"Zara, Ethan is here to take the kids. Please open the door and come out," Zavier said softly after a light tap on the door.
No response.
For several minutes, he tried talking her out. But she was so quiet, you'd think the room was empty—if not for the fact that he could see her sitting there through the peephole.
"Zavier, they're ready to leave," Elizabeth said as she approached him.
Zavier knocked again. "Zara, they're really leaving. You'll regret it if you don't come out and speak to them."
Still nothing.
They kept trying to persuade her, but Zara didn't budge.
Meanwhile, the kids were buzzing with excitement. The moment they heard they'd be spending time with their father, they lit up like Christmas lights.
Wearing their backpacks, they ran out of their rooms, completely unaware of the tension among the adults.
Their giggles echoed through the hallway.
