Lu Han sat inside the room, and for no reason, his nose suddenly itched.
"Achoo!"
He sneezed, and Lu Xue quickly handed him a tissue, chiding gently, "Brother, make sure to dry yourself properly after showering. Are you catching a cold?"
Before he could respond, his phone rang—it was Shen Luoyan.
Lu Han then remembered that tomorrow was Wednesday, the day he agreed to meet her.
...
Inside the Lu family estate, Lu Zhensheng felt a pang of regret as he watched Lu Xue rush back to Lu Han.
"If I had known these two kids would get along so well, why would I have looked for Su Qingli as a daughter-in-law? They're not biological siblings; they could have been even closer."
Walking away, he wondered which lucky guy would eventually win Lu Xue's heart.
Back in the room, Lu Han was still processing the call from Shen Luoyan. He knew he couldn't avoid this meeting any longer.
"Hello, Shen Luoyan," Lu Han answered the phone, trying to keep his tone neutral.
"Hi, Lu Han. I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Shen Luoyan replied, her voice tinged with concern. "I just wanted to confirm our meeting tomorrow. It's important we talk."
"I remember. We agreed to meet at the café near your office, right?" Lu Han asked, though he already knew the answer.
"Yes, that's right. I'll see you there at 2 PM," Shen Luoyan confirmed. "Take care until then."
After hanging up, Lu Han leaned back on the sofa, lost in thought. Lu Xue noticed his troubled expression and sat beside him.
"Is everything okay, Brother?" she asked softly, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, it's just... complicated," Lu Han sighed. "Shen Luoyan wants to meet me tomorrow. There's a lot of unresolved issues between us."
"Do you want me to come with you?" Lu Xue offered, wanting to support him in any way she could.
"No, it's something I need to handle alone," Lu Han replied, giving her a reassuring smile. "But thanks for offering."
The next day arrived swiftly. Lu Han dressed neatly and made his way to the café. As he approached, he saw Shen Luoyan already seated at their usual spot, sipping on a cup of coffee.
"Hi, Lu Han," Shen Luoyan greeted him with a small smile. "Thank you for coming."
"Of course," Lu Han replied, taking a seat across from her. "What did you want to talk about?"
Shen Luoyan took a deep breath before speaking. "I know things between us are complicated, but I've been thinking a lot lately. About what happened in the past, and how we can move forward."
Lu Han listened quietly, waiting for her to continue.
"I understand you've been through a lot, and I don't want to add to your burdens," Shen Luoyan continued. "But I also can't ignore my feelings. I've missed you, Lu Han."
Her words hung in the air, heavy with emotion. Lu Han felt a mix of sympathy and confusion. He didn't know how to respond.
"Shen Luoyan, I—" Lu Han started, but she interrupted him.
"Please, let me finish," Shen Luoyan pleaded. "I know we have a lot to work through, but I'm willing to try if you are. I don't want to lose you again."
Lu Han looked into her eyes, seeing the sincerity and pain reflected there. He realized that despite everything, she still cared deeply for him.
"Alright," Lu Han finally said. "Let's take it one step at a time. We both have a lot to heal from, but maybe we can help each other."
Shen Luoyan nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "Thank you, Lu Han. That means more to me than you know."
As they continued talking, the tension between them began to ease. Both knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but they were willing to face it together.
