In the depths of the lush forest bordering Sturgon Theocracy and Harlow Empire, where towering trees loomed and the air hummed with the sounds of unseen creatures, Shennong walked with two succubi trailing beside him.
Their presence was unmistakable—seductive figures with sharp, mischievous eyes and an aura of temptation that clung to them like perfume. But for Shennong, they were more than that. They were close friends.
It was weird for any humans to be even close to them, but Shennong of course raised by a one of the most dangerous and erotic succubus had no problem being around them.
"So, Shennong," one of the succubi spoke, her long crimson hair cascading down her back with her slightish red skin glowing without any clothes to cover them fully. Her protruding ass and her motherly hips were only something humans could look once before them dying of excess ejaculation. "What exactly are we looking for out here? You dragged us into the forest with the promise of an interesting adventure. Don't tell me this is just another one of your human curiosities."
Shennong glanced at her with a small smirk. "It's iron. I need to find some. I heard you two know about this area."
The other succubus, a silver-haired beauty with violet eyes, tilted her head. "Iron? Why not just take what you need from human settlements? It's easier than digging through dirt, you know."
Shennong shook his head. "I don't want scraps. I want a stable supply. If I find the right place, I can mine and refine it myself. That way, I won't have to rely on small scraps but... if I am desperate I'll just steal them."
The two succubi exchanged glances, then shrugged in unison. "Suit yourself," the red-haired one said. "You always did have weird ideas."
"It's called planning ahead, Rilith," Shennong retorted with a chuckle. "Unlike you two, I can't just hunt and move on. I have things I want to build. You two should also do something beside hunting for fun."
The silver-haired succubus, who had been idly twirling a leaf between her fingers, smiled. "We do make things easier, don't we?" She paused. "Oh, I just realized you call us Rilith and Velara. I'm glad you gave us names just like Yenissa. I heard having names make things easier for humans."
"It does," Shennong said, stopping in his tracks. "Rilith for you," he pointed at the red-haired one, "and Velara for you." He gestured to the silver-haired succubus.
Velara grinned. "Not bad. I like it."
They continued their trek, talking about mundane things—Rilith's complaints about how the forest lacked the usual calming winds it used to have, Velara's musings about a human bard she encountered recently, and Shennong's thoughts on refining metals. But then, curiosity struck him, and he asked, "By the way, how are you two feeding these days?"
Rilith tossed her hair back. "We're doing fine. There's a human village close by. We take turns, so no one gets suspicious. We are careful not to kill our preys. We just feed on them and erase their memories."
"Yeah," Velara added, "but we've been meaning to tell you something. It's about Yenissa."
Shennong's gaze sharpened. "What about her?"
Rilith pursed her lips. "She hasn't been feeding at all."
Shennong blinked. "What?"
"Ever since she found you, she hasn't fed on a single human," Velara explained. "She's been surviving off normal food."
His brows furrowed. "And that's a problem because...?"
Velara sighed. "We're succubi, Shennong. We don't process food like humans. It gives us some energy, but it's not enough. Yenissa has been forcing herself to live like a normal animal. And if she keeps it up..." Her voice trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid.
Rilith crossed her arms. "It's fatal."
Shennong stiffened, the weight of their words settling in his chest. "How long does she have?"
Velara frowned. "Hard to say. But she's weakening. If she doesn't feed soon, she'll deteriorate."
He exhaled sharply and sat on a nearby rock, his mind racing. Yenissa had raised him. She had protected him. And now, she was starving herself because of him? Because of some misplaced sense of morality? It made his blood boil. It also invoked some unknown feeling inside him. He didn't want Yenissa to feed on others. What was that feeling? He had to wonder.
Minutes passed in silence before Shennong finally stood up, his gaze determined. "Then let's make a human farm."
Both succubi blinked at him. "What?" they said in unison.
"You heard me," he continued. "You girls risk your lives sneaking into villages to feed. That's dangerous. You could get caught, or worse, hunted down. If we create a controlled supply, you wouldn't have to risk anything."
Rilith stared at him as if he had grown two heads. "Shennong, you're a human. And you're suggesting we breed humans for feeding? Do you realize how insane that sounds?"
Velara, however, was staring at him with an unsettling hunger in her eyes. "He's serious," she murmured, licking her lips. "And honestly, I love that about him."
"Shennong, you can't be serious—" Rilith started, but he cut her off.
"I don't care what humans call me. Traitor, monster, whatever. Yenissa, you two... you're my family. I'll support you. I'll make sure you never have to starve or fear being hunted again. I have an idea."
A beat of silence followed, then Velara took a step forward. "Shennong... you really are something special."
Then, in a flash, she lunged at him.
"Ah-ah!" Rilith grabbed her mid-air, pulling her back. "You're getting ahead of yourself. If you touch him, Yenissa will kill you."
Velara pouted, but her eyes still gleamed with hunger. "Can't blame a girl for trying."
Shennong sighed. "Let's focus on the farm idea before Yenissa really does kill you both."
Rilith chuckled. "Fine, fine. But you really are something else, Shennong. Most humans would run from us, but you? You're helping us survive."
He smirked. "Someone's gotta keep you two in check."
Velara leaned in close, her voice a seductive whisper. "Just don't forget, Shennong, that we're not the only ones who need to eat. You should be careful not to get eaten yourself."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Let's get to work."
Rilith left a one last comment that made Shennong think. "I don't even if put hundreds of humans in front of Yenissa she will no longer be interested unless..." She paused. "Unless you do something about it,"
Shennong wasn't foolish to not understand what she meant and he knew something was coming and he was ready for whatever it is.
And with that, they ventured deeper into the forest, discussing plans for what could very well change the fate of succubi forever.
Shennong laughed as he sat on the soft grass resting, watching the two women twirl around with their arms outstretched, making strange noises as they mimicked the wind. It was a silly game, something they had come up with on a whim, but he found it amusing nonetheless.
However, just as he was about to join in, the two women suddenly froze. Their laughter died, and their eyes flickered with caution as they looked around.
Shennong blinked. "What's wrong?"
The two women exchanged glances before whispering in unison, "Hide."
Without another word, they grabbed his arms and pulled him into the thick bushes nearby. Their movements were swift and silent, like those of experienced hunters avoiding detection. Shennong crouched down beside them, peeking through the leaves to see what had alarmed them.
A group of humans was advancing through the forest. They carried weapons—swords, spears, bows—gleaming under the dim light filtering through the dense canopy. Their armor clanked softly with each step, and their voices carried through the woods.
"We've got to move fast. The tracks are still fresh," one of the humans said.
"Yeah. If we waste time, they might escape," another replied. "We don't want to go empty handed to meet the Duke."
Shennong listened carefully, his eyes narrowing as he absorbed their words. So, it wasn't just monsters hunting humans—humans were hunting monsters too.
His immediate thought was they were hunters or adventures seeking monster material.
The two women beside him remained completely still, waiting until the humans passed. When the group finally disappeared into the forest, one of them let out a quiet sigh of relief. "That was close."
"I've never seen humans come this deep into the forest before," the other whispered. "It's dangerous for them to invade our space like this."
But instead of sharing their concern, Shennong's lips curved into a grin. He sat back against the bushes, a gleam of excitement flashing in his eyes.
"This is perfect."
The two women frowned. "What do you mean?" one of them asked cautiously.
Shennong pointed in the direction the humans had gone. "Those weapons and armours they were carrying… they were made of iron. And I haven't been able to find any iron deposits in this forest." He grinned wider, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "So, we're going to get some prey."
The two women exchanged uncertain glances. "Prey? You mean… the humans?"
Shennong shook his head. "Yes those weapons and armours are for me and...humans are for you two."
The two women still looked skeptical. "But those humans looked dangerous. If they see us—"
"They won't see us," Shennong assured them. "We'll be quick. We'll wait for the right moment and take what we need."
The two women hesitated, but seeing the determination in his eyes, they knew there was no stopping him. With a sigh, they nodded. "Alright. But if anything goes wrong, we run."
Shennong smirked. "Deal."
