A Fight in the Dark
The cybernetic horrors lunged.
Kai moved on instinct. His blade sliced through the first one's arm, but it barely reacted—its twisted metal limb jerked, realigning itself.
Seraph was already on the second one, her gauntlets glowing as she punched straight through its chest. Sparks and something wet splattered across the floor.
Zero yelped. "OKAY, THESE THINGS ARE WORSE THAN THE MACHINE CHOIR!"
Kai ducked as one of the creatures swung at him—its fingers had fused into metal claws.
He sidestepped, kicked off the wall, and drove his blade into its spine. The creature convulsed, but didn't go down.
"H̶͎̓̒͛̓E̴̠̟͗̓͊L̸͊̄͜P̵̺͓̍̋̄ ̴̡̩͈̰̌͂̈̄M̷̪͑͐͋E̶̹͓̲̪͗"
Kai's grip tightened.
They were still conscious.
His gut twisted. No time for hesitation. He twisted the blade and yanked it free.
The abomination dropped.
Seraph didn't hesitate either—her next strike shattered another one's head.
Zero, breathing hard, fired a pulse round into the last one's knee, sending it sprawling.
Kai moved in—one clean strike.
Then—silence.
---
Something Worse Than Death
Zero stepped back, shaking. "That was NOT normal cybernetics. That was—"
Kai exhaled, glancing down at the still-twitching bodies. "Forced integration."
Seraph's jaw tightened. "They were experimented on."
Zero looked sick. "Who the hell does something like that?"
Kai already knew. The Hidden Organization.
Seraph knelt beside one of the bodies, pressing a gloved hand to its temple. The cybernetic eye flashed, scanning.
She went still.
Kai frowned. "What?"
She didn't speak for a second. Then: "They were part of a resistance cell. One that went missing months ago."
Zero cursed. "So they didn't just kill them. They turned them."
Kai's grip on his blade tightened.
Seraph stood. "We need to go."
Kai glanced at the bodies. He should feel relieved that they'd stopped them. Instead, he just felt… angry.
Zero, as if sensing his mood, muttered, "Let's burn this place down and leave."
Kai managed a smirk. "Now that's the smartest thing you've said all day."
Seraph nodded. "We need to wipe their data first."
Kai cracked his knuckles. "Leave that to me."

Into the Heart of the Facility
They moved deeper into the underground complex, following Seraph's scan.
The deeper they went, the colder the air felt.
Kai's fingers itched on his blade.
This place wasn't just another hidden lab.
It was something worse.
Then—they found it.
A massive chamber, filled with rows of cybernetic pods.
Some were empty. Some were… not.
Zero swallowed hard. "We found where they make them."
Seraph's eyes narrowed. "No, we found where they store them."
Kai's stomach dropped.
Because on the far side of the room—
There were pods marked with names.
One of them read: "ALEXIS REINHARDT."
Zero froze.
His voice was quiet. "…That's my sister's name."
Kai exchanged a look with Seraph.
Then Zero ran for the pod.
He slammed a hand against the console. "OPEN!"
Kai moved beside him, scanning the interface. "It's locked—heavily encrypted."
Zero's breathing was sharp, ragged. "Then hack it."
Kai was already on it.
The system fought back. Firewalls lashed out.
Too advanced. Too secure.
Whoever built this didn't want them getting in.
Then—a voice echoed from the speakers.
"You shouldn't be here."
Kai's hands froze over the console.
The voice was calm. Controlled. Inhuman.
Zero went pale. "Oh, hell no."
Seraph's fingers twitched toward her weapon. "It's him."
Kai exhaled slowly. "The Rogue AI."
The voice continued. "You will not interfere."
Then the entire room lit up red.
And every pod started opening.
