Chaoter 29: Day 1 Marriage

Lee woke up feeling unusually warm. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the light, and then realized something—an arm was wrapped around her waist.

Her eyes widened. Gen.

She slowly turned her head and saw Gen, sleeping peacefully beside her, her face just inches away.

Lee frowned. We agreed she'd sleep on the couch!

She shoved Gen's arm off. "Hey! Get up!"

Gen groaned and turned over, pulling the blanket over her head. "Five more minutes, babe…"

Lee's eye twitched. Babe?!

She pulled the blanket off Gen completely. "Get out of my bed!"

Gen finally opened her eyes, smirking. "Morning, wifey."

Lee crossed her arms. "Why are you here? You were supposed to sleep on the couch."

Gen stretched lazily. "I tried, but the couch was uncomfortable. And since we're married, shouldn't we sleep together?"

Lee grabbed a pillow and smacked her. "No! Get out!"

Gen laughed, dodging another hit. "Come on, Doc. It's not like I did anything. You were the one hugging me in your sleep."

Lee turned red. "Liar!"

Gen shrugged. "Guess we'll never know."

Lee groaned and got out of bed. "I can't believe I have to deal with this for a whole year."

Gen sat up, grinning. "Oh, you love it."

Lee glared. "I do not."

Gen smirked. "Wanna say that after last night's hug?"

Lee threw another pillow at her.

Breakfast Time

Lee walked into the kitchen, rubbing her temples. "I need coffee."

She stopped when she saw Gen standing by the stove, flipping pancakes.

Lee blinked. "You can cook?"

Gen scoffed. "Of course. I own a restaurant, remember?"

Lee sat down, watching her. "I thought you just bossed people around."

Gen grinned. "That too."

A plate of pancakes landed in front of Lee. "Eat up, Mrs. Gen."

Lee sighed. "Don't call me that."

Gen sat across from her. "Fine. Mrs. Lee Gen?"

Lee groaned. "That's worse."

Gen smirked. "You'll get used to it."

Lee took a bite of the pancakes. They were… annoyingly good.

Gen watched her expectantly. "Well? Good, right?"

Lee grabbed a napkin and a pen. She wrote something and slid it over.

Gen read it. "It's okay."

Gen gasped. "Just okay?! These are top-tier pancakes!"

Lee shrugged. "I've had better."

Gen clutched her chest. "You wound me, wife."

Lee ignored her and continued eating.

A Visit from Wang Yan

Just as they finished breakfast, the doorbell rang.

Gen opened it, and there stood Wang Yan, looking as serious as ever.

"Morning, mother-in-law," Gen said, smirking.

Wang ignored her and looked at Lee. "How was the first night?"

Lee nearly choked on her coffee. "Mom! Why are you asking that?!"

Gen grinned. "Oh, it was lovely. Very warm and cozy."

Lee shot her a look. Shut up!

Wang nodded. "Good. Remember the deal."

Gen leaned against the doorframe. "Relax, I haven't forgotten."

Wang gave her a sharp look. "One year. Don't play games."

Gen saluted. "Yes, ma'am."

Wang sighed and turned to Lee. "If anything happens, call me."

Lee nodded quickly. "Yes, Mom."

Wang glanced at Gen one last time before leaving.

As soon as the door closed, Lee groaned. "This is so stressful."

Gen stretched. "Well, that's married life for you."

Lee sighed. "I need another coffee."

Gen smirked. "Or… you could kiss me for energy?"

Lee grabbed a spoon and pointed it at her. "Stay away."

Gen laughed. "You'll give in one day."

Lee rolled her eyes. "Not happening."

Gen just grinned. "We'll see, wifey. We'll see."
