Power Of Faith

Silas sat in a wooden bathtub filled with soapy water, but he wore a blank expression and looked out the window. From living in a timber house to a massive castle simply because of the corpse sitting on his bed right now.

He could hear Kar's thoughts and he could feel its emotions. That orc hated him with every fiber of its being and wanted to rip his head off his body.

Silas didn't sleep through the previous night because he felt unsafe around his Kar. His eyes had dark circles and his eyelids weighed down with exhaustion.

His only consolation was he got Ruth back—at least most of her.

"Are you Ruth?" Silas spoke to the tiny Spirit companion, seated at the bathtub's edge and enjoying the scenery with him.

Ruth turned to meet his gaze, slightly surprised by the question, but she could also understand why. She nodded in response and shifted her attention back to the early morning clouds.

"I just hear voices, voices that say things that make me angry. Really angry." She mumbled and Silas nodded.

"Me too." He mumbled in agreement.

He could also hear voices in his head that night. Not only that, but he nearly believed he had run mad after everything that happened.

"Do you understand what this power is?" Silas asked again.

Even now, he never said more than necessary, and it was hard to convey his emotions through speech or expressions. Having someone like Ruth who could understand his feelings with a glance was the greatest blessing in his life.

One he was willing to sell his soul for, and he ended up doing just that.

"You are the second prince of hell now… The heavens will come for you. Demons will come for you… Other members of the seven deadly sins will come for you. You need to get stronger and increase your army, feed off their strengths, and fight for your place as the new Demon Lord." Ruth spoke as if she was reciting words spoken to her. "That's what the voice told me."

"I see…" Silas mumbled with a nod.

While he was still confused about a few things, he had a vague understanding of his purpose now—survive!

The only way he could do that was by leveling up, but to do so, he needed faith points.

"FP stands for Faith points… The more people believe in you, you can get stronger." Ruth explained. "Devotees showcase the power of faith you gain daily. Since you only have Kar, you only gain three points."

Silas blinked in confusion, but silently gave his stats another look before returning his attention to Ruth.

"Kar wants me dead. How can he believe in me?" He shook his head in disbelief.

"Necromancy strips, it's the target of his will. While he may have his wants, it doesn't matter because he is forced to project your will. Kar hasn't killed you because it can't, it only projects your will. That's why it stepped in when that old, creepy man tried to get close to you. Your undead soldier is your number one supporter and enemy." Ruth explained.

Silas' eyes dilated slightly with shock at the revelation. Thinking back now, it made sense— he couldn't sleep at night because he felt unsafe, and Kar distanced himself.

Adin Ross attempted to approach but was blocked by Kar, mostly because Silas felt uncomfortable around him. Even now, Kar was seated outside because Silas didn't feel safe having it in here with him.

"Don't mistake my words for loyalty. Should your resolve ever waver and you experience doubt. Kar will be the first to cut you down. The path of the necromancer is one of suffering and pain, but I guess you were chosen for this because no one in the universe could play this role better than you." Ruth warned, and Silas nodded silently before submerging most of his body into the bathing water—only his eyes were left visible.

'Then what should I do?' he asked.

"You can try to gain the support of humanity by becoming its most powerful magus and defending it from all its enemies. That way, you can gain the support of humans and also gain an endless army of allies who believe in you."

Ruth could naturally hear his thoughts as they were bound by the power of the Abyss.

'Humans are greedy and selfish. Many will be threatened by the rise of a peasant child with necromancy Magic. They will see my rise as a threat to their positions, and they will turn the world on me and kill me.' Silas didn't reject Ruth's plan, but he understood the nature of humans better than anyone.

His autism made him the odd man out and a social outcast, but it also gave him the chance to play the role of an observer for 18 years.

Many say the calamity changed humanity, but the truth was that it revealed the true nature of humanity. The true worth of a man is revealed in times of hardship—the true nature of humanity is disgusting.

There were exceptions, but exceptions don't make the rules. The exceptions are few, and they always end up murdered by the vile majority.

Evil persists amongst humans because most humans are evil and selfish.

That was just the reality people turned a blind eye to.

"If they turn on us, then we kill them and take their faith by force." Ruth hissed as her green color turned a shade of crimson.

Splash!

Silas rose to his feet with burning crimson eyes and a small frown.

"If they refuse salvation, salvation will be forced upon them," Silas said decisively.
