Chapter 45: Late Night Calls and Jealousy

It had been a few days since Lee left for Japan, and Gen was already feeling the emptiness of their apartment. She didn't realize how much she had gotten used to Lee's presence until she wasn't there anymore.

Every night, they called each other before sleeping, though Lee's schedule was packed.

That night, Gen lay on the couch, phone in hand, waiting for Lee's call. She had already taken a shower and was in her usual loose T-shirt and shorts, staring at the ceiling.

Her phone finally buzzed.

Lee: Are you still awake?

Gen smirked and quickly answered the video call. "Of course. Waiting for my wifey's call is my priority."

Lee sighed on the other end. "You're so dramatic."

Gen grinned. "It's called romance, babe. You should try it."

Lee rolled her eyes. "I'm working. I don't have time for your nonsense."

Gen pouted. "So mean. And here I was, missing you."

Lee raised an eyebrow. "You? Missing me? You're surrounded by people at the restaurant."

Gen sighed dramatically. "But no one teases me back like you do. It's boring."

Lee chuckled, shaking her head. "You're impossible."

A New Problem

As they talked, Lee hesitated for a second before asking, "So… how's work?"

Gen shrugged. "Same old. Customers, food, and annoying co-workers. Why?"

Lee bit her lip. "I saw that young chef still working there."

Gen blinked. "Who? Oh! You mean the guy who was flirting with me that day?"

Lee's face darkened slightly. "Yes."

Gen chuckled. "What? Don't tell me you're still upset about that?"

Lee looked away. "I just don't like seeing people act that way around you."

Gen smirked. "Aww, is my wife jealous?"

Lee glared at her. "Don't start."

Gen laughed. "Relax. He's harmless. And you already know no one can steal me from you."

Lee sighed. "Still. I don't like it."

Gen softened. "Alright, alright. I'll be careful. But you know I only have eyes for you, right?"

Lee was silent for a moment before mumbling, "I know."

Gen smiled. "Good. Now, stop worrying and focus on work. I'll be here waiting for you."

Lee sighed but nodded. "Fine. I'll talk to you tomorrow."

Gen grinned. "Sweet dreams, babe."

Lee hung up, but Gen could tell she was still bothered.

Looks like she'd have to make it up to her when she got back.
