Morning came.
I woke up, stared at the ceiling, and immediately remembered—today was the weekend.
And not just any weekend—I was going out with Rin.
(Not because I wanted to, but because that's how the author is gonna build the world. Fuck you, author.)
I dragged myself out of bed, opened my wardrobe, and—
It was empty.
As empty as the author's mind.
Right. I forgot. I was reincarnated here in the middle of a damn forest.
I sighed. "Wish I had a black jacket and black jeans."
Then the jeans and jacket appeared in my hands.
I froze.
Then I lost my fucking mind.
"I was asking for apples and other shit the other day, and I got NOTHING! But NOW you're giving me stuff?! HUH?! YOU THINK YOU'RE SMART, AUTHOR?!"
Knock knock.
"Stop shouting! This isn't your home!" came a voice from outside my door.
I cleared my throat. "Ahem. Whatever."
Then I reached under my bed and pulled out a gun.
"Just in case someone tries to assassinate me."
---
Outside the Academy
Rin was already waiting for me.
In a dress.
She put her hands on her hips. "Took your time."
I shrugged. "Can't help it."
Then she latched onto my arm. "Let's get going then!"
"Can you please let go of my hand?"
"No!"
"Fine."
---
At the Nearest City
The moment we arrived, I lost it.
All I could focus on was the fucking wind turbine far in the distance.
"It was supposed to be a fucking fantasy setting! Why the FUCK is there a fucking WIND TURBINE?! WHAT THE FUCK IS EVEN HAPPENING?! IS THE AUTHOR RETARDED?!"
Rin blinked. "What the hell are you talking about? It's just a giant wheel."
I started pacing in circles. "That's the PROBLEM."
Rin ignored me and clung onto my arm again. "Come on now, let's continue our date!"
"Let's go to the museum," she said, pointing at the nearest building.
I stopped. "…WHO THE FUCK PUT A MUSEUM IN A FANTASY SETTING? THIS ISN'T A SCHOOL STORY, AUTHOR! IT'S A MEDIEVAL ERA! WHAT THE FUCK?!"
Rin dragged me inside before I could scream at the sky again.
---
Inside the Museum
We wandered around, looking at old paintings, swords, and random artifacts.
Then, I saw it.
Rin pointed at a massive display. "This is the bones of a demon!"
I stared at the massive skeleton.
It was a Spinosaurus fossil.
I started banging my head against the wall.
Rin panicked. "HEY! WHY ARE YOU BANGING YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL?!"
"LADY. THAT'S A FUCKING FOSSIL OF A SPINOSAURUS. A DAMN. FUCKING. DINOSAUR."
Rin tilted her head. "What's a dinosaur?"
I inhaled deeply. "Never mind. Can we go eat? I'm hungry."
Rin beamed. "Okay~!"
---
At the Nearest Restaurant
I was banging my head against the table because we just came up IN A FUCKING ELEVATOR.
"WHY. WHY. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FANTASY SETTING."
Rin ignored my suffering. "What would you like to eat~?"
"Whatever you order."
"Okay~!"
"Before that, I'm gonna go to the bathroom. Or washroom. Whatever the fuck you call it here."
"Come back quickly~!"
---
The Moment I Noticed
On my way to the washroom, I felt it.
A presence.
No—multiple.
Ever since I got here, I've always felt like I was being watched, but now? They were close. Too close.
I pretended not to notice.
I went to the washroom. Washed my hands.
Then I walked right past Rin without saying a word.
I didn't stop until I reached an empty alleyway.
---
The Fight in the Alley
I stopped. "Come out. I know you're following me."
Five men in black cloaks surrounded me.
The air turned heavy.
One of them chuckled. "Smart. You noticed."
"Nah, I just have plot armor."
"Tch. Kill him."
The first one lunged at me with a dagger.
I sidestepped, grabbed his wrist, and twisted.
His bones snapped. He screamed.
I pulled him forward, smashed his face into my knee, then threw his unconscious body into the others.
"One down."
The remaining four surrounded me.
One swung a blade at my throat.
I ducked, grabbed his arm, and twisted. He dropped his weapon.
Before he could react, I swept his legs out from under him and sent him crashing into the pavement.
Another tried to stab me from behind.
I turned, caught his wrist, and delivered an elbow strike to his ribs.
CRACK.
He coughed up blood and collapsed.
Two left.
One of them charged at me.
I kicked him straight in the stomach. He flew backward and hit the wall.
The last one pulled out a crossbow.
I darted forward before he could fire, grabbed him by the collar, and slammed him into the ground.
"Huh. That was easy." I dusted off my hands. "Didn't even have to use the gun. Plot armor, baby."
I turned to leave—
SHING!
Pain exploded in my chest.
I looked down. A blade was sticking through my heart.
I coughed up blood. "You… motherfucker…"
The assassin ripped the blade out. I staggered.
"You were careless," he smirked.
I glared at him. "You should've aimed for my head… Wait a minute. I've heard this one before…"
BANG!
I shot him in the leg.
He screamed and collapsed.
I stumbled toward him, bleeding all over the place.
Then I pressed my boot into his wound.
"Talk."
"I'd rather die than tell you anything," he spat.
"Ah, whatever. Let me guess—Julian sent you."
"I will not tell you anything!"
"I don't want you to."
I raised my gun.
"Farewell, motherfucker."
BANG!
I shot him in the head.
---
Outside the Alley
Rin spotted me and ran over, panic all over her face. "LEON! WHAT HAPPENED?! I HEARD TWO LOUD NOISES AND—WHY ARE YOU BLEEDING?!"
I laughed. "Haha… just got stabbed through the heart."
"WE NEED TO GET YOU TO A DOCTOR!"
"No, but first—"
---
Back at the Dorms
Julian sipped his wine. "Do you think the assassins you sent can kill him?"
His butler nodded. "Yes, my lord. Those are the most skilled assassins I know."
BANG!
A gunshot echoed outside.
"JULIAN, COME OUT, YOU LITTLE BASTARD!"
Rin, who was supporting me, looked like she was about to cry. "LEON, YOU NEED A DOCTOR!"
Amilya walked in. "What was that loud noise?—" then she gasped. "WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!"
Julian appeared, looking pissed. "There you are, you little son of a bitch."
Some instructors and students gathered.
I took a shaky step forward, coughing up more blood. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself? You couldn't defeat me yourself, so you sent assassins?"
Julian sneered. "I haven't sent anyone. You can't blame me."
"*Oh, I am.**" I wiped my mouth. "That fucker stabbed me through the heart. I don't even know how the fuck I'm still alive."
I started walking in circles.
"Do you have proof?"
"No. But when I do—prepare for your demise."
More blood leaked from my mouth.
Then I collapsed.
"Ahhh… fuck… I'll… see you soon…"
My vision faded.
