that was darting in and out of its mouth just freak the hell out of jake.

Jake's eyes widened in terror as the furious beast charged towards him, unexpectedly. He quickly scrambled to his feet as fast as he could, but before he could even stand upright, the beast swung a massive paw at him.

Jake ducked just in time, avoiding the blow by mere inches. The beast's claws swiped through the air, missing Jake's face by a hair's breadth. He was very lucky he was able dorged the strike swiftly, that snapped could have ended him.

He stumbled backward again, his eyes still locked onto the beast's, never leaving it. He could literally see the hungry gleam in the beast, that seemed to pierce right through him.
