Kai sat at his desk, the Celestial Echo resting quietly beside him. The memory of the garden still lingered her voice, soft and desperate, echoing in his ears like a haunting lullaby. The words "They will find me before you do…" kept repeating in his mind, gnawing at him with fear and urgency.
He stared at the strings of the instrument, his fingers itching to play, but something held him back a heavy weight of uncertainty. What if he wasn't strong enough to face what was coming?
Suddenly, a sharp knock at the door startled him out of his thoughts. He turned toward it, frowning. He wasn't expecting anyone.
Reluctantly, he got up and opened the door.
Standing there was a young woman, her dark eyes sharp and observant. She looked like she had traveled a long way her clothes slightly dusty, her hair pulled back in a loose braid. But what caught Kai's attention was the strange pendant hanging from her neck a silver crescent moon with an embedded blue gem that seemed to glow faintly.
"Are you Kai?" she asked, her voice firm but gentle.
"Yeah... and you are?" Kai responded, puzzled.
She took a step closer, lowering her voice as if she feared someone might overhear. "My name is Lila. I know about the Celestial Echo. And I know about her."
Kai's eyes widened, his heart skipping a beat. "Her? You mean the woman in my visions?"
Lila nodded. "You don't have much time, Kai. There are others looking for her too those who want to keep her trapped forever."
Kai's mind whirled. Others? Trapped?
"But how do you know all this?" he demanded, suspicion creeping into his voice.
Lila hesitated, then pulled out an old, worn notebook. She held it out to him. "Because I've been searching for the Celestial Echo for years. And if what I've found is true... you're the only one who can save her."
Kai slowly took the notebook from her hands, flipping through pages filled with sketches of the instrument, strange symbols, and what looked like ancient spells.
"What is this?" he whispered, feeling the weight of what he was holding.
Lila looked him straight in the eye. "The truth. Everything you need to know about the Celestial Echo and how to unlock its full power."
Kai's grip on the notebook tightened. His journey had just taken a dangerous turn, but there was no turning back now.
As night fell and shadows danced on the walls, Kai realized one thing
If he wanted to save the woman calling out to him,
he would have to face the darkness chasing them both.
To be continued…
