Chapter 32: The True Face of the Flat-Top

By the time Dai Mubai and Flender arrived at the training grounds, more than half an hour had already passed.

At this point, Flender was practically shaking with the urge to strangle Yu Xiaogang, but he restrained himself.

He couldn't tear into Yu Xiaogang just yet—not until he gathered enough evidence to confront him properly.

After all, Liu Erlong was already deeply infatuated with Yu Xiaogang. Without undeniable proof, Flender was certain that even if he told her the truth, she would only accuse him of slandering Yu Xiaogang.

Hearing Flender's thoughts, Dai Mubai couldn't help but twitch his lips.

Flender, you really do understand Liu Erlong perfectly.

There was one thing Dai Mubai hadn't said aloud, though: even if Flender presented solid evidence, Liu Erlong might still choose to forgive Yu Xiaogang.

"Flender! How can it take you over half an hour to find a student? Such a student should be expelled immediately!"

Yu Xiaogang's sharp voice rang out as soon as Dai Mubai and Flender stepped onto the training grounds.

The crowd fell silent.

Ma Hongjun, Oscar, and even the usually aloof Ning Rongrong were dumbfounded.

When they had arrived earlier, they'd seen the flat-topped man standing there with a serious expression, as though the entire world owed him a fortune.

He hadn't said a word until now, merely standing stiffly and glaring at everyone.

But now, here he was, openly yelling at Flender—their Soul Sage-level headmaster!

Ma Hongjun and Oscar exchanged glances, their faces full of confusion.

Wait… who was this guy? Was he some sort of super-powerful Soul Sage? A Soul Douluo? Or even a Titled Douluo?!

To dare speak like this to Flender, he must have some serious strength… right?

"Yu Xiaogang! I AM the headmaster here!"

Flender's face darkened as he roared back at Yu Xiaogang.

Since when does a measly Rank-29 Soul Master get to shout at a Soul Sage?

There were students watching, too. Did Yu Xiaogang expect Flender to just throw away his dignity?

If this had been in the past, Flender might have swallowed his pride and offered a fake smile.

But now?

Flender was done playing nice.

"Yu Xiaogang, I can't kill you just yet. But giving you a little lesson—that I can do."

A plan formed in Flender's mind.

In a few days, or perhaps when they went to the Star Dou Forest, he would make sure Yu Xiaogang tasted some well-deserved suffering.

Otherwise, Yu Xiaogang might really think he had taken over Shrek Academy.

Meanwhile, Dai Mubai smirked silently to himself.

Why had he told Flender so much about Yu Xiaogang?

Because he couldn't stand the man!

Killing Yu Xiaogang outright would be too merciful. Dai Mubai preferred letting Flender deal with him—it was far more fitting.

What surprised Dai Mubai was how smoothly everything had gone. He'd half-expected Flender to defend Yu Xiaogang or accuse him of making false claims.

But instead, Flender not only believed him but was already planning his revenge.

Once a seed of doubt had been planted, all it needed was a little water and soil to take root and grow. That was why Dai Mubai's plan had gone so smoothly.

In the distance, Zhu Zhuqing exhaled a sigh of relief when she saw Dai Mubai safe and sound.

She had quietly returned to check on him multiple times, watching from afar as he spoke with Flender.

Now that she could see Dai Mubai was fine, she finally relaxed.

Ignoring Yu Xiaogang's ranting, Dai Mubai walked up to Zhu Zhuqing and gently ruffled her hair.

"Don't worry so much next time. I'm Dai Mubai—who could possibly threaten me?"

Zhu Zhuqing didn't reply. Instead, she nodded silently and hugged him tightly.

Yu Xiaogang froze in shock at Flender's earlier response.

Why did Flender keep bringing up the fact that he was the headmaster?

So what if he was?

As part of the Golden Iron Triangle, Yu Xiaogang considered himself its most important member.

Without him, the Golden Sacred Dragon martial soul fusion would be impossible.

Moreover, wasn't he also responsible for the creation of Shrek Academy?

If they truly calculated it fairly, Yu Xiaogang figured he deserved ninety percent of Shrek Academy's shares.

The remaining ten percent? He'd leave that to Flender out of respect for his status as a Soul Sage.

"A student was late, Flender. That's your responsibility, too! How can you possibly call yourself the headmaster of Shrek Academy?!"

Yu Xiaogang's words caused an uproar.

Ma Hongjun, Oscar, and even Ning Rongrong were all stunned.

What did they just hear?

Flender—who had founded Shrek Academy—wasn't fit to be its headmaster?

If Flender wasn't qualified, then who was? Yu Xiaogang?

Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing were equally speechless.

Zhu Zhuqing's eyes twitched in annoyance. She was seriously tempted to beat up the flat-topped man in front of her.

How could anyone be so insufferable?

At this moment, Tang San and Xiao Wu were both absent from the training grounds.

Tang San was still unconscious from his injuries, while Xiao Wu, though better off, was in no shape to get out of bed.

Xiao Wu's wounds were primarily mental, while Tang San's were purely physical—a result of Dai Mubai's relentless beating.

As the saying went, "It takes a hundred days to recover from an injury to the bones and tendons."

Although Tang San was a soul master and would heal faster than an ordinary person, it would still take him at least a month to fully recover.

Unless a healing-type soul master treated him, Tang San had no choice but to rest and recover naturally.

Oscar's martial soul had some healing capabilities, but it was far from sufficient.

As for Shao Xin, Shrek Academy's Food-Type Soul Sage, his abilities focused on amplification and removing abnormal statuses—he had no healing skills either.

Simply put, Shrek Academy didn't have a healing-type soul master at all.

Flender did have an old friend in Soto City—a healing-type Rank-50 Soul King who owed him a favor.

But that favor had already been used up when Zhao Wuji was injured.

Spending another favor on Tang San simply wasn't worth it.

"I'm not fit to be the headmaster?"

Flender's body shook with rage, his voice echoing across the grounds.

How long has Yu Xiaogang even been here?

In just seven or eight hours, Yu Xiaogang was already questioning Flender's authority?

Unbelievable!

Truly, Yu Xiaogang, you are my "good brother."

Flender no longer had even the slightest doubt about what Dai Mubai had told him.

Now it made perfect sense why Dai Mubai had risked offending him to reveal Yu Xiaogang's true nature.

"Yu Xiaogang! Whether or not I'm fit to be the headmaster of Shrek Academy is none of your concern!"

"Flender, are you insane?! What do you mean it's none of my concern? Didn't you invite me to Shrek Academy?!"

Flender: "…"

Invite you?!

Invite you, my ass…
