Chapter 11

"Guys, our professor won't be coming in this morning," one of their classmates announced.

Their classmates erupted in cheers like frogs suddenly drenched in rain. Instead of being disappointed about the professor's absence, they were actually celebrating.

"What a waste. It's my first day at school, and our professor isn't here," she said to her new friend.

"It's actually a good thing he's not here because that man is terrifying!" Kendra exclaimed.

"Yeah, he's really scary!" Suzy agreed.

"Really?" She just smiled slightly at them.

"Deanna, why are you so beautiful?" Pamela suddenly blurted out while happily admiring her face.

She smiled at her words. If only they knew her true identity, they wouldn't be treating her like this. Her fair skin was just a bonus that made her look wealthy. If she were dark-skinned, they would definitely doubt her status, even if she were a VIP. Most people from the province had darker skin, unlike those living in Manila, who were usually fair-skinned.

"Don't be surprised, Pam. You know she's a VIP, so if you look at her, she seems perfect," Suzy said.

"I thought all the students in this school were rich?" she asked.

"Yes, but people like us only have enough wealth. Not like you and the other students whose riches overflow," Pam explained.

"Pam is right. You even managed to get in even though it's almost the second semester!" Suzy added.

She just nodded. "Anyway, I'm going out for a walk. I want to explore this school." She bid farewell to the three.

"Alright, just wait for us at the music room after your walk, okay? I'm starving," Suzy said.

The music room was where the three friends usually hung out.

"Wait, aren't we going with her?" Pam asked.

"I'm really hungry, so let's go to the cafeteria first. Besides, she's a VIP, so no one would dare pick a fight with her," Suzy said.

"But what if Claire sees her?" Kendra asked worriedly.

"Go ahead and eat at the cafeteria. I'll be fine. I'm leaving now," she said before turning and heading out of the room with her backpack.

"She's so cool and so beautiful!" a student she passed by said. She smiled at them.

"Miss VIP?!" another student called out, making her turn around.

She greeted them with a sweet smile. "Yes?"

"There's an elevator here. If you walk, you'll get really tired," the student said.

"Sorry, but I usually get dizzy in elevators," she explained.

"Oh, really? Alright, just be careful. You're so pretty, after all," the girl said.

"Thank you." She smiled at them again.

"Wow! She's so cool! She actually talked to me!" the girl squealed.

"You know, she's so different from Claire Daniels."

"You said it!"

She suddenly felt guilty about everything happening. Everyone respected her because they thought she was truly wealthy. She feared that one day, the way they treated her would completely change.

This school is so beautiful! I wonder where the music room is. I think I want to learn how to play the piano and guitar during my free time, especially since that's where the three of them usually hang out.

"Miss, excuse me! Where is the music room?" she asked a student.

"Over there, next to the Architecture Building. There's a sign," they replied.

"Alright, thanks." She walked toward the music room.

Even their music room has four floors! Where should I go? Maybe the second floor would be nice.

When she reached the second floor, she slowly opened the door. She was stunned by what she saw—Amaury was kissing someone. The woman had her back to her, so she couldn't see who it was. But her heart pounded when the guy suddenly looked at her as he pulled away from the kiss. She panicked and immediately turned around, walking straight down to the ground floor.

Oh no, what do I do? He definitely recognized me! Why did I even go to the second floor? I should have just stayed on the ground floor. But seriously, Amaury?! He didn't even respect the school. He just had to kiss someone here! Lucky for him, I was the only one who saw them—my friends weren't with me. But who was that woman?

"Deanna, let's go to the rooftop," Kendra suddenly said, making her jump.

"Let's go!" Suzy urged.

"Wait, are you sure we're hanging out there?" she asked.

"Of course! Come on, you'll love it there," Pamela said, grabbing her arm.

"But—"

"Come on! No buts. I'm sure you'll like the rooftop," she insisted.

We're going to pass by the second floor. He'll definitely see me. But then again, I have nothing to be afraid of. They were the ones doing something inappropriate. This is a school, not a hotel.

When they reached the second floor, they ran into Claire, who was hurrying down to the ground floor.

"Is she crying? What happened to her?" Pamela asked.

That means Claire was the one kissing him. Yeah, it was her! But why does she look like she's crying? They were just kissing, and now she's crying? Did she get frustrated because their kiss was interrupted when that monkey saw me? "Oh no," she muttered.

"Oh no? What's wrong with you?" Pam asked.

"Huh? I didn't say anything," she quickly covered up.

"I wonder what happened to Claire? She's the number one bully in this school, but this is the first time I've seen her cry," Kendra wondered.

"Who knows? Maybe Amaury made her cry again. You know he doesn't like her, but she still keeps chasing after him," Pam said.

If he doesn't like Claire, then why were they kissing? This is so confusing! Ugh, whatever!

"Deanna, why do you look so uneasy?" Pam asked. "And your hands are cold," she added as she held her hand.

"No, they're not!" She quickly pulled her hand away from Pam.
