Chapter 35: The House Collapsed!

"Let's go! To celebrate your success, Zhuqing, we'll take a bath, change clothes, and then head to the city for a feast!"

"You're just hungry, aren't you?"

Zhu Zhuqing teased him with a playful tone.

Dai Mubai scratched his head sheepishly. She wasn't wrong—he was hungry.

Even though he hadn't been doing anything physically intense, his body was constantly burning energy.

Ruffling Zhu Zhuqing's hair affectionately, Dai Mubai earned a roll of her eyes in response.

Wasting no time, he swept Zhu Zhuqing into his arms and sprinted toward the dormitories.

Once they were gone, Ning Rongrong stepped out from behind the tree and made her way to where Zhu Zhuqing had been training.

Frowning, she muttered to herself,

How on earth did Zhu Zhuqing stand on the water?

After a moment's hesitation, Ning Rongrong lifted one dainty foot, still clad in her crystal high-heeled shoe, and lightly tapped the water's surface.

"Splash!"

The next second, Ning Rongrong plunged straight into the water.

"???"

"Maybe my posture was wrong?"

Crawling back onto the shore, Ning Rongrong's face was filled with determination.

Imitating Zhu Zhuqing's earlier stance, she tried again.

"Splash!"

Once again, she fell in.

"Hmph! If she can do it, so can I! There's no way I'll lose to Zhu Zhuqing!"

Ning Rongrong had officially locked horns with the little river.

She refused to believe that Zhu Zhuqing could succeed while she couldn't.

What she didn't realize was that without understanding the technique or the principles behind it, she could train until she became a diving champion and still wouldn't be able to walk on water.

Time flew by, and soon the sun rose on another day.

Zhu Zhuqing, having fully mastered water-walking, now stared curiously at a pile of water balloons, lost in thought.

"Aren't these the balloons Dai Mubai bought the first time we went to Soto City?"

She remembered Dai Mubai buying an absurd number of balloons and balls that day.

So they were for training all along?

Looks like I misunderstood him.

"Smooch!"

Dai Mubai: "???"

Without warning, Zhu Zhuqing leaned in and gave Dai Mubai a quick kiss on the cheek, leaving him momentarily stunned.

What just happened?

But Dai Mubai quickly recovered. Tossing the water balloon aside, he wrapped his arms around Zhu Zhuqing and said with a mischievous grin,

"You dare sneak attack me? I'll get you back for that!"

Zhu Zhuqing shot him a glare, but didn't resist as he "returned the favor."

When they were done fooling around, Dai Mubai grew serious again.

Training with the Spiral Sphere wasn't something to take lightly. One wrong move and the energy could backfire, causing a dangerous explosion.

To avoid accidents, Dai Mubai demonstrated the technique carefully, step by step, for Zhu Zhuqing.

But what happened next nearly made his jaw drop.

On her first attempt, Zhu Zhuqing succeeded in forming a perfect Spiral Sphere—just by using a simple water balloon!

From there, she progressed to using larger balloons, and then finally…

She managed to condense a complete Spiral Sphere!

As he watched Zhu Zhuqing standing there with the glowing orb of compressed energy in her palm, Dai Mubai scratched his head in disbelief.

Could it be that cats have some natural affinity for round objects?

Cough… cough…

"Mubai, did I do it right?"

Zhu Zhuqing asked hesitantly, surprised by how quickly she had grasped the skill.

To her, the Spiral Sphere didn't seem particularly difficult. Once she had mastered tree-climbing and water-walking, this had come naturally.

Dai Mubai: Ah, yes, sure, it's not hard at all…

Fourth Hokage? Seventh Hokage? You two spent years perfecting this technique. Zhu Zhuqing just made you look like fools.

With a straight face, Dai Mubai nodded solemnly and said,

"Zhuqing, you've done it! Although you took a tiny bit longer than I did, you're still an absolute genius!"

"Now go ahead and dispel the Spiral Sphere."

"Huh? How do I do that?"

Dai Mubai: "…"

Glancing at the newly built wooden dormitory, Dai Mubai hesitated.

That building had cost a fortune.

If not for the need to keep the Spiral Sphere's training method a secret, he never would have practiced it indoors.

"Aim it at that wall. Don't hesitate, or you might lose control!"

Zhu Zhuqing: "…"

A few moments later…

"Boom!"

When the dust settled, Dai Mubai emerged from the rubble, carrying Zhu Zhuqing in his arms. Both of them were covered in soot and looked a little worse for wear.

Looking back at the collapsed building, Dai Mubai couldn't help but feel his heart ache.

Of all the walls she could have hit… she had to hit the load-bearing wall?!

"Mubai, I…"

Zhu Zhuqing lowered her head, looking both embarrassed and guilty.

"It's fine. We'll build an even better one."

Dai Mubai ruffled her hair gently, his tone soft and reassuring.

"Mm!"

Flender was the first to arrive on the scene.

His martial soul had already been activated, and his face was twisted in anger.

He had assumed the academy was under attack.

"Who dares cause trouble at my Shrek Academy?!"

Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing: "…"

The two of them exchanged awkward glances.

Who would be crazy enough to destroy their own room for fun?

"Headmaster, it's fine. Zhuqing and I were just… messing around. There's no enemy attack."

Dai Mubai said, his voice steady.

Flender: "…"

Messing around?! You demolished an entire building while "messing around"? Just how much "fun" were you having?!

Flender's eye twitched violently as he looked from the rubble to the pair standing before him.

After a long silence, he finally said,

"Young people… take care of your bodies… and focus on training."

Before either of them could respond, Flender disappeared in a flash.

Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing: "…"

"Let's go, Zhuqing. We need to find someone to rebuild this place."

"Mm."

Zhu Zhuqing hesitated for a moment before adding softly,

"Mubai… if we only build one room, will it be faster?"

Dai Mubai: "???"

What does she mean by that?

But then realization dawned on him.

"Yes, if it's just one room, it'll definitely be done faster. We could probably move in tonight."

"Then… let's just build one room."

Zhu Zhuqing's face turned red as she lowered her head, clearly flustered.

"Alright!"

The previous building had been a two-bedroom house with a living room. Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had each had their own rooms.

But now?

As Dai Mubai glanced at the collapsed building, he gave himself a mental thumbs-up.

This couldn't have worked out better!

Meanwhile, Ning Rongrong, still stubbornly trying to stand on water, sneezed loudly.

"Achoo!"

After spending an entire night falling into the river, the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan had successfully caught a cold.
